  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello All,

It appears that recently with the cold weather, ice froze in my driver's side door unlock button. The button is compressed and won't work much anymore. Sometimes I get lucky to push it just right and the doors will unlock but I usually get aggravated enough to get the keyfob out.
I see that if the handle is pulled out to open the door, there is a small screw hidden to take the handle apart. Therefore replacing the parts inside appears to be fairly easy to do. Does anyone have a diagram of that area on the car and could assist to get the correct parts?

thanks.

Before you replace the door handle I would try spraying some electrical contact cleaner in behind the switch. Looks like there is a little room between the button and the handle surround to get it in there.

Should find it at Home Depot, Lowes, Radio Shack. Here's a link

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot. Thought about spraying de-icer but that will prob kill the electronics.

Yeah de-icer would be a no-no.
