  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

3.5L V6 GV80 tune up

Motor in gv70 3.5t is the same as the gv80 3.5t.
But the stock plugs can NOT handle the additional heat from the extra boost In Maps 2 & 3. But trying to find the correct colder plugs
To replace the OE plugs is harder than I thought. Especially if changing them could possibly void my 100,000 warranty.
Anything you do that modifies the engine boost and parameters will void your warranty. Hopefully none of us do have an issue, but if anyone thinks for one second the factory won't be able to tell the engine was "told" to make more boost and "add" more fuel they are up in the night. You have to pay to play. JMO

They know 100%. In fact due to my misfiring i popped some codes that were automatically sent to Genesis. I recvd emails.

So after some back & forth with NGK. They found me 1 step colder plugs. Being installed today.
Hopefully it helps. 🤞Trial & error.

Looking forward to your satisfaction and sharing the part number with us.
Thanks for posting!

My pleasure. Here's part # NGK(R2558E-9) Paid a little over $250 for (6)

OK. The new NGK plugs did the trick! Left the Gap @ .028 NO misfiring or Sputtering in any map. Smooth & Responsive. Ran some logs in Map 0(Stock) & Map 3.
Max boost stock I Hit 10.2 & Max boost Map 3, I hit 15.6. I'm running 93. On to the next mod....

What happened with your warranty? Did genesis void your warranty after they emailed you?

No No.... It was just an automated email through genesis connect... saying had check engine light. That was when it was misfiring.
In process of installing Ethanol sensor and running E30 Blend.

I think that 50 additional HPs aren't enough to make to real improvement, I hope we can one day buy a supercharger kit... just wishful thinking, don't quote me...

Um…what are you talking about? Supercharger kit?? 😳😳😳. The 3.5T is a twin turbocharged engine. The JB4, running on only 93 octane, makes over 100 hp and 135 more torque….at the wheels. 50hp?? In other words, it takes the GV80 from 375 hp to about 475. And once they figure out the restrictions in the air intake, they expect it to make about 500hp. I may have found a good source for authentic (lots of fakes out there) Japanese made NGK 97537 plugs at a great price.

They sell plugs individually, which is a big plus, as most places only sell them in boxes of four.

shipped to me in NJ…the price is $140.00

I also discovered there may be a Denso plug equivalent to the NGK 97537, and at a much lower price.

In my research, I discovered the 97537 is a commonly used plug in the Subaru/Toyota twins…BRZ and 86. As such, they frequently upgrade to this plug when adding power. They also use the following Denso plug, which appears to be a near direct replacement for the NGK 97537. The one thing I see different is it uses a 10k ohm resistor instead of a 5j ohm resistor. I don’t think this will affect anything as the resistor is designed to prevent interference in electronics (radio, etc). If anything, it will be a “quieter” plug and won’t affect the vehicle’s electronics at all.

Denso
ZXE27HBR8 (3536)
Precious metal Z: 0.55mm diameter iridium
Thread and hex XE: 12x14.0
Heat range: 27
Reach: it’s confusing but you’re looking for 26.5mm total length,
19.0 mm
(Electrode position: 8.5 mm)
26.5 mm
B: triple ground electrode
R: 10k ohm resistor
8: 0.8mm/0.032” gap

Denso heat range 27 is equivalent to NGK heat range 9. I believe the OEM Hyundai plug
P/n 1887709085 is heat range 8.

It’s there any video for installation in GV80. Can’t wait to install mine. 🙏🏼
On burger website there is instructions on the install also they have videos on YouTube

Appearently you have no idea what you are talking about. Piggy back controllers like the Burger do not tell the the engine to make more boost or add more fuel. Instead they simply tell the engine that it is not making enough boost or giving enough fuel. The engine management electronics believe they are doing exactly what they are supposed to, therefore there is nothing for the factory to look at.

Apparently I do have an idea of how they work. The engine neither makes the boosties or adds the extra fuel. I'm aware the controllers calls for more psi and fuel but the sensors that tell you how much boost is being made do not lie. The fuel system also does not lie. I'm aware that the system can be removed and made to look like it was never there. I also know if a car company selling $70,000 cars has one come back to the dealer with engine issues, transmission issues, or drive line issues, they will pull out the microscope. That's when it is your time to either lie about it or man up and deal with it. I am not the moral police. Just a guy that tries not to spread false information.

That is exactly what they don't do. A G80 runs 13.5 lbs of boost stock. Put some piggy back electronics inline that tell the the ECU that it is only receiving 75% of the actual boost and what happens? You get 25% more boost all while the ECU still thinks it is making 13.5 lbs.
Do you have a piggyback system? This is my 3rd one, plus I had one that simply replaced the ECU and another that rewrote the ECU.

this is why I joined this forum :D

glad we can pump out more ponies. I thought this engine was restricted and could unleash more power :D
