Another issue I discovered over the course of the last week while on a lengthy road trip. The Speed Limit Assist doesn‘t work. I tried using it many times over the past week and despite it being enabled it does nothing.
I assume this is likely related to the issue of the speed limit sign not flipping to red in the cluster when the speed limit is exceeded.
Be aware, and maybe you are, but the only thing speed assist does on most roads is warn you that the speed limit has changed by doing two things: 1) turn the cluster speed limit red if the speed just reduced ("warning overspeed" in manual); 2) if using cruise control, it will flash white up/down arrows in the cluster where the cruise control info is shown, indicating you need to speed up or slow down ("changing set speed" in manual). Attached is the manual page describing these two items (speed limit assist info....). BTW, since the map update, neither of these work any more. So you get no warnings when the speed limit changes.
It is only on interstates, for the most part (some exceptions), that the smart cruise control will automatically change to the new speed. And even then, if your cruise control, before the limit changed, was not set exactly to the posted speed limit, assist will not automatically change the cruise control to the new speed limit. See the attached manual pages that describe this situation. The attached file "HDA where it works", describes what roads it will work on. The attached file "HDA when it works" describes that you must have cruise control set to the current speed limit in order for the auto update function to work when speed limit changes. The two key quotes are below:
"Highway Set Speed Auto Change
function will operate when Smart
Cruise Control set speed and the
highway speed limit is matched"
"If Smart Cruise Control set speed is
adjusted different from the speed
limit, Highway Set Speed Auto Change
function will be in the standby state."
Btw, even though the two speed limit warnings I described above are now broken, at least in my car, if I have cruise control set to the current speed limit, and I am on an interstate, if the speed limit changes, my cruise control auto changes to the new speed limit. I use it constantly, and always works. Oh, if you have set the "speed limit offset" to anything other than zero, the auto change for the speed limit will not work at all. That's in the manual also.
Hope this is helpful to someone. It took me a very long time before I discovered all these quirks. I only figured this out because I complained to the dealer, and they showed me this info.
