  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Are these technically the same as the 2015 model in Parking Light mode, which light the headlight LED surrounds? Are the 2016 LED surrounds a brighter LED?

No, they are brighter than the 2015 in parking light mode.

Yes, cooler color white and much brighter.

Looks to be the same as was offered in Canada on the 2015's if you ask me. Even the foglights were standard on the 2015's in Canada. Basically offering the Canadian spec in the US this year.

Wonder if it's the LED bulb type, the power supplied or some combination?

I love that the gears in people's heads are turning. I want the 2016 lights. Hoping an affordable solution pops up from all the brainstorming.

Don't think it will happen. Perhaps if you swap out the Body Control Module where the signal originates and then run a new wire to each DRL - but seems unlikely and/or quite complicated/expensive. I posted details in an earlier thread where I looked up the wiring details on the Hyundai Tech Site:

I won't lie. That thought has crossed my mind already. All I got from the wife when I told her my plan was the shaking of her head and her walking away.

you could always trade in the 2015 for a 2016 ;-)

Just curious.

Since DRL in Canada is mandatory we have no means of turning off the DRL lights. I know in the US on the 2015 model, you guys had a switch on the stalk which you could select on or off. Did they keep this switch intact on the 2016 with the new DRL's or did they take easy street and just drop in the Canadian version.

The DRLs are off if you select Off. You can then do DRL, parking lights, or full headlights (with DRL on too). Fogs come on with full headlights if a secondary switch is toggled on.

Nice to have the selection. Thanks for the update.

That would mean that US drivers could have LED DRLs by turning off the DRLs and wiring in the LED parking lamps to the key switch, correct?

That would be the same thing as just turning on the parking lights, so why bother? By the way, what you describe is not so simple.

Appears to be more complicated than that from some who have played with the wire harness (Nikgen), not to mention the LED's appear to be using higher power for a brighter LED DRL on the 2016.

Will watch here for some smart owners who will come up with a easy solution. I would even settle for the brighter LED surrounds in Parking Light Mode.

It is not the same as turning on the parking lights. The parking lights will run the tail lights as well. I also want the headlights to operate automatically. If I turn on the parking lights, that would not work. The idea is that the wire to the LED parking lights would be cut and the power source for the LEDs would be a wire controlled by the key switch.

I hear you and want the same, but it appears that it is not easy to do. I don't have a problem with the rear lights on when in parking light mode - actually prefer they are on. I was looking for something at least more easily possible (LED light power).

I like the amber DRL.....cheap bulb when it burns out. seen several cars in my area with one headlight not doing the LED DRL because it went out for whatever reason and its too expensive to repair...so they drive around looking weird.

autozone...amber bulb....3 bucks later and I'm good to go.

Does the addition of the fog lights for 2016 LOOK any different when viewing from the front? Are there any side-by-side comparisons of the 2015 and 2016?

Hopefully if you can afford a Genesis you afford a light bulb

it doesn't really matter what you can afford. some Genesis can be had for low 30s....some for mid 50s. the point was the bulb is cheaper to replace and being cheap has nothing to do with what you can afford.
