There has been quite a bit of speculation if Apple Carplay and Android Auto will be available on the '15 and '16 Genesis.
It pains me to say that if you have the Ultimate version of the 2015 or 2016 Genesis, you will NOT be receiving the Android Auto or Apple Carplay updates that are accessible to Sonata owners and that will at some point be available to Base, Tech, and Signature Genesis owners.
Hyundai is claiming AA and Carplay are not compatible with the Premium Driver Information System (DIS) on the Ultimate Genesis. I am highly skeptical that there is an actual insurmountable technology barrier. Instead, I believe Hyundai has made the choice to not spend additional $$$ on R&D since there aren't many Ultimate Genesis on the road. Again, this is just my speculation, but while Hyundai may save some $$$ today, they will surely enrage many Ultimate owners, which strikes me as an odd strategy considering Hyundai is attempting to launch Genesis as a stand-alone premium brand. Positive word of mouth and brand loyalty go a long way in the infant stages of any brand.
If you are disappointed in this development, please make your voice heard and contact Hyundai corporate. While Hyundai has been responsive and courteous in my dialog with them, I haven't been able to accomplish much on my own. Perhaps Hyundai will change their stance if they receive enough customer feedback.
