  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Android Auto for Genesis?

Because it's the premium model that folks paid extra for. Personally, I think all 2015 Genesis models should be upgraded together - upgrading the base unit before the Ultimate because it's "easier" (due to Sonata similarities) would be a bad PR/customer service move!

Completely disagree with that view.I brought a Technology model( Which I paid EXTRA for also) bc I didn't feel that the ultimate was worth 3.5k.. Not because I couldn't afford it

the 9.2 screen is shared with the "base" equus.

I don't share the view on it being a bad PR move either, Why should I have to wait while they work out the bugs on the Intel system

V8 owners were the first to start having their tires replaced, I see nothing wrong if signature and Technology model owners are the first to have their HU's updated

Does that mean all the bugs were resolved on the 1st Generation ?
Curiously how do you think the 1st year of the 2nd Generation compares with the 1st year of the 1st Generation as far as “quirks”.

Dunno. I would never buy the first model year of a new generation vehicle. At least I haven't yet. Also, I wouldn't spend the extra money on the highest trim package. Over the years I've usually found that a mid-level trim package works best for me technically and financially.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I hope to get car play and android auto in my ultimate, but do not think that should delay porting to 8" if it can be done quickly. I don't have either software now and it won't hurt me if non-ultimates get it first. Hopefully the 9" is a newer tech and it was designed with expectation of upgrade. Just have to wait.

I intentionally bought the Technology packages believing/hoping that the chances for an upgrade to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for existing owners are higher than on the Ultimate packages.

There is a reason why Hyundai should roll out the upgrade to models with the 8" system asap: Streaming audio apps like Spotify do not work when connected to the USB port; only streaming through Bluetooth works but that is a crippled solution with limited functionality, e.g. it has no ability to scroll forward/backward a song on the screen and displays no album art. Also, one has to use a 12V power port to charge the phone. So, upgrading to CarPlay and Android Auto would fix a known flaw of the system and should be given a high priority.

You paid for extra options, not special treatment. Every Genesis owner should be treated the same by customer service, not tiered based on options. Is there a special lane for ultimate owners at the dealership?

AWM, I had the same logic. The 9.2" screen is great, but it is based on potentially dead-end tech that rippled down from the Equus. The 8" screen is based on the new tech that will directly support Android and Apple solutions. The only difference between the Sonata and the Genesis 8" systems is the rev level of the software. And, I really, really liked the split screen view. No matter how Hyundai rolls upgrades (if any) on the 2015 will have a lot of people bitching.

And where did I say I wanted special treatment?? I just explained why some might think the Ultimate should get upgraded first - I specifically said I felt all models should be upgraded at the same time. But to be honest, with Siri Eyes Free, I already have most of what Carplay will bring so am not too concerned about if/when we get upgraded.

I liked the split screen on the non-Ultimate models too - not sure why they did not implement on the 9.2" system. However, the HUD and real wood trim really sold me on the Ultimate - no way I could live with the plastic gloss "woodgrain" in the lower trim levels - really cheapened the interior feel to me. And once you get used to the HUD, you never want to drive a car without one - it's that good! Now, if they could just solve the sunroof/ headliner creaks/rattles...

So the AA download for the sonata is now available on myhuyndai. Anyone want to try it out on the genesis?

^this. Also I gotta say I use the rotary knob all the time, really missed it when I drive a loaner w the 8" system.

I have both 2015 Genesis and 2015 Sonata. The download option only shows up when logged in under the Sonata. Let me play with it and see if I can download the file to my desktop and send it to you.

nice! PM me when you get it.

PM sent. I have the initiation file. You simply open it to a usb drive. I just did it myself and I am about to install in my Sonata.

Anyone try to install the sonata version of this yet ??

I installed it in my Sonata last week. Works. :D
