2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I guess I am old fashion but I prefer chrome instead of aluminum look on grill, door handles, Genesis emblem, window trim and interior trim accents. Also prefer the leather on the dash and doors instead of the wood look. To me the 2009 to 2011 looked better except for the clock.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Wonder if an R-Spec model will be available at launch?

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I'll take mine in black or white please.....lol

Those seats are incredible. The dash layout to me looks better in the current model but it will grow on me.

I am awaiting the R-Spec viewing for final disposition

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Can only imagine with a fully equipped V8 with AWD will cost....

I'm a bit concerned about this as well. A couple sites have openly stated that they expect Hyundai to hold the line on pricing (though that's presumably comparing rwd to rwd). I'm hoping/figuring the V8 is at $49.5k. I think $50k is a big mental/marketing barrier and they will probably net more money selling more units just under $50.

It's interesting to see that some of the new pictures are still showing quad exhaust on some of the prototypes and none of the new pictures are showing the k900 shifter (which makes me sad).

The Korean Hyundai site has the car up now as well. You can figure out a lot of KDM features even with partial/crappy translation. It appears to have the Equus style key card, as well as heated/cooled rear seats. You can also look at the wood offerings. I hadn't seen that in any of the articles so far.

You have to figure they will do the same as they did for the previous Genesis.
To keep prices down, he USDM version will lack a lot of the creature comforts that the KDM version has.

It's a decent possibility. I wouldn't mind losing some things like the rear-seat entertainment setup if it saved thousands and most Americans don't ride in the back seats of their own cars anyway.

WSJ has the new Genesis as having the equivalent of a $2200 price hike for the KDM version. The USDM and KDM prices have always been very loosely associated though (even with equivalent options the USDM is significantly cheaper), so it's hard to say if any/all of that will carry over. They have more name/reputation to bank on in their home market as well.

Amazing. This destroys the current car, and as long as the american version doesn't come watered down, will be my next car. Well done, Hyundai.

I'm hoping/figuring the AWD V8 is at $49.5k. That allows them a small incremental of ~$500 and another $1500 for awd. More likely close to $50k for just the R-Spec w/o AWD w/ the base V6 starting around $38-40k.

The KDM version has always been better equipped (the new USDM won't be so stripped down, meaning, ahem, this time a cooled passenger seat) and Hyundai has had to keep a lid in prices in Korea as the Germans have been slashing prices to increase marketshare.

Also have to take into account the currency exchange rate.

Anyhow, according to several sources, Hyundai benchmarked the 5 Series for ride and handling and if that was the case, they benchmarked the wrong midsize luxury sedan (and I'm saying that as a long-time BMW driver).

Seems like the powerplants (the US will probably get 3 out of the 4) trade torque for HP, so w/ a more aggressive transmission programming, should lower acceleration times (even w/ a reported 60 lb weight increase) - hence the lower fuel economy rating.

If MSRP comes in for R Spec with AWD around $52K, I would definitely consider purchasing it. Don't need cooled rear seats or rear entertainment displays but really do want the rest of the electronic goodies.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Disappointed to see that folding rear seats still look to be absent. That's probably my second biggest dislike about my car. The first? The dangerously sensitive ESC that cuts power when it's critically needed.

Really enjoying the styling update. Will have to wait a year or two to see how it performs in the wild and pray Hyundai engineers realize that folding seats are pretty much standard everywhere else for a reason.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I see in the video that the show model has paddle shifters but no B pillar interior ac vents.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I have a few questions to those on the ground:

The KDM car shows dual projector lens headlights while the US preproduction covered by the blogs does not. Is this something Hyundai typically differentiates between the markets?

Interior wise, any colors of the all black interior live? Also, I read that there are 5 different interior colors, and multiple wood finishes. Some of them can be seen in the pictures. Have they mentioned if you can option your choice of wood with any interior color? Any aluminum trim option?

Thanks

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Gene, thanks so much for posting the photos.

To all others...remove the Genesis badges and drive stealth. Favorite part of the car? Quad exhaust tips!

Holding my breath for wider rear tires ala Equus.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

There are still a couple variables on pricing. I understand that USDM and KDM equipment differs. There are differences in price above and beyond equipment, taxes, and exchange rates. Hyundai actively prices differently for different markets and has flirted with legal trouble at home for "dumping" because of this.

Per WSJ it is known that the KDM version went up about $2200, but as far as I know we have no idea how/why. It could be that Hyundai simply dropped their lowest equipment package on the Genesis in anticipation of launching the smaller rwd sedan before the life cycle of the 2g Genesis ends (DIS + Nav could be standard). It could also be because of almost half a billion in dev costs. We could see KDM up by $2200 and USDM go up much more to match KDM +$2200.

People and websites are guessing a pretty big range. My personal bet is that they have a V8 model positioned at $49.5k. I'm thinking that might be RWD. Depending on what the expected take rate is on V8 AWD they may risk $52k on that model.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Has anyone heard confirmation (or informed speculation) that an rspec would be made or if it would be RWD only if so?

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Wow that black genesis with the light interior just clashes. Needs some tint bad

And what's up with the split in the center console armrest?

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

It mimics BMW's center console design.

And my Mercedes E500. BTW I like a the current Genesis console door.
