  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Anyhoo...they did say pricing for the model range will be between $34k USD and $50k USD...approx. Hmmm...I will be in utter shock if it comes under my range topping guess at $54.6k USD.
A G80 3.3T Sport is $55.2k, which is basically fully loaded. If the G70 comes that close in price I think it will have problems selling. For many the larger and more cushy G80 would look like a better deal. Also, it would basically be ~$10k more than a Stinger given current Stinger incentives, for those customers aware of the relationship between Kia and Genesis.

I've read that G80 sales are down quite a bit too, perhaps owing to a lack of lease incentives. The currently advertised $5k down/$620 per month lease for a 3.3T Sport isn't very attractive, especially that huge up-front payment.

I would say this page means something, but turns out if you change the variables at the end you can create a build page for whatever kind of Genesis you want.

For example:

Edit: can anyone tell me why pasting the Genesis USA site link makes the link translate to Korean on this forum?!??

Incorrect. G80 Sport AWD loaded is $58,745 USD + taxes, etc.

10.5 cubic foot trunk space? I hope that's a typo, because that's really small.

I really hope that's not true. I had a Ford Focus with a bigger trunk than that. I have yet to see a single picture of the trunk anywhere which is disappointing.

Got to 3:20 of the following video. Truck is normal size...it's fine. Looks roughly the same as my 2013 A4 truck.

~$50k for a G70 Sport with HTRAC......wow.

Your A4 has ~2 cu ft more space. If this spec holds true it would be just a tick above the smallest in the class (the ATS is 10.4). The 3 series, C class, Q50 et al are all 2-3 cu ft larger.

But the layout of the trunk can also make a difference. Load opening, overall shape (i.e. is it "usable" for normal size objects), etc.

How much do we think Kia would charge for that GT2 automatic lift gate? If this car does come in around the ~52k mark (lower is obviously better), I would think the Stinger would really struggle because the only real benefit over the G70 is the lift gate. Now, if they value that lift gate around 3-5k, I can see them both being priced around the same, but that seems a little excessive to me.

The G70 will not be cheaper than the Stinger, even without the power closing hatch.

I don't think so either, but if the above comment happens to be correct, there needs to be a reason. I'm expecting it in the ~54k range, but will be pleasantly surprised if it's lower.

I believe Randian was referring to a 2018 G80 Sport RWD.

My understanding is that the Stinger is more Grand Touring vs the G70 meaning it has a slightly softer suspension and likely better for every day driving. At least that's what reviews would have be believe.

The other thing is at least my my local Kia dealer the sticker/MSRP might be $52K but they had them all significantly discounted. I could have walked out with one at 45K with zero haggling; that was just the price they had written on the window. I wouldn't be surprised that the G70 is similar in price and maybe slightly higher but the price has less wiggle room.

That's actually a really good price. I was very, very close to pulling the trigger on a GT2 but I was planning on leasing and spending almost $700 a month on it seemed insane ($685 a month). The best price I was able to get (prior to the 2k financing discount) was around 48k, so I was looking at about 46k out the door after the rebate (although I would have picked the 0.9% financing either way and forfeited the 2k). I think that car is an amazing buy at 45k, but it's an absolutely atrocious lease. Until that car leases in the mid to high 5's on sign and drive deals, we won't see that many on the road.

While it's still an option I live in a city so having a smaller car makes my life much easier for parking and getting around so as long as the G70 seats are comfortable and the suspension isn't too stiff I'd prefer it over the Stinger.

I'm surprised by how much interior cabin height you lose by going with the sunroof. Honestly I want a sunroof for this car, but, I am beginning to rethink that, especially if it comes down to me bumping my head on the headliner.

Also, the lower head room means that the front seats will likely need to be set lower, which means that the rear seat passengers lose a place to put their toes.

$685/month? That’s a crazy high interest rate (or the residual is terrible). I agree, $550/month, little or nothing down is more reasonable. 2019s are up soon, which will probably have even worse leases. I could be pleasantly surprised though.

The same could be said of the G70, since G80 leases don’t look so great to me right now and I doubt Genesis is going to discount their new halo car much if at all.
