  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any lowering springs for 2015 Genesis sedan?

The local Hyundai another city over had a lift system that they could adjust all the way down to the ground to work on the car. Still very odd no one in my area has a lift system that goes low.

Well, I'm not happy with them. Rear springs and drop is perfect, but the problem is with the front ones.

They (ARK springs seller's website) claim that front will be lowered approx. 1.2" .... hmm, in my case it's 1.75! They rub almost every turn I make, going in or out of the driveway, little bumps/dips on the road, way too often. Storm springs is the same thing - no go.

Guys......can you do me a favor, please! measure the height from the ground to fender arch, how much are you lower, I need to know if there is any difference between V6 and V8 .....it seems that V6 is lowered 1.5" and V8 1.75"

One more thing!

There was a post 2-3 weeks ago -a member posting a picture of his silver-ish Genesis with lowered springs (probably) put backwards! rear was sitting way too low. I can't find this post so I could ask him if that was the case actually.

I'm thinking ......looking at the picture of those springs, it seems that rear ones are taller. I wonder IF I would put rear springs in the front, it would help and rise the car ~.5 inch ??

hard to believe there's no coilover option for our cars.. i thought Megan was introducing a set?

I contacted ARK Performance and we will work on a solution to fix the drop on front.

Like I said 1"-1.25 would be perfect drop for front. w/o rubbing with oem or aftermarket wheels.

Guys on ARK springs!

PLEASE contact them if you think that front drop is too aggressive! and it rubs!

They need our feedback, otherwise they won't do anything. I was the first guy to contact them and complain about it.

I haven't had any problems yet - but I'm a 3.8 on OEM 18s, so a) the front end isn't as heavy and b) I'm not running aggressive/oversize wheels.

??

Suggest measure from wheel center to fender arch, as wheel size + tire diameter, tire pressure, unlevel ground all could be variables.

Good luck with your front drop battle Darerkibmw

Installed! Ark springs with stock 18s.

Not sure why Photobucket always resizes so small, but click the image, then the magnifying glass to enlarge.

Now who wants to donate some wheels...

This looks great patrick. How is the ride? If the ride on stock springs is 10/10. How do these Ark rate? Good direct comp as you're running stock wheels/tires. Thanks.

Thanks! I'd say there's no significant loss of ride quality from stock. It handles a little more firmly, but it's still as comfortable as when I drove it off the lot. I've yet to rub tires on fender at all, and I was on some pretty rough roads in BFE Texas last week, but I think if I were running a more aggressive wheel fitment rubbing might happen occasionally.

One thing that I've been super careful about and have messed up anyway is parking lot curbs - the front end of the bumper hangs a lot lower than you think, and I've dinged it twice now thinking I was far enough back.

Sorry for the delay in updates. Here are some pictures of her lowered 1.2"-1.4" with ARK Performance springs, sitting on 20" TSW Bathurst gloss gunmetal wheels:

Sorry for the busy background and terrible mid day lighting. I wasn't planning on taking pictures of her when I initially parked in front of my garage.

Hey,

Are those genesis wing hubcaps you have in the TSW bathurst wheels? if so, where did you find ones that fit? I just bought set of silver bathurst 19 inches and am looking for genny hubcaps. (I am not able to send private messages, maybe newbie rules)

Thanks!

Lots of options on eBay/Amazon - just search Genesis wheel center caps.

G530,

got the ARK GT-Fs installed Monday. drop is minimal. .75" on the rear, maybe .5" on the front if i'm being optimistic. Ride is still smooth. Motions are better controlled and body roll is reduced greatly. I feel less understeer as well. the car is simply more willing to change direction in response to the steering wheel.

car is *slimy* due to the daily rains right now. I promise I'll post better pics this weekend after a wash but my results are similar to Reggie's empire gray you quoted above.

Unfortunately, they aren't. They are the TSW caps that come with the wheels. If you bought springs from ARK you've probably seen better pictures of the caps on their website as my car is the car they used as the example pictures. Although I think they photoshopped the TSW logo off the caps.

If you find Genesis caps that actually fit the size of that opening and match the color of the wheels keep us posted because that may be something I'd be interested in.

Thanks for that valuable feedback. Always loved the aggressive stance but at this point in life, comfort is a priority. Alas, dont think lowering the "luxury" ride is in the cards for this family sedan. Wife's knickers already in the twist over the new wheels. I may sneak it in down the line.....:p

Been seaching for better visual center caps. Just dont like the ones came with the wheels (silver). I bought this late at night I liked http://www.ebay.com/itm/252494214896?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Hmm, now that i am wide awake, I realized it's going to be 10mm smaller than the center hub cap that came with the TSW wheels. Hahaha! Well, might just settled for the batman logos from ebay!

Anyone that went with plus size wheels. Where did you get car alignment? with a 30 offset, i can see has excessive negative camber on the rear. Firestone couldn't do the 4 wheel alignment b/c of the car's self drive stay within line etc...

So alignment at the dealer?

I just did alignment. I went to Just Tires instead of a dealer. They didn't care when I told them my car is lowered by .5''-.75''

They said that caster isn't adjustable on Genesis, though.

Thanks for the instant technical support. Love that!

Does your Genny have Tech package: Lane departure warning & lane keep assist? Did Just Tires ask about this feature?

It's a 5.0 basic that comes with all those futures (which I don't use, I turned them off, lol) and they didn't ask.

They only said it could be a problem to adjust close to a factory specs, if the car was lowered by ~2-3 inches.

Yeah, when I had my 5 series E60 it was lowered over 2.5 inches. So got more than my money's worth using Firestone Lifetime cr@ppy alignment.

Called Just Tires and told them about self drive, Lane assist, Tech didn't care "yeah we can do it". I also called Pops and Son, legendary alignment shop in Fullerton. They said mechanically they can do any cars, but electronically they can't.

I'll just take it to Hyundai stealers for $115 next week if there are no other options. They should know their own cars. I paid for these features and would have peace of mind knowing they'll do it right (I hope).

Thanks for quick response!
