  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Downloaded the new software update for my 2023 GV80 via USB stick

I have a list of several items that seem to have been lost when I applied the October 25th (2022) update to my 2023 GV80 3.5T.
Perhaps if anyone uses these features they can validate if they lost the feature also with the update.

1. On the HUD I lost the speed limit sign, as others have noted. On mine, when I start up the car for the first time on a given day, the speed limit sign shows up for a few seconds then disappears. It will not show up again unless the car is off for an extended time. Also, if you do a manual reboot by holding the "map" and "setup" buttons (on the console below the display) at the same time for 10 seconds, when the system boots up, the speed limit sign will appear in the HUD for just a few seconds.

2. Also on the HUD, I have the radio/media setup to shown on the HUD. It no longer shows up al all.

3. In the cluster, the "warning over-speed" limit notification no longer works. The speed limit sign is still there and works properly. However, before the update, the speed limit sign in the cluster area (by the speedometer) used to turn the speed limit numbers red if you drove over the speed limit. The speed limit number always remain black now. A page from the manual is attached that describes this feature - that page describes this feature and the one below in item #4.

4. When using smart cruise control, before the update, anytime the speed limit changed, you would get blinking white up/down arrows in the cluster (where the cruise control info is located), which would be a notification that the cruise control was set to a speed that no longer matched the posted speed limit. You could then press the speed adjust switch on the steering wheel in the direction the arrows were pointing, and the cruise control would automatically be reset to posted speed limit. Those arrows never appear anymore. I have attached a page from the manual that describes this feature and the one in item 3 above.

5. The cluster page labeled "drive info" is only supposed to reset when the car is off for 4 hours or more, per the manual. However, since the update it resets every time the car is started, even if the car has only been off for a few seconds.

These are all items I use every time I drive. If anyone else can confirm they are missing these also after the update, I would appreciate it.

Have not checked 4 or 5, but all the rest are same as yours. Also, it seems to me the map data ddoesn't contain as many speed limit areas. Areas I had only show -- now.

I forgot one issue:
Before the update, in navigation route-avoid settings, if you had "avoid freeways" set to function, after the update "avoid-freeways" would still be set. The problem is that in the update, avoid-freeways no longer exists as a setting. So you cannot disable it. It took several calls with Genesis to correct this issue. In the end I had to completely delete my driver profile and set it up all over again. Then in my driver profile (setup-user profile), the "link genesis connected services account" showed my account was no longer linked to the car. Long story short, after hours with Genesis, they had to completely remove my vehicle from my account, and then I had to go to the Genesis owners web page, log into my account, and add the vehicle back by inputting my VIN, and some other info, and re-subscribe to the connected services. Then the connected services showed up in the "setup-user profile" as "linked" to the car.

I am not familiar with "speed limit areas". What is that about?

I think these may be related to the setting. 3 and 4 never happened to me. With the HUD, I seldom look at the cluster anyway.

Thanks for the reply.
Before the update I took a picture of every setup screen, and all the sub-screens (there are over 200). Currently, after the update, all settings in the car are the same as they were before the update - only now the features listed above, that I used frequently before the update, no longer work.

Did you contact Mapnsoft to open a case? If not, would suggest you do. You have the most comprehensive list of bugs in the Oct update I’ve seen. Thanks.

Yes I did open a case and put all the items on it along with pictures and videos of the issues.

Today mapinfo gave me a response on the 5 items I reported to them above. They said the first 4 are software bugs, but no estimated time to fix. The 5th item in my list, the one related to the drive info resetting every time I start the car, even if it has only been a few seconds, is not their issue, and I will have to see the dealer.

I know you have probably done the Head Unit Hard Reset by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, but have you tried returning everything to the factory settings and reprograming everything again.

Thanks CEM for all the work you put into reporting the issues. Much appreciated.

I also have a case in since 10/30 and have heard nothing back.

Yea, I did a factory reset and even had Genesis remove the vehicle from my account and then added it back by inputting the vin and other info. Then re-did all the driver settings from scratch.
This is my 2nd week working on this, with many calls to genesis. The worst issue was doing the update with navigation "avoid freeways" still in the old settings. The update eliminates "avoid freeways". However since I had it in the pre-update settings, it was still active, and there was no longer a setting to turn it off. So every route I did was using "avoid freeways". At that point navigation was useless. That's why I deleted all the driver settings, did a factory reset and eventually had to remove the car from my account. All good now except for the issues I listed above.

I was told the same thing by XM and that I needed to contact the dealership over a volume issue that only occurred when using XM. To make a long story short they were correct, but in my case I was able track down what may have caused the issue and was able to correct it by performing a Hard Reset of the Head Unit.

In your case service should probably request a new head unit and any module that might be connected with the issue, but unfortunately the manufacturers will not allow trial and error. They would rather drag the customer through a stressful situation.

Good Luck 🍀 I hope Genesis will do the right thing and get your issue resolved soon.

Thanks for the info. Sorry, but I dont know what "using XM" refers to. And can you expand on "volume issue"? What does that mean?
Thanks so much.

edit: Never mind. I figured out the XM refers to SiriusXM radio, and so volume is the sound volume.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Wise move.

I installed the Oct update. Yes it changed all of things CEM indicates. Question: Can we reinstall the April 2022 update to go backwards while we wait for the new update? If so, where can I located the download for the older update?
Thanks.

Someone posted either in this thread or another one that you can not go backward with updated. They seemed to know what they were talking about.

I have a 2021 GV80 3.5L. While I'm familiar with software updates for PCs, Macs, iPads and such, I'm a little confused about the Genesis updates. First, there seems to be little or no information about "why" the update is to be made: what are the 'look and feel' improvements and what are the safety-related or critical updates. Second, there also seems to be little or no information what changes are included in an update. If an update has changes to both the map and OS packages, the changes in each should be described separately.

I haven't yet tried to update with the Oct?/Nov? updater, but the other day I noticed an abrupt change in the cluster: Instead of speed and RPM indicators showing in blue, it has changed to a (what I consider) very pleasant white-ish and yellow-ish dials. And whereas the previous speedometer was marked every 5mph, this new look is marked every 1mph.

Does the car update all by itself. without a human initiating it?
