  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can anyone confirm if you can stream through Bluetooth to the Hyundai Genesis 2011 Tech Package Navigation with knob on console. Considering purchasing and just wanted to see if this option was available.

Not exactly sure what your question is. Can you tell us what you want to do?

Bluetooth as you may know is a small network connection between devices. I can connect my Phone to my Genesis with Bluetooth. What devices are you talking about?

If you look on page 4-153 of the 2011 manual, it describes how to use the head unit to stream bluetooth music from your phone.

Just looking to stream music (Pandora) from iPhone or Droid X to car audio system.

So far I haven't been able to figure it out on my 2010 with Iphone OS 4.0.

Me either on the '09, but a poster says he can do it on the '11 non-tech. He posted pics too.
I said in that thread I'm surprised that version works, but not in the tech.
Oh well, as long as Pandora works with the iPhone cable I'm fine.

The instructions on that page do not work on my 2011 4.6. The menu options necessary to follow the instructions do not exist on the 4.6, and as far as I know, all of the V8s have the DIS with scroll wheel.

It doesn't look like A2DP is supported on the 2011 Genesis 4.6. This is really a shame. I just picked up my car 3 days ago and assumed this feature would be in the top of the line Genesis b/c it worked flawlessly in the Santa Fe I was sitting in on the dealer show floor while I was waiting for the paperwork to be completed for my Genesis.

This is not a deal killer to me, but I think the type of person that is attracted to this vehicle is probably tech savvy and likes to play with their gadgets. Not sure why it doesn't support A2DP streaming, maybe/hopefully it is something that could be corrected with a firmware update.

Yeah, I agree it would be nice. But now I'm wondering how often I'd use it due to the battery drain on the phone. I think even if the feature were there I'd plug it in out of habit and to keep the phone charged.
Thoughts?

Agree. It seems to me that the only advantage of bluetooth audio streamimg is being free of the cable but at the cost of running down the battery. I will probably end up putting my music on a usb flash drive that stays in the car and keep my iphone in my pocket. Obviously that doesn't work for Pandora but that's not an issue for me.

I am an avid Slacker Radio user so not having Bluetooth streaming is a disappointment as I will not be able to control (at a minimum) the track skipping using my steering wheel controls.

Also, I like the idea of using my phone (Droid Incredible) for audio because not only do I have Slacker and Pandora options, but I also have my own MP3's and use Beyond Pod to download podcast to the device nightly. Using the phone as a media device simplifies things. Being able to control the phone via the head unit or steering wheel controls would be a big plus.

All that said, I will probably end up storing music on a USB drive and leaving it in the car.

As for bluetooth battery drain, just keep my phone on the charger.

I just found a great work around.. I purchased a bluetooth streaming device from Amazon for less than $20 bucks with shipping. It looks like the iPhone will support both the Genesis phone connection and the audio connection at the same time. I really should have tested that before posting but it says connected to Genesis and this device in bluetooth list on iphone. i can stream iphone audio music and from apps like pandora to the Genesis. I am going to buy another for when I travel. it is small and has a usb cable for the power to recharge which works with Genesis USB. And for iPhone charging I just purchased a small cigarette lighter USb adapter into the port under the armrest.

Update works great and the genesis keeps both it's internal Bluetooth and the device connected. Meaning I can still use phone and stream music. Phone has priority! The only negative is I can't skip music from steering wheel. Also I have to turn on the device after car shutdown. Other than that, works great.

What is this update? How do I get one?
I have a 2011 4.6 Genesis. It will be great if I could stream music from my iPhone 5S via bluetooth.

Read my previous post to "update". The update is I had not tested it yet and when I posted that I was just saying I was updating my previous post. In my previous post I told you where to buy the device and how it works.
