  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Debadging the "Genesis" logo on trunk lid. Pictures needed.

I recently removed some giant dealer stickers off my car and it looks much better. Personally, I completely debadged my 2004 Maxima (except for the Nissan logo) because it has a nice symmetrical look to it and the "3.5 SE" was just useless, but I found the Genesis looks fine with just the "genesis" word and Genesis badge (I hate the hyundai one).

And in case anyone isn't sure, heating up the logo/badge/letters then using dental floss or fishing line to cut through the glue works very well. You can then use a microfiber cloth and WD40 or other more specific products to clean up. I did that for a few minutes and all adhesive was gone.

Quick Q: The holes on the 2015 Sedan trunk that are left after removing the H badge...do we need to fill them with something (so they do not have any leaks), before putting the new logo on?

Also, any words of wisdom in terms of positioning the new logo...before I remove the tape for final stick?

Thanks

Looked at some other posts; and used a quick setting clear caulk to seal the holes; and then applied the new badge...rough eyeball, then temp tape, then used a ruler to adjust to line up wrt the bottom lip, and then removed the backing and done.

The service guys at the dealer wanted $90 to do this (plus cost of the badge; parts dept sells for $39 plus tax)....more money for gas :-)

PS: Removal of H was pretty painless...with a small hair dryer, and 50 lb fishing line.
