  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Audio problem

My issue is with my 2012 Genesis sedan, the radio and CD and Navi work just fine. The aux and USB port do not work. I have replaced it with a new one and still nothing....you can very very faintly hear some sound but that with the radio maxed out and even the you have to hold your ears really close to even notice. Anyone have a solution ?
Sounds like a blown or water damaged amp. The genesis has some sort of air flap leading directly to the undercairige of the car this lets in water my audio stoped worki f after i pressure washed the undercairige under the rear bumper . Basically the audio came back for a bit and stopd a few times now i got a repacement amp for witch the part number is 963703M350 for us version and 963703M360 in my case for canadian version at dealr this part is 4k on eabay its 200$. Basically wjat i found in the trunk is that trough this flap a bit of salt and dirt got in but it was only close to the flap not anywhere else behind the passenger side trunk carpet trim that covers the wheel well. What likely happened is then i put the pressure nosle in the sheel well some water steam from the pressure washer got inside and shotred the amp temprarily as the sound came back after i tried to put tue amp back in a few weeks later out of interest. The replacment amp was in during that time period. Basicllay jist get new amp form eaby and i will also post wiring and location diagram for the amp. Once again the map is on the pasenger side of the trunk behind the carpet liner.

This link will give you full 2009to 2014 genesis shop manual and electrical diagnosis manual just download run.exe and select show menu in the screen with the video. This is where i got the picture from as well i drew the labels on though.

Hi,
Yes, I know its the big yellow fuse right? I have pulled it and I can tell that it resets something because my trip goes back to zero.

BUT, it doesn't fix the problem. That's why I'm asking WHAT component actually is the failed part?!

Is it the HU? if so what part in the head? the CD player? A relay inside the HU?

Is it the amp?

or is there some other piece of equipment someplace along the line of...

DIS controller ------> CD player (radio) -------> speakers ---]

Does anyone know of the most effective (or only) replaced component that has fixed the audio cut out problem? Is it the amp? CD player? DIS controller?

I would think that over the last few years that people would have drilled down to the right part that has to be replaced and that information would have been listed here. It only seems as if people are still grasping at straws...

Thanks,
David
a bit late of a reply but it was the amp i had same issue

If you have the Tech Package, next time you run into this no-audio issue or the voice command is not working, please try this:

Go to ENG menu (by pressing these buttons simultaneously: Disc/AUX, Navi/Menu, Back and the Volume Knob on the DVD player).

Go to the "Software Update" submenu and selet "To full ENG full mode". When you select it, it prompts for a key code.

If you have the old head unit with old NAV maps (2009 and 2010), first try entering ##0324#0704## as key code.

If you have a newer head unit (2011 or later) or upgraded the NAV maps, enter 0324 as key code. Once you enter the code, on the left hand side there will be few more menu items that make up the full engineering mode.

Select "Diagnostics" submenu then select "Reset Component". Select UTA. This should reset the Amplifier. If audio doesn't come back, try resetting the other components.

Please post results here.
