  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Thanks for the info joschneider. [I've been lurking for a few months now, but this is my first post!] For my needs, the rear seat legroom is just about the only negative on the G70. My wife and I have a minivan for a 3rd car for when we go on trips, and really need to haul the whole family around. But, I do use my daily driver sedan for short trips to bring the kids home from school/camp/etc.

When you wrote "no one over 6 foot," are you setting the driver's seat for someone at 6 foot? And your statement would imply that someone around 6-foot could have a kid around 5-5 sit behind them?
I am 6'1". I had the driver's seat where I wanted it. I sat behind it and it was tight. I then moved the drivers seat up about 2". I was still very comfortable. I went in the back again...and it was fine. Toe room was not comfortable.

I then put the seat back to where I really liked it. My wife sat behind it...she is 5'8". She was perfectly comfortable. My daughter is 5'1" and had all the room in the world.

Hope that helps some.

That helps immensely. I am also 6'-1" and my wife is 5'-3" and my tallest daughter is 5'-4". My girls still have some growing to do, but I doubt they will get to a point where a short hop in the G70 will be a problem. Thanks!

I can chime in on the back seats. YES, real humans can fit. I'm 5'5 and the sales guy sat behind me (5'8) and had plenty of room. My husband is 6'4' and a normal human adult would not be able to sit behind him becuase he scoots the seat as far back as it will go. So it depends on how far back a person sits in the front becuase that diminishes the space in the back. If you are a family of shorties, then there's no problem. The seats in the back are quite comfy IMHO. But definitely not meant for a family of over 6' tall people. I'd think kids would be ok depending on how big they are.

Thanks alabaaster - that also helps a lot.

Beefer and alabaaster, I noticed you are boith in my neck of the woods... I am hoping to keep my 2007 Acura TL Type-S for another year, and then will probably pick up a 2020 G70 from Chantilly Genesis.

Yeah...I'm a couple of hours south :) My local dealers messed up and still cannot sell...so I will potentially be buying in your neck of the woods. Waiting another month or so to buy local.

One more thing on the rear seats. If I am sitting comfortably...I could fit 3 people at 5'2" or less in the back. Two people zero issues obviously.

Comfort back there is excellent as mentioned. The same level of detail carries from the front to the back. Gorgeous leather and all the trims. Heated back seats and vents. But there is no separate 3rd zone for the HVAC back there. Which is fine. I am talking the 3.3T Sport AWD model.

I think that's a great idea...I hope they add some LED accent lighting in the next model and perhaps upgrade their infotainment.

Gorgeous leather and all the trims.

I'm not sure if you meant to say "gorgeous leather IN all the trims"... Some of the trims do not have leather. I tested a 2.0 and it was Leatherette. Just want people to be aware. It will tell you on the Sticker whether it's Leatherette or real leather. I loathe and detest Pleather, so it's something I look out for. :p

No...I meant gorgeous leather...and the trim work (aluminum, etc) is equally as nice in the back as the front.

Okay here’s an idea I thought of literally 5 minutes ago. Do you guys think that Genesis should offer appearance parts like how BMW offers M Performance parts?? I think it would be great if they offered it because it would make each vehicle in its lineup distinctive from the other owners who own G70,G80, G90’s. I’d love to hear what you think and please provide feedback!!

Heard something today...not sure if it is true or not. I was speaking with a Genesis Specialist...and this guy really knew his stuff. Essentially...anything discussed on this board...he knew. We were throwing facts at each other, etc.

Anyhoo...I started to talk about how nobody knows about this car...and the fact that the main website is a mess. He said that Genesis is waiting for more dealerships to open up and have inventory before they configurator and other aspects of the website go live. I was stunned. I said that it could be MONTHS before that happens. He agreed. So folks...it could be a very long time before that configurator goes live.

Which is GREAT for us if you think about it. The longer nobody knows about these cars...and the longer they just sit...they will be anxious to move them. Not because of Genesis incentives...but purely on the fact that their money is being held up and profits will be down.

So...I am not pressing on that configurator. Let it be another 6 months !!! We basically know what trims there are. Just keep searching the 6 or 7 dealerships with their online inventory.

Another dealer approved in Virginia. Safford Genesis has received their license and now will be called Genesis of Springfield. The salesperson I have been emailing seems like a nice guy and he says they will be getting cars in soon. If you want to contact him, his information is below.

I really really hope Genesis doesn’t do this mess up again next year when the GV80 comes out. The vehicle will be of a huge importance to Genesis as the Market for SUV’s is booming!!

Hopefully by then the licensing/franchising situation has been settled. If not, probably could kiss Genesis USA goodbye and you won't have to worry about any cars. ;)

Let’s only pray and hope so!! I love sedans and all but lately Hyundai has been making really attractive SUV’s. Hope they do the same with the GV80’s.

I also have another question. If the sources are correct about the new 3.5 TT and it having 403 HP wouldn’t it be better to wait for that engine since it has more HP?? That would sound great in the G70 especially going up against the M340i’s 384HP.

I just noticed this point. So the back seats are heated AND cooled? That is f'in awesome! My kids will be happy about that!

I used to hate pleather too, mostly because when I was a kid in the 80's, my parents had some cars with the vinyl seats (horrible!) and I always associated fake leather with that. But I gotta say, my wife has the textured fabric in her 2017 Tesla Model S and it is great. It definitely feels different, but is very comfortable, doesn't grab your clothes like the old cloth seats, and should be ZERO maintenance. Not sure how Genesis' pleather is though.
