  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Genesis News?

Looking at my brochure it would seem the headlights are different on the 2016? Am I mistaken or are they larger?

I am looking at front end picture on page 2 on both 2015 and 2016 brochures and the headlights look absolutely identical size to me.

Would you believe that the 2016 brochure is on sale on Ebay for $6.00 with shipping! Go figure!
Yes, considering the number of people on this forum who are foaming at the mouth about the 2016, I would believe it.

So no sightings of 2016's on dealer lots yet? :( I was hoping they would have landed by now as I have been waiting a few months to purchase. And of course tomorrow the Federal Reserve is probably going to raise interest rates....

It is clear what the new ones will have over the current model - they will look and drive the same. If you see or drive a 2105, its essentially the same. If you can live without those minor changes (if they are minor to you), the deals will be on the 2015's, as well as likely better finance terms.

But the equipment packaging could be quite different (e.g. here in Canada, there was no fully-loaded V6 in 2015; they could add more equipment to the top V6 model in 2016...)

The equipment packaging for the U.S. market is detailed in the 2016 brochure's posted here - assumed the poster was from U.S.

Six threads down.....

Yeah - the post of the full brochure was mine. I'm in Wisconsin....the brochure was from the local Hyundai dealer who just got them in last Friday.

In other updates...I spoke to a source at Hyundai yesterday (who would absolutely be in a position to know) that the 2016 information will be on the website in the next two weeks.

Based on that I would GUESS the first allocation would hit the dealer lots that first week of October - which if I remember correctly is what a few other people who knew folks at HMA were saying.

In Madison, WI Zimbrick Hyundai has 5 2015 cars left....2 V8s and 3 AWD V6 cars. I think at least one of the V8 cars they have had since originally getting the Genesis. I would have actually even considered the V8 car in Wisconsin IF you could have gotten the heated steering wheel, rear heated seats, etc like the V6 AWD car has. Throw some snows on and you are good to go...

Its frustrating to me the way the *some* of the optioning was done on the US Genesis models.....and not getting the AWD version of the V8 car was a really "interesting" call. The Canadian market is a fraction of the US...the Wisconsin weather is no different than most of southern Canada most seasons and we don't get the AWD V8 option as well? Eh? :) :)

Sorry.....*rant off*

Someone on this forum said, I think, that the decision to not offer the AWD V8 in the U.S. was due to U.S. gas guzzler taxes, i.e. Hyundai didn't want to i) have to make people pay the tax, and, possibly, ii) deal with the PR headaches of producing a vehicle that the government officially stamps as 'guzzler'.

It's funny: you guys got screwed out of the AWD V8. We got screwed out of the 17-speaker Lexicon, the larger-screen nav, etc. on our AWD V6s... even though I think very few Canadians would want a V8 in a Genesis. Not for over $10K (CAD) more, certainly, but even generally, this is not V8 car country...

So the country that has more V8 buyers gets no AWD V8 and a fully-loaded AWD V6, but the country that is less V8-friendly gets an AWD V8 and V6 models that are missing a bunch of nice equipment. Go figure.

i would have 100% taken a RWD V8 instead

Yes, I'm in the USA. Even before I grabbed a brochure from my dealer I knew I was going to wait for the 2016 -- for the subtle changes, better warranty and (possible) 'silent' fixes/tweaks (high speed vibration problem, etc) after the first model-year production run.

I'm just trying to be patient until a V8 Ultimate in Empire State Gray shows up near me. It is a difficult task.
