If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anybody seen 2015 Genesis on the road?

I saw one today in Maple Ridge British Columbia, Canada. Wait a minute,............It was me. I Love my 2015 Geny Tech Casablanca White.:)

I have only seen one on the road but today I was able to drive my new 2015 Montecito Blue 5.0 Ultimate home and have a smile from ear to ear :D

First time I've posted. I've been lurking this forum for over a month and enjoyed the discussions.

We recently drove 3000 miles around Lake Michigan-up to Michigan, then Mackinaw Island, the Upper Peninsula, over to Ironwood, then down to Door County Wisconsin, then Madison, and then back to Ann Arbor and home to Columbus. We were driving a rental Madza3 (our new Genesis purchase was still in the works). The entire 17 day trip was uneventful and we did not see a single Genesis! I've started noticing other Hyundai models and there were a lot of Sonatas, Santa Fe and Elantra models driving out there, but no Genesis. Not even Equus.

Ya don't see many around here (in SE Michigan) cuz it's basically Ford and GM country. I've only seen one other 2g here in the last four months, though I see 1gs fairly regularly, just not very many of those either. When I go south to visit my daughter in NC I see see MANY 1gs and Equus. I think it's the same even further south.

I have seen one in Monterrey CA. I am surprised but sales of Genesis were lower in September 2014 than they were in September 2013. 2248 compared to 2926. The first generation averaged around 3000/month. Why the slow sales. I have a first generation and am thinking of a Mercedes C. Better resale, prestige name, lower weight, better mileage. Using the same drive train, increasing the weight and raising the price isn't helping sales.

^ Can't go by month to month as can vary widely depending on deals or supply.

Also, Genesis sales in the US include coupe sales and coupe sales are down due to the discontinued T4.

Aside from May (1st full month of the new sedan) - the Genesis (both bodystyles) has been around 3k a month.\

Sale of the new sedan worldwide are at around 28k.

I don't think price has a lot to do with it.

My wife is a typical luxury car buyer. Her last 3 cars have been Lexus, Benz, Lexus. She would not buy a Hyundai luxury car.

She likes the experience in sales and service she gets from Lexus and Mercedes. A Hyundai would not even cross her mind.

Me, I know the ins and outs of the car business so put up with the sales and service shortcomings if I can the right car at the right price. I'll work with sales and service to get things right and I'll not settle for poor workmanship. If something needs to made right I'll bring it back until its is made right.

I do think you get more experienced people in the high line stores and, while that doesn't change the numbers, it makes for a nicer experience. In the low line stores, and that includes Toyota, Chevy, etc. Their first assumption is that you can be taken advantage of and they will try.

You have to demonstrate you have information and can't be fooled. In the high line stores they assume you've been all over the internet and you know all the numbers.

Has nothing to do with high end or low end IMHO just the fact that as you age you have more experience and know what works and does not work so you are less likely to have the wool pulled over your eyes.

True story. I bring in my 2010 4.6 for an oil change after about a year of ownership. Girl at the counter tells me I need to flush the cooling system, flush the brake lines and since it is a heavy big car and the tires are so big, I also need to have it re-aligned. I can't remember the price which was quoted but something around $350. Told them to simply do my oil change and never went back there for service. In fact, even my 2012 Rspec never saw the Hyundai dealer as I took both for regular maintenance to a well know local independent garage.

I will try the dealership again with my gen2 but even the mention of anything stupid like before and bye bye.

My wife took her Honda in for a routine oil change at 14,000 miles. I have my wife use my cell phone number incase any issues arise. I get a phone call that she needs a new cabin filter and air filter. I told them no. I get home from work and pop out both filters and they still look like brand new. I will never go back to that dealer again.

That's my point. My wife doesn't drive much. She got one of those mailers from the dealer that it was time for an oil change.

When she shows up at service they checked the oil monitor in the car and looked at the oil and told her she needn't get the oil changed until the monitor in the car told her it was time. Sent her on her way, no charge.

The perception of an honest business relationship is worth a lot to some people.

A couple of months ago my Chrysler mini van was making a noise in the engine compartment. It was intermittent. I took it to my local service station and left it for a day. They called and said it was the alternator, bearings were shot. I wanted to double check so I took it to Tires Plus near my house. They looked at it and discovered the fan bearings were too blame, replaced the fan at half the price, problem solved.

Point is that your local service center is fine for changing brake pads, air cleaners, very specific maintenance items. Diagnosing problems is hit or miss.

There's a reason a Genesis costs a lot less than a comparable BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Audi and the cost cutting really shows up in all the areas not taken care of at the factory.

Hyundai Genesis sales will be low until people who value the total luxury experience have confidence Hyundai can provide the experience they want. In the meantime, Hyundai will sell to those of us who can push through the low line dealer BS.

I think your anecdote proves my point. That's not the experience you get at any of the high line dealers in my area.

The comments on dealer experience is typical of so many dealers. The reason you don't hear as many complaints from BMW and Mercedes is that most people lease and those cars have free repairs. A certified used BMW or Mercedes is covered by warranty bumper to bumper until 100,000 miles. The common practice of the air and cabin filters is a standard pitch by most dealers. I had Honda install a new timing chain on my 2008 Odyssey at 100,000 miles. The dealer told me I needed new engine mounts for $1400.

Getting back to why 2015 Genesis are few and far between. The price has been pushed up enough that people are saying "for $5000 more I can have a BMW or Mercedes with fewer features but still a true luxury car".

Hyundai pulled the price trigger too fast. To turn this around the 2016 Genesis will need to add more standard features for the price (Just like Genesis did in the 2012-2013). Also they need to get some high efficiency engines in the mix (hybrid, turbo,CVT or dual clutch).

<snip>A certified used BMW or Mercedes is covered by warranty bumper to bumper until 100,000 miles.

This would be very surprising, and better than the new car warranty that they're sold with. Are you certain of this?

If that were true why wouldn’t you just buy a certified one instead of a new one with less of a warranty? I priced them before I purchased (certified) and never found one with a warranty like that. (In New York anyway)

I've seen one, an hour ago, silver-ish color, heading north on hwy. 99 towards Sacramento, near Florin.
Those led's are catchy :)

Saw my first last week in an Autozone parking lot. Same color. Looked to be my twin from the outside. Rear wings and all.

Saw a new 3.8 in Silver in my neighborhood today. Only one other than mine I've seen.

Since I bought mine, I have yet to see one on the road. Only seen one prior to buying mine...
