  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 V8 Dying at 4500 rpm

Read the caution note below. Use of non-genuine parts could damage the air flow sensor. This could be his issue as he has noted that he installed K&N filters. Anyone else install K&N filters and have no issues?

I dont want to believe that increased air flow with increased filtration would be an issue. BUT with that said that is exactly what it seems like. Had an 05 stang that I change induction on and had to retune ECM however it was more than just the filter. Ive used K&N on just about everything Ive owned for the last 10 years or so. Still waiting on dealer to call with an update.

the MAF can be a tricky culprit.... a lesson i have learned on other cars. especially given the complexity of the electronics in these cars.

It's not increased filtration, it's less filtration, which is why I won't run one. But, it'd be easy enough to switch back to a paper filter and see if the problem goes away.

You could be right, however they are ISO 5011 tested and certified. Maybe this standard is not good enough for these complicated cars.?

Could be the oiled filter fouling the MAF. Just sayin'

I have a friend who is an exotic car mechanic who advised me against using any oil soaked filtration system such as K&N as the oil can adversely affect the MAF.

May not be your problem but it is something to consider. Good luck!

ISO is nothing more than a set standardization of procedures and testing. This does not mean it is safe to run or tested to be safe to run in the real world

Good luck and be sure to update us once you hear back from the dealer mth

Ok folks here is an update. Dealer upgraded ECM (supposedly a recall), we put stock air filters back in car, they told me they did some other little things and car still lays down at 4500 rpm's. The car is not registering any failure codes at this time. Whoever mechanic deals with for assistance at Hyundai has determined they think it is a blocked fuel line. I was told they had some issues with collapsing fuels lines on some 5.0. fuel line on order (back ordered) so no ETR. I do at least have a loaner. Here is a good note. I got the mechanic(we are buds) to order me a map update at no charge. When I purchased car sales person told me that he would get me the update at no charge but we all know what that meant. JUST SIGN HERE !! Ill keep yall posted.

Doesn't blue link have some speed limiting settings for keeping your teen drivers alive? Could it be that it is turned on? Or maybe a valet anti-donut setting? It is funny that no codes are set. Maybe whatever passes for a rev limiter these days is reading the RPMs wrong.

I don't have a G yet, just guessing.

That make sense since it is based on RPM.

That just pops a notification on the NAV screen and send you a text - it does not limit the speed of the car in any way!

Have they given you a loaner yet? Are you renting or did you have an extra vehicle to drive?

They gave me a loaner( it is a rental as they were out of loaners do to a Sonata recall that is keeping them very busy but they are paying for it ) and always have. Its an Accent (yee haw) and yes I can push it past 4500 rpm's .
