  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

PD705 -

By physical presence - do you mean the Genesis boutiques located at malls?

And what would the stand-alone Genesis showroom/service facility entail?

Those boutiques w/ a separate service facility (would each distributor have its own service facility and where would they be located)?

1) By "physical presence", I mean there are currently 3 mall showrooms (Edmonton @ Premium Outlets, Mississauga @ Square One, Laval @ Carrefour Laval) in addition to 2 locations in more traditional auto retail settings (Downtown in Toronto on Queen St E, and Québec).

2) By stand-alone I mean full-size traditional "dealer", with a building on its own featuring a showroom and service drive-through, the latter of which being critical for Canada. The Genesis distributors in Canada will be allowed to share the garage with their Hyundai store, but nothing else - all customer facing elements must be completely separate.

Buildings can be co-located on the same property or even attached, but the showrooms cannot be accessible from one another. Because they're allowed to use the Hyundai garage (all Hyundai dealers nationwide currently undergoing major upgrades and expansion, so timing is perfect), it opens up lots of creative options for the Genesis showroom - i.e. it can be on a property nearby, doesn't necessarily need to be in the same place.

I totally agree. I guess we have to wait and see though...who knows what pricing will be and what (if any) incentives become available.

Genesis USA is not starting off very well with their very first vehicle...which is supposed to put them on the map (so they say). I say that with reference to the other 2 cars being carry-overs from the H brand.

If you look at obscure articles about the dealer network you will see that Genesis has to franchise each dealer with each state's licensing board. Already Florida has rejected their application as they do not see Genesis as a separate car company, but just some high end cars from Hyundai. So, they think all Hyundai dealers should be able to sell Genesis cars. It is a mess. Same issues with Texas. The state licensing boards are created to protect the dealers from manufacturers that want to sell certain models through other than regular channels. Some dealers have even issued law suits against Genesis for what they call "unfair practices". That is why it is taking so long. I expect we will not see any 2019 Genesis cars: G70, G80, or G90 until this is settled - probably November or later!!! OR even next year sometime!!!

I think Genesis will draw the line soon. States like VA will start to sell...and the trouble States will be sorted out. They cannot lose money for too much longer.

It would be nice if they would start selling in the states that have approved the "new" car dealership.

Does anyone have any news on whether Maryland has approved them?

I posted before the long weekend about contacting senior Genesis staff, etc. I did not end up buying anything this weekend...no killer deals that crossed my path.

So I continue to wait...but barely.

Also...I actually got a call from a fellow named Walter Dawson. He is the Senior Manager for Regional Genesis Operations (Southern region which includes VA). Believe it or not...he got my info from a message that I left for Erwin Raphael.

Anyhoo...I was not around...so I will be contacting Mr. Dawson today. Hopefully he spills the beans and I will have more info...at least for my area, etc.

I know I'm the doom and gloom type, but do you guys really think contacting these high-up Genesis folks is going to do anything, or they're going to tell you anything? I don't mean any disrespect. They will release info when they're ready, and it's extremely unlikely to be told anything before an official press release. They likely wouldn't even want to tell you the date they will release any information because it's all subject to change. They're also likely waiting on regulatory information regarding tariffs.

The kicker for me is even if you WERE told something, it's not going to get you the car any faster. I understand if your motive is pricing vs the competition, but I feel like if you're willing to buy something else, maybe just go do that?

Everyone just needs to chill, and maybe work on a new hobby or something in the meantime. Work on that honey-do list.

It definitely doesn't do any harm...right? If you don't care for the info...move on. Others want to hear any little bit of news they can get. That is why the F5 key on their keyboards has a divot.

As for me personally...anything helps. If they honestly say car will now be out in Q1...I'm out. But if things are close, etc, etc...I am willing to hang by a thin thread.

Still almost 3 weeks of summer left - anything's possible ...

Damn, beat me to it.:)

But wasn't this the same group that said the launch would be in summer? Sorry, couldn't resist a little sarcasm. :)

Last I looked, summer end September 21. So what is your point?

Hey, that’s at least a much more narrowed window! And it’s at least coming from Genesis’s mouth and not through dealerships that we may or may not be able to trust,

And we have been able to trust Genesis? Also questionable.

Yeah but usually once they start announcing specific months they’re less likely to delay much longer, otherwise they would stick to their more general windows like “summer” or “2nd half of 2018” or “21st century”.

I am NOT saying that they are going to make their deadline but what makes you question what they have already officially announced? Giver us the official quote from Genesis corporate that they failed to meet.

All the press that attended the Maine event in July were communicated an August release of the G70. That's one deadline they didn't meet. Even if it wasn't "officially" announced, that was a date they consistently went public with.

Press said that...not from the mouth of Genesis. Press also said top price would be $50k...which is BS.
