Now that somebody resurrected an old thread with an unrelated post (ha ha), I'm glad he did, since I'm in that situation, sort of. I bought a 2022 3.3T SP (top of the line) a few weeks ago, due to equipment I wanted not found on the top-line 2.0T (Napa, HUD, suede-like headliner, 360 camera, Brembos). But wasn't impressed by the stiff yet wallowy ride, several rattles inside the dash and doors (not easily fixed), engine felt anemic in normal driving, and the awful noise the engine made with the freaking valves (even with speaker noise off), along with some droning even in normal drive mode, and no way to turn them off. So when I heard an awful grinding engine noise entering my garage, I immediately called dealer and told them I wanted to return the car (which is still sitting at dealer service). GM called me back and said it was fine. It was my 8th new car there, so I figured he wouldn't fight me on that. And they returned my $56K+ check on the spot, so I'm rewarding them waiting weeks for a top-line 2023 2.0T SP, since 2022s don't have ventilated seats on any trim (a deal-breaker feature), but will have to pay over 2 grand more. It'll still be about 7 grand less than the top 3.3T, and not a good deal anymore, but still cheaper than a comparable German competitor I'm not interested in buying anymore. Hope it meets our expectations, which is very likely after the research I did (feels peppier in normal driving, softer suspension than the 3.3T SP, better handling). But will still have to replace the tires, due to being PS4s (why on an under-powered 4-banger? Oh well). It should arrive this week, so we'll see. We're not interested in any other vehicle, so if this G70 2.0T doesn't convince us it's worth 50 grand out the door (including new tires), will just keep the 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy, as we don't really need two 4-
wheel vehicles anymore.
As a final comment, I left them with my $1K deposit I initially put for the 3.3T SP, which was transferred to the 2.0T SP. But I asked them in writing that it was refundable, just in case. And GM signed it. So if the 2.0T doesn't work out, I'm getting it back. We tried a Kona N, but wife didn't like it. So we waited about 2 months for the G70 2.0T, which is about to finally arrive. Bottom line is I'd never give a deposit without being refundable in writing, but that's just me. Oh, and I also made them put in writing all of these deals were at MSRP, with only a $125 doc fee as an allowed extra charge other than TTL. Will never pay over MSRP, period.
