If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Korean pricing is up and tops out at the equivalent of $65.5k. Here's hoping they're just continuing to gouge their home market using their huge market share at home and we keep enjoying models that are significantly cheaper without a big hit in features.

Anyone have KDM top price for the 2013 or 2014 MY?

Probably can't do that anymore as the Germans have been handing Hyundai their lunch when it comes to luxury sales (aside from the FTA, the Germans have been real aggressive about pricing) w/ sales of the Genesis and Equus seeing sharp declines.

The US is now by far the largest market for the Genesis.

But can't see the new R-Spec topping out at much more than $50k (even if that means Hyundai will have to leave out some pricey toys).

I agree on the final price conclusion for the US V8, I think low 50's will be the max to make their volume numbers.

There are other legit causes of the KDM pricing. For one, they have a VAT.

I think you can see the VAT in prices if you look closely. The prices listed in bold include a VAT add-on of 10%. I assume that replaces sales tax that would be charged in the USA.

Hopefully these are new:

Very attractive, but still no sign of a stitched leather dash...which would be sorely missed by current Genesis owners.

I like my leather dash as much as the next guy but I am loving the matte finish wood trim. Looking forward to see which interior options make it to our shores.

Though I agree with you... all is forgiven if that is a REAL wood dash.

I'm really torn between the black and saddle - the only reason I'd lean with the black is because saddle has WAY too many colors going on - look at the headliner; why on Earth would they make it that color? I suppose I'm nitpicking... but I really like the interior of the '15 overall.

Of course... we'll be getting one with a lazy H on the steering wheel.

Right. With a VAT the tax is included in the price, with a sales tax it is added afterwards. So instead of 65k + 7% as you might think when first seeing that number, It would be 59k (pre-vat) + 7% of the net between trade and purchase. With a ~$20k trade that comes to a grand total of $61.7k including tax assuming perfect market parity and paying full retail price. I see that as the absolute worst-case scenario, though -- $59k top model sticker. That's just accounting for the VAT though...

Factor in a much more competitive mid/full size luxury market, Hyundai's significantly lower "status" in the US than at home, and likely equipment differences.

The other thing to consider is the Equus. If Hyundai really does push that close to $60k sticker they're going to have the Equus selling for the same or less than the top-model Genesis after incentives. While the new Genesis does subsume a lot of Equus features that's a free wheelbase stretch, leather upper dash, concierge services, and 3 yrs of maintenance off the top of my head. To me that's the epitome of a marketing nightmare.

As a side note the Equus tops out in the $140's in Korea IIRC.

A couple websites (including the Korean Hyundai one) seem to suggest the leather is Nappa, the aluminum is real, and the wood is real and open pore (looks satin as opposed to super gloss)

Kia K900 launching in Spring intensifies nightmare

from what I gather, r-spec = quad exhaust, and one of them is going to have F 245/R 275 tires.

I'm in, wife can pick the colors this time I guess.

Ha! I'll let my wife pick colors too if she lets me get one without a fight!

Ok.. After seeing all these pics and vids I just might have to change my mind on the new Genesis. Looks really sharp. Love the new colors and interior design and colors. Love that it's 3 inches longer in the wheelbase. Looks more luxurious and upgraded from prior years. Still waiting to drive one for final judgement. I have my dealer on speed dial. Lol.

That brown is absolutely GORGEOUS. I saw that color on last year's model in Korea. I love it.
