Can you guys ALL cut it out, please? If I want this kind of conduct I'll go on the Battlefield forums. Genentec - some of your posts are getting out of line. Reel it in, please. To the others - you guys aren't helping either in the responses. Let's just all stay on target?
leasing it just means u absorb the massive first 3 years of depreciation. I guess if your filthy rich and use it as a tax write off then its somewhat worth it.
This is not entirely true. For many people leasing is a very good option - especially if they frequently get new(er) cars. I actually just got both of my nephews into leases on a couple of different VWs and my ex is now on her 2nd Honda lease.
I had to break it down into a spreadsheet for them to see the advantages. But basically say on something like a decently equipped CC the MSRP is 35k. a 5 year note at a decent APR (2.9%) with 3k down and no trade would be roughly $600 a month. After 5 years you will have actually spent $37,400 in payments - plus your 3k down puts you at $40,400 - and you will be well out of warranty with miles racked up, things will start breaking and you will most likely be looking to sell it and finance into another new car anyhow - so any "gain" you get from being able to say "I now OWN the car" is lost - because you are gonna get right back into a loan payment. If you are lucky - you will be able to sell it for just under 10k or a dealer will give you about 7500 for it.
The same car & package with the same money down on a lease would only cost you $330 per month which after 3 years you will have spent ~$11900 plus the 3k down you put - $14900. If you stick with the same brand you probably would not have to put more money down, and worst case scenario it would only be $1k. They payments will be roughly the same if you stayed with the same model - and would only get cheaper if you got into anything else other than the SUVs. Either way - by the end of year 5 you will have paid out less than $24000 total and will be on your way into your 3rd new car if you do yet another lease and you will have been covered by warranty the entire time.
Even if you got 10k for the purchased car that still puts you $6000 over the lease costs at the end of year 5. In that case the crossover point on money is at the end of year 6 or a little into year 7 - but again you are into your 3rd new car at that point and had warranty and maintenance the entire time.
Once into a recurring lease - it's a no-hassle option that in the end leaves you pretty much worry-free. For a lot of people that lack of hassle of having to get money back out of your old car, plus having everything always covered with a loaner available if anything does go wrong, not to mention getting fresh wheels every few years - it ends up being worth the money, nevermind actually costing less both up front and over time.
this is a sign that the trans will probably be done at about 100k miles. I would not trust to own it long term.
To be fair & honest - if you follow the (lack of) maintenance schedule on any car including the Genesis that says they have "lifetime trans fluid" - they will all be done right after 100k - which is what Hyundai considers to be "lifetime" (the term of the powertrain warranty). Even the "lifetimes" you should service regularly if you REALLY want it to last - and well beyond the 100k.
I then extrapolate that to the 3rd generation, likely coming in 2021.
I'm banking on 2019 for the G80 and 2020 or 2021 for the G90 refreshes.
The dealers make all the red flags go up with their sleazy tactics. Low ball trade offers, I need to talk to my manager crap
The Germans avoid this by simply having higher pricepoints. To me - I would spend the time to negotiate a deal rather than pay 20-40% more for a similarly trimmed & equipped vehicle in the same class.
you are still under factory warranty. too early to warrant a car as reliable.
He is also under a lease... so in reality - he doesn't care. He will have a new ride long before reliability becomes an issue.
Audi, Benz, Bimmers are the blonde one- night stand, hit and quit girls with fake double Ds ready to take all your sh*t once you turn your back. The Genesis is the girl you take home to meet the family, the hard working, college educated girl WITH natural double Ds that you want to marry. Let that marinate...
To be honest - I would almost say the exact opposite. One-nighters are usually cheap - even over the long term if they are "repeat customers" The German cars are certainly not that. that being said - the German cars are also much more prestigious in appearance, refinement and luxuriousness. Problem is - like most women of the same categories... they just don't age very well - at least not without a lot of paint and bodywork. In both cases.
