  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2009 Genesis 3.8 Sedan and my factory “Driver Information System” just stopped working and the little blue light on the CD changer at the slot is dimly blinking so I think I may have a loose connection. The screen is dark, the radio, nav, rear camera, etc do not work.

I am a gear head and am about 4 hours from the nearest dealer so I want to open up the dash and try to find the loose connection. So I need help opening up the dash and fixing this issue? If I just go at it willy-nilly I will probably damage something on the pristine interior. For instance, on Youtube I have seen people unscrewing the auto transmission shifter knob but when I tried to do that on mine it wouldn’t budge under “normal” pressure and I was afraid to pull and Incredible Hulk on it.

I already checked all the fuses (which all were good, although I could not find one labeled DIS or Radio, etc). I also disconnected and then reconnected the battery.

Any tips, instructions, videos or contact with someone will be greatly appreciated. For people with this type of issue in the future I will post a You Tube video of the process.

Hello the unit won't power up at all? If the blue light just blink you need repair on the unit is no problem with the harness. I suggest that if you got warranty go to the dealer and get it replace. If not I can service the repair.
Kind regards.

The head unit appears to not be working but as I noted the blue light at the CD slot is blinking. When this first happened the XM radio turned off and the unit rebooted while I was driving. It was working fine until I turned the car off and then the next time I turned on the car the DIS would not turn on.

The car is out of warranty and the nearest dealer is a long ways off so I would basically have to drive two cars for hours to drop the Genesis off. I prefer to remove the head unit and have that serviced but I need help opening the dash.
