  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Well...end of summer is Saturday. You gotta give them 4 days...c’mon

I think we’re getting very close.
So after waiting months you can't wait three more days? Here is a hint from Car and Driver
2019 New Cars: The Ultimate Buyer's Guide
Good luck with whatever you buy today.

I was explicit when I told him that I've been in contact with a dealer for over 4 months and needed concrete information and he still couldn't do it. Genesis screwed this up big time and they're not even trying to be transparent about the release.

Also, I'm trading in a car that's less than two years old. I know I'm losing money trading it it so early, but my trade-in value estimate has already gone down over $1000 already since the spring. Who knows how much farther it'll go down by the time we can realistically purchase the car.

While many of us are very frustrated, I'm sure many @ Hyundai/Genesis corporate are crazy frustrated themselves. We'll all be relieved once the wheels start really turning!

Yeah...they must be really frustrated...especially the corporate cocksuckers that are currently driving G70's (other NJ post).

I just emailed Kevin Smith myself. Told him my A4 is out of warranty...and I had to dish out a crap load of cash for 4 tires since inspection failed. Both due to the fact that I have no G70.

See if he replies.

Well boy am I impressed. Bar is low. Mr. Smith replied right away with this...

Just boarded a plane so I’ll have to be brief.

G70 pricing will be announced tomorrow or Thursday, Google it for the news coverage.

We now have new Genesis retailers in Georgia and Nevada and many other states, like VA, will follow in the weeks ahead. Only these new Genesis retailers will be able to sell model year 2019 Genesis vehicles like the G70.

Can’t say exactly when we’ll have G retailers in VA, soon, but GA is not far away.

Bring it on !!! :cool::cool:

Only "Genesis" dealers can sell G70, (and 2019 Genesis cars?) Interesting. And you thought YOU were upset? A set of tires? How about the dealers with millions invested?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

This has been known for a long time though. They're supposed to offer money to the ones who decide not to become dealers if I remember correctly.

It would have been smart of them to hire a few guys from this forum.

Or research the laws in the countries they plan on selling in. Or talk to their legal staff. Or talk to the guys who were involved when Hyundai first began selling in the US. The laws weren't initiated in the past year. they've been around for a while now. The dealership issue would have been obvious if they'd started talking to dealers earlier on. They assumed that their initial plan to close out essentially all Hyundai dealers from Genesis sales would go down fine with everyone. That assumption was false. If they'd come to that realization much earlier in the introduction process, they could have avoded the delays that arose. This isn't the sort of thing that is obvious only in hindsight. It should have been obvious from the get-go and would have been had due diligence taken place. Same with the brand and franchise licensing laws. Car dealerships have powerful lobbies and extensive resources. Trade groups have staffers who keep track of the things that impact their industry. Hyundai could have availed themselves of those resources. Either they failed to or they didn't heed the implications of the information they received.

This all may end well for those who can and choose to stay around long enough to see the actual cars show up on lots. But the process has been a mess. I hope the G70 and the Genesis brand succeed. But forgive me for having some concerns based on their performance in delivering the G70 to market in the US.

Best news we've had in a long time!

I wonder when dealers around here will get them? I'd like to work with the dealer I've been in contact with, assuming there aren't further absurd delays.

I can sympathize with your pain over the loss of trade-in value. I think that's true for virtually all of us who've been contemplating trading a car for the past several months. I'll pay cash if and when I get something new and so the depreciation of what I trade is a lump sum right out of my pocket. Also, the best of the "driving season" is rapidly vanishing. Fall here is still pretty nice usually but it's also the stormiest time of year (as we've all been reminded) and so not a good time to plan extensive road trips that can't be aborted at the last minute. Had the car come out in May, as was planned at an earlier stage of things, it would have been the perfect time to take a newly broken-in car for a nice road trip. Ah, well. It is what it is.

The problems and solutions have been bandied about on this forum and other places for months. It is obvious that mistakes were made. What we do not know is what really took place, what discussions really happened and what roadblocks the lawyers really ran into. We don't know when they talked to dealers or the results from those meetings.

All of us have commented, but everything we say is based purely on supposition. Could any of us done better? Who knows. We have no facts. To make a good conclusion you need facts.

So...anyone watch NFL last night? Any G70 commercials?

Also...really wonder if anything will be release this week...even pricing. According to the guy I talked to...the end of this week would fall in his "about 2 week" range. Also...if they did release on Friday...they would officially stand by their summer release date (ending Sat). Nobody could harp on them. Yeah you cannot get the car yet...but releasing the pricing and the online configurator could be noted as a release.

They miss Friday with anything substantial...everyone will be all over them for missing a massive deadline.

Just a thought.
Same thing as last week. The "Genesis Halftime Show" is actually "commercial free".

Shucks, and I was betting that this thread would reach 100 pages before then

Guess it will still be some time before New York gets them.

I agree, there are a lot of assumptions being made based on pure conjecture. Exactly what date is “from the get-go” and exactly when is “earlier on”. Folks are making assumptions that are just as bad as those they are chastising Genesis for making.

In the Pittsburgh area four listed Genesis dealers said they won't be selling the Genesis brand. One said only one dealer will be in the Pittsburgh area and one said they are still waiting for Genesis to make a decision.

Because it doesn’t look like we’ll have all 50 states on board all at once I’m confident this thread will make it.

Well, I spent two years on the Tesla board before receiving my wife's Model 3. The time spent allowed me to see ALL the warts, both big and small. This time I only have 5 months before BMW lease expires, and yes, I will have to replace 4 tires.

Most Hyundai dealers only invested in training of certain staff.

The ones that sold the Equus/G90 (about 350 of them) spend maybe $80-100k on top of that for a separated showroom (and a few also doing a Genesis exclusive customer lounge).

Hyundai has offered compensation packages in excess of $4 million (most of it for lost future sales) for the high volume dealerships and many have turned it down, wanting to go ahead w/ Genesis.

Thanks, now maybe we can all stop crying for the poor dealers that will no longer be able to give you poor service and sales misinformation.
