  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I don't really like the new XL, at least not yet, lol
My wife wants the red one if possible, with "all buttons", that means it has to be Ultimate, LWB or Sport. I did my research and I have found a few in my area. Once I'm back from the trip later today, we'll go tomorrow to get her something.

The XL cames with 2.4L engine or was it 2.0? that's too slow for her :D

Do you mean the "new" XL that is the old 3-row Santa Fe?

If the report is accurate, the (real) new XL is a LWB variant of the new SF; would not be surprised if it gets the new turbo 2.5L.

I think I got confused a little. I meant new sport with 2.0T engine, which she didn't like it anyway. I didn't like it either, so we purchased '18 LWB again.

I remember a time, several weeks ago, when I thought that we'd surely get some concrete information about pricing and availability by the time this thread hit page 50. We're now on page 52 and things seem at least as vague as ever.

The whole dealership issue seems to be the limiting factor for a firm release date. But what about pricing? List price is set by the manufacturer, is it not? Shouldn't that have been decided already? Shouldn't that be essentially independent of the the whole dealer network issue?

Maybe they want to spill all of their beans at once but frankly, I think Genesis would do well to provide some information that might keep potential buyers from drifting off. Confirmation of an aggressive pricing structure could do just that. Right now, we have vague speculation regarding how competitive G70 pricing will be relative to the alternatives -- more an implied promise than a reality. For an increasing number of those alternatives, aggressive end-of-year pricing is on offer and you can actually get specific numbers. Little wonder that, for some (perhaps many) buyers, that bird-in-hand will trump the bird-in-bush of tentative price ranges being bandied about in Genesis promotional materials (not to mention delivery dates). Providing actual prices for the various models with details of their features and equipment well might inspire some folks who are ready to walk away to hang around for the eventual G70 release, even if the timing for it is uncertain. And, if nothing else, it would garner a whole lot of press attention. Even on this board, interest seems to be flagging as we face week after week with little or no new information. Some firm pricing details could go a long way to stoking interest (assuming it's consistent with the rumors of competitive pricing) and well might make waiting a little more bearable for potential buyers who are starting to look elsewhere.

I agree with your assertions @devellis , but when you said "Maybe they want to spill all of their beans at once", I think you hit the nail on the head! Presently, very few (mostly people on this board) are aware of any possible schedule slippage. If they disseminate the rest of the info (pricing, build guide, trim details, etc.) without a release date, the car press will go wild with comment/speculation and it will be even more public that Genesis has had a poor launch for this car. If they hold their cards close, they can make a bigger splash when they're ready to release the car with ads and press.

Don't get me wrong, I'd sure love to see that info too and all the points you made are valid (stemming off the impending purchase of other cars). But if you're the head of Genesis, you want to make a BIG splash at the RIGHT time to get the most sales and the least "bad impression / broken promises" to the public.

I think that by the start of the NFL season we will have some more solid information. Remeber, Genesis is supposedly the "luxury car brand of the NFL" so I would think that they would start advertising it right at the start of the season...

To the best of my knowledge, the vehicles arrive in port with the manufacturer's window sticker already affixed. This provides the details relative to that specific vehicle.
The Monroney sticker is required to be affixed to the side window or windshield of every new car sold in the United States and can only be removed by the consumer (Chapter 28, Sections 1231-1233, Title 15 of the United States Code). A fine of up to US$1,000 per vehicle for each offense is authorized if the sticker is missing, and other fees and penalties are authorized if the sticker is altered illegally (including imprisonment).[4] The act does not apply to vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 8,500 lb (3,856 kg). The sticker must include the following information:

Excellent point, Tonester. I hadn't considered that.

So what I hear you saying is that we need to figure out which port these cars are being held at, then have one of us sneak in and take a picture of the sticker containing the MSRP and then share it with the forum.

I like it.

Interesting idea, but when is the sticker actually put on the window? Won't that be done after final destination is determined?

Gotcha!

A bit odd considering the that Sorento has the V6, but the new 2.5L should improve things.

Out of curiosity - what's your impression of the new sheetmetal and interior quality/design compared to the older model?

I think you are right @EdP . The Monroney stickers I've seen have the address of the dealership where the car is destined to be sold. So, it makes sense that stickers are not on cars yet even if they're at port. Besides, why would they shoot themselves in the foot by putting on a sticker with retail price and then the price changes for some reason. Common sense prevails this time! :)
