  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Forum members, your opinions on this 2016 genesis r-spec rendering?

There are no plans to come out with a Rspec version of the new Genesis Generation. For the previous model Hyundai had the Rspec to to offer the 5.0 engine but for the new model they offered the V8 engine right away without offering the Rspec version. There is nothing on the horizon for the version to come out and Hyundai has no plans on building the Rspec.

Another thing, the picture of the OP was made by Niche who makes the targa wheels and they actually did mount the wheels on the car.

Hyundai offered a 5.0 before the Rspec came out.

but there is no plans to release a Rspec version, they had the 4.6 before as well.

The "pic" in the OP of this thread is nothing more than a Photoshop exercise done by someone with no connection to Hyundai Motor Corp, so this thread should be probably be shut down.

He didn't say it was official or anything. I don't particularly like it, but it's not any worse than all the renderings that were in the spyshot thread trying to de-camo the gen2 before it came out. It's never going to get made like this so I don't find it very interesting, but that's not grounds to kill the thread.

Hyundai offered a 5.0 before the Rspec came out.
This is my recollection on Genesis V8 models from 2009-2014 in USA. Others can correct me if I am wrong:
  • 2009-2011 the 4.6 (non-Spec) was available
  • 2012 early in model year the 4.6 (non-R-Spec) was still available, but then replaced later in same year by 5.0 non-R-Spec, and also R-Spec 5.0 became available
  • 2013-2014 they dropped the 5.0 non-Rspec, and only 5.0 R-Spec was available

The thread title is:
"Forum members, your opinions on this 2016 genesis r-spec rendering?"
So it sounds like he is claiming it is from Hyundai (or from someone who actually saw the real car), even though it may be obvious to you that it is not.

I can read the thread title. How do you go from "rendering" to "released by Hyundai or someone who saw the real car"?

How is this a reply to what I said. He made it sound like the Rspec introduced the 5.0. I said it didn't, that's all. Then you reply with a timeline that doesn't clarify that issue at all in response to me instead of him?

I don't remember the exact timeline, but I thought that regular 5.0 and 5.0 R-Spec came out about the same time during the 2012 model year. Maybe the R-Spec did get the first batch of 5.0 engines, I don't recall. The regular 5.0 was a little delayed, so the 4.6 was available during the beginning of the 2012 model year (along with V6). I am just trying to clarify what happened, not trying to respond to any particular person. If I am wrong in my recollection, someone can correct me.

Guys, i don't want to enter into a discussion If the time table Of 5.0 engine and RSPEC model, I just want to give some inside information so all the members Of the forum has realiable info.

What I am saying, it's coming directly from Hyundai Headquarters and there are no plans right now for a RSPEC version Of the current Genesis.

Regards

Any update on your inside info on LED DRL's being added to upcoming builds? Any dates/VIN number ranges?

When someone posts a pic and identifies it as "2016 genesis r-spec" the presumption is that OP claims there is some credibility to it, and not just a Photoshop reflecting someone's suggestion, wishful thinking, or actual aftermarket mod of a 2015. I don't think I am the only one who initially thought, based on the thread title, that it was actual inside information being posted (at least until I looked closely at it).

Awesome !!!

I actually like the wheels. Not a fan of huge open spoke type wheels but these are pretty cool. The overall design is sweet. Like the lowered profile look. I'd buy it.:)

That looks bad a$$, but i probably wouldn't buy it. I like the very understated look of the old rspec. This reminds me more of the boldness of an AMG and I'm not that kind of buyer.

Agree, I see the similarities yet I like them both.

The only thing I really like about that shopped car is the blacked out color scheme. The tires and wheels as shown would lead to a horrific ride and the M3/M4 front end is a direct lift and would be a curb catcher.

It does however demonstrate how good white looks on those lines and with minimal blacked out trim pieces, reasonable black wheels and the pano roof could be a good look in white.

ksoze, the updated headlights with the led DRL'S is from cars produced from October and on. production starts at the beggining of each month and are shipped at the end of that month so if HMC ships the cars at the end of october I would guess they will start showing up at dealers at the end of november or maybe early december and those units should have the updated lights.

regards,

Do you know if the lights themselves are different or if it's a software/wiring change?
