  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Sorry for the late reply. I visited Bob Stallings Genesis in Dallas today and sat in a Victoria Black sport 3.3T and then went to Genesis of Denton and viewed a Mallorca Blue advanced 3.3T. I had checkbook in hand for the one in Denton but they wouldn't sell it to me (my brother works for Hyundai America so I'd get a discount). I'm fairly disappointed right now, I didn't think dealers would tell corporate employees' family to bug off. There are a lot of these cars in DFW now, so that's good news.

Denton team could be a little cheesy. I bought My G80 there but the sales team was a bit shady from the start. Told me a guy was driving from OKC to pick up the car I wanted. When I showed up like 5 hours later to close the deal, I called BS on the OKC guy who mysteriously never made the trip. Cmon. That's bush league selling and has no place in a luxury car market.

Finally test drove a G70 last Friday at Bakersfield Hyundai (the only California dealer with inventory at the time) while on a road trip from Orange County to San Jose. Called them to schedule it and told them I barely had any time, and they had the car out and ready to go when I got there. Only got about a seven minute drive because that’s all I had time for, but good experience overall.

Now that Orange County dealerships have inventory, I scheduled a drive with Genesis of Irvine. I was excited to have a drive longer than seven minutes so I could get a better feel for the car. When I got there, I found out the salesman I’d been connected to actually worked at the sister Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealer next door, so I had to go over there to find him. Why they connected me to this person when I asked to drive a G70 is beyond me. Strike one. Then they couldn’t find the key to the car. Strike two. Finally, they pulled the car out and I got in and asked where we’d be going, and the salesman said “around the auto center.” I assumed he meant around the auto center to leave and get on the freeway or something. So we start driving, and after about two minutes we’re back at the dealer and he tells me to pull the car in. I said “We can’t go anywhere else??” And he goes “No, our insurance only covers test drives around the auto center.” Strike three. I was not a happy camper. I told him that they should be telling people that before wasting potential customers’ time. After leaving, I called the dealer and asked to speak to a general manager so I could give him feedback on this experience, and was connected to a random salesman, who told me their general manager was out until Sunday. So, I finally was connected with one of their sales managers, and I told him about my experience and how it isn’t going to help them sell cars. He actually seemed to appreciate the feedback, and explained that they’re trying to limit the test drive miles on the one 3.3 Sport they have in stock (different reason than the sales guy gave me, oddly). While I can understand that, they should be telling people that they’re only going to let them drive around the block *before* they drive all the way down to the dealership. Anyways, the sales manager was a nice guy, but damn. These people need to get their act together.

Just wanted to share my experience; hopefully future ones are better. I just want a real test drive at this point.

^ Thanks for the info, hopefully they get their act together fairly quickly. Sounds like even though they had plenty of time to plan how the Genesis models will be marketed/sold they didn't use it.

Maybe this has just been my experience, but every test drive I've had was no longer than ~3 miles tops from any brand. Have asked a few times to take a longer test drive once back at the dealership (especially after a BMW guy thought a 0.5 mile drive was good enough ) and that usually got me another swing around the block.

If it is a major dislike, you don't need a lot of time to figure it out. OTOH, you do want to be sure when making a big investment. I've had a couple of the 3 miles types, but a Hyundai salesman said "back so soon?". The Buick dealer that I already bought a car from gave me the keys and said "come back tomorrow and we'll talk."

When my wife and I went to look at the BMWs in December I was wondering how long a test drive I would be able to take and if we could do it without the CA. We had been there for awhile talking and looking at the X5 that they had in the delivery area and when we went over to look at the various leather samples the CA said he was going to get one warmed up for us. When we were done with the leather he asked for my license, made a copy and gave me the keys and said he assumed we want to go by ourselves but he will ride along if we wanted. I said we will be fine and we took it out for about a half hour.

We had a 15 mile loop at the BMW dealer I worked at. 0.5 miles is just lazy, if they aren't willing to spend the time with you ask if you can take it out yourself. As long as someone had a driver's license and insurance we would have them sign a borrowed car agreement and send them out. We didn't do that for M cars to just anyone but a std 3 or 5 series was no big deal. You just need to expect more and ask for it.

Excellent..
Brunswick right down the street from me..
I called them months ago and salesman said he had received many inquiries and had no knowledge of when they would receive cars...then he went on a rant about how bad this roll out has been..

Still no ca
In case it helps, two more Ohio dealers have been issued a dealer code - Brunswick and Dublin.

Still no G70s in Brunswick OH..
But “They’ll lemme know if they hear anything”..
LOL..
Never seen anything like this..

I usually takes 2-3 weeks after getting a code for inventory to show. Dublin posted their's on cargurus on Thursday so Brunswick should be soon I would think.

Hey TurtleBoy, fellow Coloradoan here! Any idea when we might finally get some G70s over here?

There is one dealer I know of that was issued their code in December and still no inventory. It just depends, they may just be waiting it out for the next MY, just preparing for when the SUVs come out, etc. I have also seen a case where a dealer was issued a code, waited about two months and then decided not to be a dealer and the code was revoked.

Edit: I should also add that I'm assuming that Ohio is following the process that is used in most states and that they are not like California. In most states the dealers have already received their genesis dealer license and then receive their dealer code. In California they receive their code before going to the state to get their license. It could be Ohio is the same way so that is why a longer delay between getting the dealer code and receiving inventory.

Nothing concrete. At one point there were going to be two dealers in the Denver area but heard one of them decided not to do it but one the Springs did. Everything is just speculation at this point. Given the population I would think there will be at least one dealer in the state but who knows, it could be like what I'm hearing from the rest of the states without dealers in that there will be no Genesis presence in the state.

Bummer, loved my 2015 Hyundai Genesis and would be very interested in getting the G70...

Just to followup on the edit to my post this morning: I was on the Ohio BMW site looking for something else and noticed that Vandalia does not appear to have a dealer license yet. It could be a naming issue but if they don't, that could mean that Ohio is a state where the dealer code is issued (Vandalia got theirs issued on Friday) prior to the state licensing the dealer. If so, that could be the reason for the delay in getting inventory.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Very disappointing result Mr. Ryan, as Irvine is local to me. Their act was not good enough for a "Luxury Brand" Guess I'll try Laguna Niguel and maybe HB when they get up and running Thanx for the info.
I test drove A 3.3t sport in Tuttle click Irvine, and they only let me go around the little auto mall circle which was less than a mile. Also, the salesperson was not knowledgable about the car.
