  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Genesis News?

Thanks - so it looks like LED DRL's on all and foglights available on the 3.8 are the only real changes. I wonder if the DRL's can be retrofit (fog lights can be) - it will be interesting to see how they are wired?
They also made HID standard on the base model.

As far as the DRL's we will have to see how they behave, It they are steady on or DRL/Turn signal combo. Since ours uses an incandescent bulb that is a single color, it's pretty simple. If it changes color then look out, talk to Aquineas on the headaches he has had with trying to get the dual projector headlights working correctly.

I'm assuming it will be like the Canadian headlights - we maintain our current incandescent turn signal and the DRL signal goes to the brow (brighter than when brows are on as the parking lights. I believe our current headlights are capable of doing this, but the lighting control module and harness are not.

Aquineas installed the Korean dual projector set up - but I think his issue is the the same as we have - the 2015 USA car sends the DRL signal to the turn lamps.

So we need to cure diarrhea by changing the plumbing ;)

I saw on ebay the converter cable for the dual projector headlights and it has a male/female connector for the headlight/turn signal/eyebrow lights.

The best bet to get this working is to make a new module that monitors the following lines:

  • Headlight
  • Turn Signal
  • Eyebrow

The Turn signal will be steady on (DRL) or Pulsing (Turning)
Code:
Truth Table: Steady Pulsing
DRL On On
Turn Off Flash

Now this is simplified for the sake of argument, but if we can come up with a full truth table, could probably use the adapter cable to wire in a module using solid state relays and electronics to have it work right without carving up the car.

I was already looking at that cable to wire in VLED turn signal/DRLs combo lamps without having to mess up the headlight housing and make the change completely reversible.

Any help on filling out the truth table?

See the thread on "stalk replacement" - I think something called the body control module might be the key - could be to change that and run new wires to the DRL pin in the headlight connector?

Wow that is hardcore . I think I'm just going to be satisfied with the VLEDs.

The local dealer is expecting the 2016 model soon. He thinks it will be a Signature Package. Not sure on the color. I will send pictures as soon as I can. This Grandparent isn't in mourning over the color loss.

I'm just glad the '16 doesn't have surround view, that's the only thing that would have made me kick myself over getting the '15 :)

If you look - HID is also now standard equipment. This was a Signature package item previously. XM Data is apparently included for 3 years.

Guess the powertrain changes will be coming for the '17 MY.

Hopefully that'll include an N-Series Gennie.

So basically 2 of the 3 changes I really wanted are included. Not bad. Still waiting for Android Auto, but perhaps that is still going to come at some point as a retroactive update like the 2015 Sonatas?

In looking at the 2016 brochure I saw an 'Emergency Steer Assist Mode' which 'seamlessly optimizes suspension responsiveness and stability control in sudden evasive maneuvers'. I don't think that was on the '15. One more safety measure.

Don't know about the 2016, but if this is a preview of things to come. 2017/18 can't get here fast enough. Hyundai's plan is to have a N variant for every car. Whether or not it makes it to US shores is another story

Hyundai is playing catch-up with Lexus, which offers F-Sport versions for these traditional models:
  • LS F-Sport
  • GS F-Sport
  • IS F-Sport
  • CT F-Sport
  • RX F-Sport
About the only cars without an F-Sport version is the ES and SUV's (other than RX which does have one).

This does not even include the RC F and LFA models, are serious sport models.

Good catch. I'm sure it's probably something like flipping the settings to "sport" mode in an emergency.

That was also in the 2105 Brochure (Page 4), so not new.

Just picked up a 2016 GENESIS brochure at my local dealer. He tells me that they have a 2016 due to deliver in the next few days? He said that there were many sitting in Portland OR. waiting for the word to ship. The good news for those of us that are waiting is that the 2016 3.8 now have LED fog lights, as well as LED DRL's. No prices yet but soon I hope. The Fog lights are listed in the SIGNATURE PACKAGE. the DRL's are now standard equipment. Don't see many changes to the body. Hope to place an order asap.

The last page inside the 2016 brochure has a picture of a rear end with HTRAC 5.0 badging but no mention of that option in the actual brochure. Maybe a Canadian flavor got included by accident...

Anyone want to scan the entire 2016 brochure and upload?

I have both the 2015 and 2016 brochures and the actual content is VERY similar with the exception of the options page that has already been posted. Mostly new pictures, but I can't find a single design change in the car inside or out. I do like the modifications made to the headlight wiring and including fogs on the 3.8 for sure. How many people will miss having the beige paint option? lol

The one thing I don't get is why some people just HAVE to have way more than 400 HP. Do the cops not write tickets where you live? The clamor for 500 or 600 or more HP to me is a complete waste of money, unless you rent track time.
