  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2020 G70 U.S. availability

Thanks for this pic @CaliG70! I assume you took the pic yourself live? If so, did it look darker in person too? We need to get a pic of the Santiago Silver next to Savile Silver to be sure. If they indeed are different, then the Uyuni White is also different than Casablanca White; same for Vik Black / Victoria Black.
I think it was just my eyes. Vik Black and Uyuni white seemed the same to me.

I am surprised that many of these US 2020's that are just now showing up in dealerships were made back in May/June of this year.

This Spring there were cars showing up that were made almost a year previous. Obviously though 2019 was a different year given the dealer situation.

It seems they mass ship the vehicles to the the four ports they use and keep a large inventory there. Probably cuts down on the shipping costs as well as having a more flexible and responsive supply chain.

Doing a comparo using the 2019 and 2020 configurators, it shows the 2 silvers as distinctly different! Savile is quite a bit darker.

2020 Savile Silver (photo kinda matches the above, but not quite as dark):

I sure hope the configurator is off because I really wanted the lighter silver color.

Interestingly the black and white colors look the same on the configurators, so it sure seems strange they'd keep those colors the same with different names, but actually change the silver color. I guess someone needs to look at both colors at a dealer to know for sure.

It’s Santiago Silver. Configurator is messed up.

It is indeed different...see my confirmed post a few down.

That Korean site seems so...rudimentary. What's up what's up with that?

I don't want to be a big conspiracy guy but here's just a few things that indicate the 2020 USDM Silver color is different. No comment presently on the black and white but just take note of the following:

1. Attached photos show a 2020 Advanced trim that clearly is not Himalayan gray or any thing that I would call silver. Looks more like Lexus Atomic Silver if I had to compare it to anything but it's clearly not Santiago silver either.

2. The KDM brochures, and some other markets for that matter, show the color codes in their e-brochures.

A KDM brochure dated 4/30/2018 has "YS6" Platinum Silver
A more recent one, two days ago, 10/16/19 drops "YS6" for "SSS" and SSS has a dramatically darker shade of "silver" almost grey. SSS of course is Seville Silver.

Genesis USA website has 2020's up and if you go to the following two links, hit the safety tab after you scroll down a bit and get to the section of the page for "Forward Collision Avoidance Assist" you can clearly see the shade of the silver vehicle pictured on each respective page is different. Same stock photo, same car, same position, but different shade of "silver".

^ Well...I can finally end this debate :) I called my dealer that has both a 2019 Santiago Silver and the 2020 Savile Silver.

He went out and looked at both...and luckily they were almost next to each other.

The 2020 is 100% a darker shade of silver :( Not as dark as the HG...but definitely darker. Still metallic.

So...if anyone truly loves the Santiago Silver...better get a 2019 while they are out there !!!!

I think this makes sense actually. The white, SS and SI were all very close...and far from HG. Having white, SI and this new gray being a shade darker spreads out the spectrum a bit.

Bob's yer uncle.

Thanks Beefer. That narrows my 2020 colors down to MB then. I would have taken either color in 2020. I sure hope the 2020s showing up are not 6 months old. I did not purchase a 2019 for don’t like buying first model years and the ones I test drove where 6+ months old. For Genesis to tie up cash in new cars that don’t immediately hit the dealer show rooms just seems like a crazy business practice. Ive only bought Mazda’s and an Infiniti before and neither was more than 2 months old when purchased. Both came from Japan.

Nah...you're good. 2019's sat around b/c of the dealer licensing bullshit. That is over and done with. 2020 G70's started landing not too long after Canada got them.

The old silver is nice, but I also really like the new shade. More of a pewter color.

Nice detective work here @cd793! Though I'm initially disappointed at this change, I'll wait to see it in person before judging it. Problem I have is my current Infiniti G35 is pretty much this same color and I was looking for a change.

Glad you were able to get more info from your dealer to debunk those that said it was the same color. But... no pics of the side-by-side??? Surely he could have snapped a shot for ya

He offered...but I don't want him to have my email. Sorry.

The new silver looks cool, almost like a brushed metal. But it seems like it's too similar to Himalayan Gray.

I'd like to see it in person. The colors on the web site are not very accurate. I really liked the Santiago Silver, not too sure about this one judging from the photo.

2020 USDM white and black colors are changes from 2019 as well. It’s not just a name change. Would definitely need to see the cars side by side in person to see what the differences are.

The white looks more pearl.
