  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Audio problem

Timeout's method

If you have the Tech Package, next time you run into this no-audio issue or the voice command is not working, please try this:

Go to ENG menu (by pressing these buttons simultaneously: Disc/AUX, Navi/Menu, Back and the Volume Knob on the DVD player).

Go to the "Software Update" submenu and selet "To full ENG full mode". When you select it, it prompts for a key code.

If you have the old head unit with old NAV maps (2009 and 2010), first try entering ##0324#0704## as key code.

If you have a newer head unit (2011 or later) or upgraded the NAV maps, enter 0324 as key code. Once you enter the code, on the left hand side there will be few more menu items that make up the full engineering mode.

Select "Diagnostics" submenu then select "Reset Component". Select UTA. This should reset the Amplifier. If audio doesn't come back, try resetting the other components.

4.6 V8, I had the same problem of a "dead unit" once in the 3 years I've owned my 2012 Genesis Sedan. I've also had continual problems with the "surround sound" box staying checked. I'm pretty happy with the rest of the car. I love the styling and yes the curvy illuminated flouresant light above the headlights. It's still cool as I haven't seen a bunch around. A note to Hyundai, need an auto lock trunk as I've drained my battery a dozen times because it didn't latch properly. I'm waiting to get my car in for a nav upgrade for $99.00

I have a 2012 tech v6. It has always had the audio cut out (cd player still plays (does not skip))... radio cuts out... aka audio stops even though the cd player and/or radio still works - just no audio.

I have done this reset component thing and it still cuts out. I'm looking for a fix. A real and final fix for this...

The cd player was replaced by the dealer at least 2 times before and it still does it.

Anyone have a final fix?

Thanks,
David

Does everyone who has this 'audio out' (cuts out, stops, whatever...) have the metal DIS knob (17 speaker system)? That is what mine is...

Maybe we can track down, by elimination, what the problem is...?

I have it. Happened twice in 7 months.

2012 tech prem 25k miles

When you open the front driver door you will see a panel on the inside of the car, open that and there is a reset button for the audio.

Hi,
Yes, I know its the big yellow fuse right? I have pulled it and I can tell that it resets something because my trip goes back to zero.

BUT, it doesn't fix the problem. That's why I'm asking WHAT component actually is the failed part?!

Is it the HU? if so what part in the head? the CD player? A relay inside the HU?

Is it the amp?

or is there some other piece of equipment someplace along the line of...

DIS controller ------> CD player (radio) -------> speakers ---]

Does anyone know of the most effective (or only) replaced component that has fixed the audio cut out problem? Is it the amp? CD player? DIS controller?

I would think that over the last few years that people would have drilled down to the right part that has to be replaced and that information would have been listed here. It only seems as if people are still grasping at straws...

Thanks,
David

this just happened to me yesterday as well. hasn't done it in 6 months. could be the amp.

will keep an eye on this and let dealer know next time im in for service

So after years of this problem there is no official fix! I would like an admission by Hyundai: "We know there is an issue" (how can they not) "but we are unable to fix it."

For me the take away from this whole mess is to (1) read the forum for any car I'm interested in buying and (2) accept or reject a car with it's issues while knowing that the builder of the car may be clueless or unwilling to correct a known issue. Is this car, with its well known problem(s), worth owning?

Thank you Echua5 for posting the vid on the eng mode. For some reason was unable to locate it till now. Kinda scared to mess with too much stuff but the Genesis logo and amp reset is an excellent start. I would be thrilled if anyone knew what all (or most) of the settings on the Engineering mode did or what they even stand for, and which ones to never mess with. Also I wonder if there is a way to add/remove certain display modes on the mini screen in between the gauge clusters ... For instance I don't need the compass cause I have a good sense of direction and Its on the mirror already. I love the next turn directions from the navigation and the time driving and the distance till empty (and of course the A Cruise Control display). It would be fun to find other choices, but most likely they would already be there if the existed ? Thanks again !

I do not have a "To full ENG full mode" as an option - what might be the cause of that?

You probably have the old DIS software. Try this:

- Press the INFO/PHONE button twice to enter the Phone Menu.
- Select Phone Book --> New Entry
- Select the symbol "1@" in the speller and then, "OK"
- Enter "##0324#0704##" and then "OK"

Now you should be in the Full Eng Mode menu.

...I JUST SAW THIS.....OMG MY 09 UNIT HAS AN OLD FIRMWARE AND IT KEPT REBOOTING, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Work's:)

So I tried to do the reset in my hidden menu but mine just says update or check update noting that will let me put the code in, also my volume doesn't display on the screen. Its odd, I can try to move the nob or use the volume on the steering wheel but nothing shows on the head unit maybe its my amp?

I tried all of that several times and the screen says cannot reset. Wth!!! Happen to a friend of mine with his Equus. What are next steps if it will not let you reboot under UTA or any other component?

My issue is with my 2012 Genesis sedan, the radio and CD and Navi work just fine. The aux and USB port do not work. I have replaced it with a new one and still nothing....you can very very faintly hear some sound but that with the radio maxed out and even the you have to hold your ears really close to even notice. Anyone have a solution ?
