If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 aftermarket brake pads

I do...I don't drive much (maybe 30 miles a week....fun driving is on the mc and I work from home), and have had no noise or excessive dust (yet). The G70 is great at everything....except the track. Too high and too much weight....I'm not sure yet if I should just get a semi-trick Miata for track.....or invest in further brake upgrade.
I just put Girodisk 2 piece rotors on yesterday. The stock setup with track pads did fine, but I wanted more cooling. Ironically, my front track pads didn't squeak when I drove them on the road for a week after my last event, but my rear pads - which are the Hawk Sport Plus, which are supposed to be dual purpose squeaked constantly.

I'm going to see how it goes at the track next weekend. I bought a set lighter wheels and Potenza RE17-R's for the track. There's an inherent contradiction in tracking a sport's sedan these days because they are so heavy - even the M3 is heavy. If I keep doing this, I will eventually buy a used Corvette for the track, that way I can modify it without worrying about destroying ride quality and and adding a ton of NVH to a daily driver.

^ this. the euro sport pads will solve the judder. they scrub that rotor clean!
Hiya from a fellow Canuck. Do you have some part #/equivalent G-Loc or Hawk or other top tier AFTMKT brand/more precise infos for me in terms of findings and installing these fabled "euro sport pads" on my G70 3.3T Sport 2019, please? My Laval QC dealership put four brand new rotors at 24,000km to fix the jiddering, and now at 40,700km, the jidder has re-appeared in the brake pedal, and I don't trust the Genesis/Hyundai brake parts anymore. I'd like to attack the problem with x8 new quality pads (those have never been changed during the four services on my G70), and monitor the rotors thereafter with my independent mechanic. Thank you sir.

^ yeah, the Euro compound is a semi-metallic pad (maybe a composite with some ceramic, not sure) compared to the standard ceramic pad. the ceramic pad is not as abrasive so pads/rotors do not wear enough or heat up enough to burn through pad deposits. this has been an issue for many other applications which spec ceramic pads. ceramics are great for low dust and long life. my old G37S also suffered from 'warped rotors' (actually uneven pad deposits) which was common. guys who changed pad compounds no longer had that issue.

for the euro pads i'd suggest searching part #'s for the 6MT trim OR for the US-spec 3.3T Dynamic RWD trim. compare those part #'s against the regular Sport brembo pads. as long as they differ (but match between 6MT and Dynamic) you should be good to go. i believe the OE part #'s for Euro pads were posted earlier in this thread so do a search here as well.

tip: i am told the Euro pads are pricey. and they dust a lot. but this means that they are wearing the rotor which is great for smooth judder free stops, among their other performance advantages.

Thanks my man, I’ll see what I can buy/dig out. I found the part # from earlier posts, too. Cheers.

If someone orders the Euro Brembo pads, please post a picture of them. I'm eager to see how they look compared to the standard Brembo pads.

Here are pictures of the front and rear "Euro" semi-metallic Brembo brake pads you can get from Genesis. I didn't take pictures of the stock pads, but the Euro pads definitely have a rougher feel to them, being that they are semi-metallic. They are a nice upgrade, with the only downfall being they do dust significantly more, FYI.

Front part # 58101-J5A55, rear part # 58302-J5A55

I paid $440 shipped for front and rear pads, from Conicelli Hyundai out of Conshohocken PA. I live in Ohio for reference.

^ dang, even US prices are crazy for these pads. and +1 on the dusting! but it is worth it to avoid the headaches of uneven pad deposits. these Euro pads scrub them rotors clean!

Well whatever it is, the rotors/pads sucked and with the new pads and rotors the car is actually driveable and I don't feel like i'm in a hoopty.
yeah, I gotta get that done, my rotors are too deposited, and my pads are a glazed mess. I do a lot of engine braking with paddle shifters.

I believe you can get semi-metallic from a number of makers, if it's the semi-metallic nature of the pads doing the scraping, then I see no need to spend 440 for pads, these other semi-metallic options are like 60 -100 per axle.

^ yeah, rockauto list these "Dynamic Friction" hybrid metallic pads:

someone said they may not be a direct alternate to the OE euro pads. not sure. more digging would be needed.

the spider chart in the link above certainly seems to align with the performance benefits of the euro semi metallic. better than the regular ceramic pad at fade, friction, etc (i.e. the 'performance side of semi metallic), but the semi metallic create more dust and reduced rotor & pad life, which makes sense. also, this is why we don't have the same uneven pad deposit issue of the ceramic folks. gotta take the good with the bad.

If you think the only difference that makes the "Euro" brake pads better for hard use is the fact that they're semi metallic, and therefore makes the brake pads you listed comparable to them because of that, we need to have a more in depth discussion about brake pads.

With that said, the "Euro" brake pads are expensive, I'll admit that. There may be very similar performing brake pads at slightly less expensive price point, but I specifically wanted these pads for numerous reasons.

Thanks for the inputs. My dealer is asking 800 for both the front and rear pads. I called CONICELLI and they asked me to use their website. The toal is coming to 430. Insane how dealerships differ in pricing :/

I am not. I am saying that for most drivers, these cheaper alternatives are a great deal. If they fit.

The stock rotors in the G70 are pretty good. I solved my brake judder by having my local parts store machine the rotors, and then installed brand new Hawk HP+ pads. No brake pedal judder/vibrations despite alternating between aggressive use, and gentle daily driving.

The weakness is certainly the OEM pads, while the rotors are adequate. The HP+ pads were a definite upgrade in every single way, minus the noise (which actually isn't bad at all, IMO).
Todd, where did you purchase those pads? Thanks.

All beware.

I purchased Hawk HPS 5.0 pads from KNS Brakes and although they "fit" they are extremely noisy and float around inside the caliper. So much so that the front inners were rubbing and creating vibrations at highway speeds. KNS and Hawk both informed me that the FMSI shape is close but not exact and this is one of the only Brembo applications with our weird retaining spring. Moreover no manufacturer is making our shape with the weights like the stock pads have. DBA out of Australia "could be" be making some soon I was told. Might make a post about it later as the KNS rep was super helpful and informative.

TLDR; don't waste your time with Hawks, just get the "Euro" stock pads if you plan to daily drive the car. I will say, once the Hawks heat up with some spirited driving they do feel amazing.

Thanks for the feedback on the HPS 5.0 pads. I bought them a while back but have not installed them yet. May have to sell them if that's the case. Anyone have experience with ceramic pads on their G70 with Brembo brakes?

i have noticed that - maybe for drivers who want to spend quite a bit less - TireRack has Centric posiQuiet ceramics for the font Brembos, so they say, and Autozone has 'carquest wearever' ceramics, two versions, for the front Brembos. I am not endorsing, just noting.

^ i think the factory non-sport pad (i.e. non-euro) compound is ceramic.
