2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I have a 2013 and have no problem with the brightness of my puddle lamps either. Hmm? Just wondering how much you want to light up. :-)
OK, I did not realize that the US version also had puddle lamps. The posts above made it sound like it was a new feature in 2015 models.

By not offering a fully loaded KDM type car for the US (who knows there may be one on the way) its really frustrating for a car buyer that would like to pay for all the extra goodies. From 2009 to 2013 the KDM cars were loaded and that never got to us at any trim level, BUT if you go over to KIA you can get the KDM K900 fully decked out. That K900 is a pretty nice loaded car that Im gonna have to really consider when the new Genesis arrives. And also it really does not make much sense to me that KIA is the 'sister' company of Hyundai. It would seem to me if Hyundai is trying to build up the market, respect and treat the Genesis as a true luxury car it would offer all that the KDM versions currently offer.

The K900 is an Equus. Same wheelbase as Equus. Most of the same amenities. I have been to Hyundai hqtr and saw the car on a walkaround with the Product Manager Ricky Lao and I can assure you the trim levels on the U.S. version are all you will want or need. The car is light years ahead of my 2011 or my 2013 Genesis.

Bill-Was that "shakedown" ride in a V6 or V8? If V6, did it have AWD? How did car perform in terms of acceleration if V6? Can not imagine 311 HP will provide performance car acceleration. Under 6 seconds 0-60? in your estimation?

Just saw some more pics here:

Looks pretty good IMO.

Wonder if the wife would be interested in my '09?
I wonder if it would be smart for me to give my 6k mile 2013 Genesis 5.0 Rspec to my wife? Two new 420HP Genesis may be a bit to much for one household. If the 2013 Rspec had decent seats, and a functional telescoping wheel, I would just keep the 2013 --- besides the comfort issue its a great machine.

My pleasure. I can't remember(and am too lazy to look)if it was you that complained about the steering wheel travel, but I tested that because I know that's been debated. Rear seat room was class competitive with great headroom. The only thing I couldn't test was the HUD and the reason for that is the car needs to be on for it to display. You can tell the car had it, though. One thing's for sure, though, every one that saw the new Genesis and sat in it said it was a very nice car. I even had a couple chat with current Genesis owners and they said they were going to trade in their cars for the new one.
Larry'sown - Just saw your post .... Again thank you very much for remembering that there was a question regarding the telescoping travel range. You're part of the reason this a a great forum. Regards, Dan

I need professional help. I really wanted to show it to my wife who had not seen it yet. She wanted to see what I have been fawning over since my chance to ride in a camouflaged unit with a Hyundai Engineer. The ride was arranged by John Krafcik the former President of Hyundai America who I met at a Cars and Coffee meeting. I'm just a dyed in the wool car lover from Detroit who loves the Hyundai product. I do not work for Hyundai or any car company.
Bill - I need to show my wife your post ..... she thinks I need help also regarding cars. Not really, but she knows my spine looks like Jeffrey Dahmer got a hold of it, thus car seats are serious medical devices required by me. Regards, Dan.

I have a 2013 as well that is going Bye-Bye. The 2015 is just too much more car than the 2013. Still don't understand the need for the big gas hog. My 3.8 hits 0-60 in about 6 seconds. I live in California and there are lots of hills and I have "NEVER" felt underpowered. I'm telling you all this and I am a guy that drives a little hard. To each his own but to me the 420 is more show than go because there is no way to use more than what the 3.8 delivers unless you're an all out maniac. When I took my test drive with the Hyundai engineer we were on a deserted freeway at 6AM and he cranked it up to 110 MPH so fast that I was shocked and it went about its business serenely. His hands never had to correct the direction of the vehicle. It tracked like it was riding a laser line. Someone is going to have to explain that extra expenditure and why they would want that heavier powerplant in the front end of that vehicle messing with the weight balance of the vehicle. Anything gained by adding the extra horses is lost by taking away the agility of the vehicle. Just my opinion of course.

