  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Florida, California and Texas Dealer Update

i did see this little nugget of info on that Palm Springs listing:

Price includes $5,000 dealer added accessories.

I sent an email to the salesman that I was communicating with the other month. Hopefully he answers and lets us know what the $5k worth of accessories are.

The window sticker attached shows a MSRP of $46,125.

Here is a screenshot of the same car on the Genesis Build your own pricing tool. I don't see any difference. What am I missing? The "Added Features" detailed on the far right column represent the various packages totaling $10K.

SUMMARY

GENESIS G702.0T Sport Package RWD

TOTAL VEHICLE PRICE* $46,125 MSRP*

18155

^ there are two G70's in Palm Spring's inventory. the non-sport one lists the additional $5k in 'accessories' added by dealer. the Sport one lists correctly at $46k as you've shown.

^ under the description of the car...look for the “Notes” section.

I'm wondering if maybe there are two things in play here. As far as the post talking about them being marked up $10k, I'm thinking that the person saw the extra packages and that is what they thought were markups.

One of the cars is listed on CarGurus with $5k worth of dealer added accessories.

Palm Springs Hyundai

Understood, but, that is not what you posted earlier as the link above supports. I have yet to see a link to the "non-sport" model with the $5k in add-ons.
Here are the 2 links I can access on the dealer's website. Neither, show any dealer markup?

Unless somewhere there is a supplemental window sticker showing a mark-up?

Understood. But the dealer's website is not showing a supplement window sticker/mark-up price? Could CarGurus be in error or has the dealer subsequently taken the mark-up off at their website?

You cannot look at the Window Sticker since that is the original from the Port. Look at the cars on their actual site...follow my instructions.

If I remember correctly they don’t show a price for either car, just payment numbers. The window sticker on their website or Genesis’ website will just show the standards as well as port added options. More than likely they have an additional sticker on the car itself as that is required when the price is more than what the original window sticker denotes.

In this case the only place on the website the additional 5k shows is in the comments.

Edit: I just checked and the car without the markup has the price.

What do you mean? The first car listed (with the increase) has no price listed. So they are being sneaky. This is the Dynamic.

The second car has a price of $46,125...but there is no mention of a price increase. This is the Sport.

I have noticed a number of listings on dealer sites that only reference payments and not MSRP. Easier for them to manipulate the numbers or draw people in with a low payment.

Look at the window sticker. $45185
Then click in the upper right where is shows the profile and #1 It shows a price of $50185

Please explain that.

I did send a contact, I'll see if I get a reply.

I believe those numbers are all factory prices. Markups would have to be added with a secondary sticker. $46,125. is the MSRP. ??

Tried to contact the dealer and ask. I bluntly asked about the difference and it is is added options or just dealer markup . So far, just a run around. This is from an email a few minutes ago.

"Steve Allen here at Palm Springs Hyundai/ Genesis responding to your inquiry. The stock number I received H 8781 is not in stock. What type of vehicle is it you want and I will be glad to help you find one.. "

Following up, I just got this
Hi Edwin,

Your original email did not say Hyundai or Genesis so that was my mistake. Thats why I emailed you to ask which brand or model were you interested in a Hyundai or Genesis. I do still have that vehicle. There is no 5000 mark up it is 45,185 dollars and the only add on is tinted windows since we got it from Arizona and that was on the vehicle when we got it. If I can help you let me know thank you.

^ Sounds like either Steve doesn't know what is going on (which is probably the case given my experiences with Tyler there), they are hiding a markup, or they mistakenly said the price includes $5k in accessories on both their web site and cargurus. The third one is unlikely, the second is possible but the first is probable. ;)

Wasn't sure where to do the profile thing, but I got this screenshot from the Genesis of Palm Springs site.

Gotta love a dealer screwing up an already screwed up launch
