  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Disappearing Genesis Dealerships

Do you know if the buildings located at the address shown on Genesis of Hendersonville site have been converted to a dedicated Genesis dealership?

The Google Maps image from last month, (link below), shows only the Hunter Powersports facility at that address

I called & that's where they service genesis one day a week but they have to do it at their old facility rather than a new one...can't figure that out...

Why not ask them why?

Here in the tech sector of the Pacific Northwest (Seattle/Portland), we have only 1 Genesis EV approved dealer (5 state area). It’s housed in an old Ford dealership 50 mins from Seattle/Bellevue with no showroom and about 35+ GV60s sitting for some time out on the lot. The service center is a few miles away in the old Hyundai dealership.

The pre-post sales experience as been pretty sketchy for 3+ months now, but they hope to open a stand alone facility within 2 years. No other options for many miles and so odd for an area so perfect for the E-GMP platform cars. I read on this forum that GMA tried to open 100 US stand alone retail stores but met resistance from the dealers/NADA. Not well thought out IMHO compared to Lexus, et al. We’ll see.

So, I got the GV80 recall notice in the mail, & called the Hyundai location where I bought the car (Hyundai of Asheville) & was told they no longer have "anythinng to do" with Genesis, which seemed strange...
Then called the local Hyundai dealer (Hunter Hyundai of Asheville) & was told that they will still service my Hyundai, but that they were not allowed to service Genesis at their new (mucho $$$) facility, but they could do it at their old location, but only on Wedesdays & only using valet...
Contacted Concierge, & of course they were "shocked," & would look into it, but I could try Genesis of Greer (SC), some 50 mils away...
Within days, I received an email from Concierge stating "I checked for the Genesis retailers within 250 miles of your radius and there are no Genesis retailers within this range. We will pass this on to our management and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."...
250 miles from where I live includes Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham, & Knoxville, so begging the question, does anyone else have anything that causes anxiety regarding the stability of the Genesis brand?...

this is something about genesis service and corporate that concerns me, as someone who doesn't yet have but wants a GV60.

there are several dealers within 250 miles of asheville. there's one in Matthews, NC, slightly north of CLT...and one in Columbia, SC. not that those are close, by any means (Greer is definitely the best bet) but I don't understand why the concierge didn't 'know' that, or mention those dealers. (quick google leads me to believe there's on in Atlanta, as well, although I'm too lazy this morning to check if that's a freestanding dealership.) is it just that they're unable to do the service? and if so, what does this mean for someone in asheville considering a genesis?

Oh, it just keeps getting better...Update: I had the GV80 scheduled with the local Hyundai/former Genesis dealership the byzantine process - only on Wednesdays, or Firdays, depending on who you spoke with, & only valet - for August 2nd, & got an email this morning that it had been cancelled & I'd have seek help elsewhere...That leaves me with a dealership the next state over & I'm waiting for a callback from their "Genesis coordinator," whatever that means...Attempts to get in touch with ANYONE at the US headquarters are fruitless, & I've been told by Customer Care someone would call me twice...I'm about ready to bag it...Lease is up march of next year...

"True luxury is about the complete experience. Designed around real needs and wants, respecting how you actually live. This is the Genesis Experience" 😳

Wait, you canceled it or they canceled it?
They cancelled it...their contract with Genesis evidently expires the end of this month..I'll go to Greer SC...

^ Anyone really think south central PA can support an independent Genesis dealership?
South central PA has Maserati, Lexus, BMW, Cadillac, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, etc ......so yes they can support an independent genesis dealership..... why wouldn't they be able to???

I had an appointment this morning for an oil change and tire rotation for my G80 and told Genesis had pulled the dealership from Hunter Automotive. They did service my car but stated they could not perform complementary services or warranty work. I suppose I will have to drive to Greenville for future service. I don't think the brand is having any stability issues. There are many Genesis automobiles in larger cities, just not in Hendersonville NC.

Oh shoot these makes me concerned as we are shopping for a GV70 for wifey, but don’t want/ need to be limited on where I can go. :(

Are there any owners located in South Jersey, if so where are you folks having yours serviced please ?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Is it better they celebrate having 300 crappy dealers? As a Genesis owner, would you rather drive 5 miles to a crappy dealer or 40 miles to an excellent one?

Not enough cars and sales to support 300 good ones.
Except that they have now closed the second closer dealership and the one they are recommending for us now is 185 miles one way. That isn't going to work for us.

This is a good thing. Well, not so much for you, but for the brand in general. The original intent was for Genesis to start by having 100 dealers and grow as needed. Because of franchise laws in 50 different states they ended up with 400 dealers, some good, some far less so. Getting rid of the poor dealers will help the reputation for good service, something that has been lacking.

Once the SUVs are in showrooms we may finally see stand alone dealers too. Better to have 150 to 200 really good dealers than 400 crappy ones.
A good thing? We haven't had our car for a year yet and they have closed the two dealerships that were within 60 miles of us. Now they wat us to use a dealership that is 185 miles one way. That isn't going to work for us. They sold us with the great service package where they take care of all the oil changes and give us a loaner car, etc. and now that is all out the window.

I think the dealership in Albuqueque has been shut down. Their website (https://www.larryhmillergenesis.com/) just says "The website you are attempting to visit is not active." This really sucks for me because the next nearest dealership is in Denver which is 5.5 hours drive from where I am.

When you phoned your dealer what happened?

I just called them, and made an appointment for service, but honestly, I have no idea is the appointment actually was made. I think the phone number I called just went to the hyundai division of that dealer. Every time I've dealt with this dealer in the past, it's been a nightmare.

Also, if you go to the official genesis website, and then you go to "find a dealer" and then enter an Albuquerque zipcode, it shows the nearest in either Colorado or Arizona.