Thanks for reply. Dropping from 333HP to 311HP has to affect straight line performance numbers. In my experience, it is more the off the line torque and grunt of the V8 that I "think" I may miss. Also when merging and need to punch it entering highway traffic I think the difference with V8 may be noted. Looking forward to some test data on the 311HP AWD model and of course, a test ride when available.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I guess you are talking about the 2015? I was referring to the Canadian 2013 Genesis, which already have the puddle lambs (apparently).

My '12 has puddle lamps too. No Batman logo projections, though.

That is possible, but not necessarily so. It might be that torque was increased when they lowered the HP rating. Or at least the torque kicks in earlier with 2015 engines. I think the V6 will be plenty of power for the vast majority of people, unless someone is looking for a street racer.

No 2015 Genesis in DFW auto show. I asked them today and I got a response as below. Disappointed!!!

At this time, Hyundai does not plan on bringing the 2015 Genesis to the Show next week. Sorry!

I wasn't allowed to drive the car but I spent two hours in the passenger seat of a fully camouflaged unit on a shakedown run with a Hyundai engineer and even from that perspective I'm telling you to get your checkbook out and make sure there's ink in the writing instruments because you will "NOT" be disappointed. My goal is to be the first owner in America.

I hope you're right because I cant remember the last time I was this excited for a car.

Larry'sown - Whow, thank you for the very detailed and informative report. Especially your descriptive assessment of the bolsters and how the bolsters feel when fully powered up ("tried to wiggle around, but the seat held me in place"). Secondly, Thanks also for testing the 'range' of the telescoping steering wheel. These 2 specific items (bolsters & telescoping steering wheel range) are what I have been asking about, and needing to know about.

You did not mention about the seat cushioning and seat height, but from the information that Hyundai supplied via YouTube clips & photographs, it appears that the seats bottoms are made with denser cushioning material which is less thick and they are lower (lower "H" point as per Hyundai). If all that is correct the seats should be in line with the BMW 5 series seats which are about as good as you can get IMHO.

Again, thank you for your time and effort to report this information to those of us on the forum that need this specific information. I'm not a BMW fan, but I have been very close to simply caving in and trading my new 6k mile Genesis Rspec for a 535i just for the seats. My Rspec is a great car, well built, nice looking, runs great, exceptional stereo, etc but I cannot drive it much due to the lacking telescoping wheel, and non-performance seat design.

I have some serious spinal issues and I need to have tight lateral support and be able to get close to the steering wheel in order to drive. Your information has helped me significantly. Now I just need to try and hold on until the 2015 5.0 Genesis arrives in April (hopefully) as per Hyundai. Regards, Dan

I can tell you I sat in a optioned out 535i at the auto show and the Genesis' seats are right on par with them. You won't be disappointed.

The guy was Dave Zuchowski. He is the replacement for John Krafcik. I hear he's a great guy but time will tell if he is capable of filling those VERY LARGE shoes. The Koreans have a way of shooting their successful leaders that mystifies me. The dominant ape theory that plagues Korean management style is alive and well. Shows a lack of maturity in my mind.

By the way, I saw the puddle lights on a car right in front of my house in the dark (fully camouflaged Genesis) and they were as bright as they need to be.

I think it had more to do with the MPG debacle. Somebody had to take the fall for what has cost Hyundai millions of dollars.

Or you could just give it to me :)

What did you think of rear seat legroom and space between 2015 Hyundai Genesis and BMW 535i when you were comparing?

Like I said, it's my pleasure. I took notes of some complaints current Genesis owners had to see if Hyundai fixed them, and from what I can tell, they checked every box. Niw for the test drive. I even have the perfect curvy road to test it on picked out. :D

I thought the Genesis had more space, if only marginally so, but I think that the Genesis has better quality leather. I'm telling you, I don't think I've ever felt leather that soft.

You're forgetting the 5.0 will have a continuously damping adjustable suspension that will undoubtedly make up for the slight increase in weight. Personally, I think that if you are thinking about getting a car like the Genesis, why not go all out? Then again things like gas mileage isn't very high up on my needs list.

The 535i likely had their standard dakota leather which is not as supple as nappa, but holds up well.
