  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Downloaded the new software update for my 2023 GV80 via USB stick

If the 2021 update does work, I will give them all the info I currently have.

Will do.

So I found a feature today that I believe is new from the update, I was getting low on gas, usually I get a message to look for a station and the little gas pump indicator turns yellow.. this evening I got this big red banner warning message on the infotainment display telling me that I was low on fuel... scared the crap out of me as I thought it was some catastrophic failure. Flashed every couple of miles

OK, I pulled the trigger and installed the 2021 update to my 2023 GV80. Guess what. It worked. I now have the speed limit sign mack on my HUD. I have not driven it yet to see if it changes color like it is supposed to. I will check that later on today and let you guys know.

So, for those of you with a 2022 or 2023 GV80 that did the October 2022 update and lost the speed limit indicator on youor GV, you can load the 2021 update and correct this issue. The system will say you are loading the same update. Just say OK to load it. Once they get up another update that corrects this issue, then we can load the 2023 update again. No functions are different and to tell you the truth, it would be fine if they put one update up and listed it as the 2021-2022 update.

There may be some hardware differences that will make the updates different when we get a new system update, but this update was only for the maps and radio. We will have to wait and see. Take care everyone.

I just did the update on my 2021 GV80. Instruction were wrong. Just plugged it in and the updater runs automagically. Frickin' looked like it was hung on 0% for like 10 minutes when it started though. Then when it got to 100% it started all over again at 0%. I guess that was a second update. Anywho, took forever but everything seems to work. HUD didn't turn off when infotainment system rebooted, so dunno what's wrong with speed signs (for other people, mine work fine) but doesn't seem to actually update the HUD unit. Guess it's just a data problem.

thank you for the update, I will try the same over the weekend.

Spoke too soon. It goes away after boot just like tthe2023 update. Guess will have to wait for the fix.

Will do.

I talked to MapSoft and they took down my info, but still wanted me to talk to Genesis. I started a ticket with Genesis. They said they have paused the October 2022 update. There will be a new update mid-November. Of course, the person I talked to does not know for sure what the November update will do but thinks it may fix this HUD issue. We shall see. Too bad we do not have access to the May 2022 update. We could roll back to it and should be good to go.

Thanks for your efforts on this. Both Genesis and Mapnsoft have open cases with me also so hopefully it gets the proper attention in the next update.

We can only hope.

I think the first 100$ is downloading the files to the onboard computer, then the second 100% was installing the program. Not sure, but that is how it works on a lot of updates.

Dif the round selector knob flatten out after you installed it? 😁 (I slay me)

I dunno, was thinking first is probably for a read-only partition containing firmware and OS. Second might have been for a read/write partition containing applications and their data, like radio settings and voice memos. In any case, if it stays at 0% for 10 minutes and the whole update takes 50 minutes, that means it should have been at 20% not 0%. So instead of a "please don't unplug" warning message maybe they should fire the programmer who can't make a progress dialog work properly. If the stupid thing moved people wouldn't think it's hung and unplug/restart it. Really irritates me..

Genesis would not open a case for me and sent me to mapsoft.

same here, they sent me to Mapsoft and i have shared all the requested information with Mapsoft. iam sure they will address as more and more reports the issue. i think now Genesis site removed this Oct update from their site for GV80.

This is strange as the instructions state that once you have downloaded an Update and you loose a feature you can not get it back.
I also find it strange that it allowed you to download the 2021 update to your 2023 which would already have had the 2021 update.
I just hope you have not done something that may cause you further complications🤔
