  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dead battery

Update:

A little late as I have been busy.

Let me begin by saying.....I'm an idiot.

So, after installing the Energizer, I decided to put it on the NOCO to slow charge to max. Then I noticed that the NOCO was set to standard 12v, not AGM. So changed it but it got me thinking, when and how did it change. I had unplugged it but it should retain last setting. That's when the lightbulb went off. What if I had been trickle charging my OEM in stnd rather than AGM mode. Hooked it up and let it charge on AGM. Once charged, checked the voltage ...12.6v. Damn, that's voltage of a good AGM battery. So, for sh!ts and giggles, I decided to get it tested under load. Well guess what? Test came back...perfectly good battery. So, it seems that my OEM was never getting fully charged under stnd mode and with my limited driving and often shorter distances, battery could never get fully charged..

Long and Short...put OEM back in and it has been perfect. Energizer (never left the garage while in the car) went back to Costco today.

Moral of the story...don't do dumb sh!t like I did LoL.

Good to know there's still juice left in the old OEM. Chalk it up to a learning experience. Thanks for the update.
Yeah, the one good thing out of this is that we know that the Energizer will work as a replacement. Not a perfect fit, but a definite option.

Well folks, I discharged my battery twice in the last week. We are filling the car to prep it for transport across the country, so had doors open, and that seemed to do it. My thinking is that it died too easily, but who knows. Also, completely discharging the battery twice is certainly going to shorten whatever life it has left. My OEM charged fully overnight. Took almost 10 hrs from pretty much dead, and took off the NOCO before it could get into maintenance mode. Who knows, maybe the OEM has life in it yet, but just don't want to take the chance. It's already 3 yrs old and with so many reports of these OEM batteries dying early, this morning, picked up the Energizer AGM Group 65 battery from Costco as mentioned in my previous post. Just got it installed and although it was pretty much charged, I have my NOCO Genius 5 on it topping it off. It shows green with with all other lights so still not fully charged.

The "MacGyvering" (you older folks will get the reference): Since I am staying with family temporarily before our move, I have little of my stuff. So had to find stuff to help with the fitment to keep battery snug, since, as noted in my previous post, the Energizer is slightly smaller than OEM. I went to Dollarama to find what I need. First, for under the battery to keep it from slightly rocking, I picked up a rubber placemat...the kind that look like that perforated rubber mats for under area rugs to keep them from sliding around. I doubled it up, and it worked perfectly just to keep it snug because the rubber compresses easily. Don't want anything super thick because it will raise the battery pushing up the positive battery assembly (since the +ve post sits higher on the Energizer), and in turn, not allowing the cargo floor to fully seat and stick up slightly.

Then for the space between the top of the battery and the OEM bracket that holds it in, I bought a pair of those cheapo foam black/gray knee pads, cut up 6 small squares the width of the bracket, and used three under the bracket at each end of the battery. The foam is dense enough but also compresses as you press and tighten the bracket bolts down. The battery is nice and snug and not going to move even a little bit.

Time will tell how this Energizer holds up. Moving to the West Coast so won't be facing the frigid temps of Ontario winters anymore. Nevertheless, I can tell how the battery is doing just by how it starts, so should be able to compare. Will update on my findings after living with the Energizer for a while.

I bought my 2022 GV70 preowned about 18 months ago and the battery died on me a couple of months later. I purchased a replacement from AutoZone, had it delivered to my door, and installed it myself in 15 minutes. Absolutely no issues whatsoever. I paid around $250.

Here's the link to the battery I purchased: Duralast Platinum AGM Battery BCI Group Size 65 750 CCA 65-AGM
Just so everyone is crystal clear…

I have a 2022 GV70 3.5T, and I had AutoZone deliver the following battery to my home this morning, and I swapped it out myself in 20-30 minutes - No Problem, good as new!

Does it have the same dimensions as factory battery? Nope

Does it have the same specs as the factory battery? Nope

Does it void the Battery Warranty? Who Cares?

Is it available immediately for $250, and does it work flawlessly? 100%

Is the battery working fine? Any issue? Exact fit? Thanks Karl

My 2022 GV70 battery died at the Genesis dealer waiting for an oil change. They leave the car doors open and emer flasher on for every. They got a battery at Auto Zone and built a battery cable kit (OK with Genesis) and made a refit that will work on any batt if it fits in the hole. No charge. Just saying...
Any chance you could post what the cable "refit" work around looks like? Thanks!
