If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis 2015 or Infinity Q50?

I really think the only thing the '15 Genesis is missing is chrome. I associate luxury car with shiny chrome accessories. Maybe its my generation.

I’m thinking the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado wow that was a car.

This is where that extra weight of the new Genesis hurts. A V6 car with 100 HP less is as fast as the V8 Genesis. The almost 900 pounds of extra weight negates that HP advantage of the Genesis while also incurring a 25% gas mileage penalty to boot.

The extra weight and dimension is a definite trade off. Not to mention that the Genesis V8 is a more expensive car to boot. Do keep in mind that

- The Genesis can happily sip on regular grade fuel
- The Genesis is more spacious inside
- The Genesis also performs better in crash tests
- Panoramic roof, sound damping material, structural reinforcement, power trunk lid...etc. all adds to the luxurious feel of the car and weight.

Personally after my test drive, Q50 was off my list.

it depends if you want a tossable car with bmw price(q50)
or a luxury car with alot of room.(genny) for me interior room on the q50 was tight and there's hardly any room for rear passengers to put their feet. also theres no panoramic sunroof option or cooled seats apparently. and hyundai has a better warranty

Old thread I know but I couldn't resist.

The Q50 would annihilate the Genesis performance wise

Maybe handling, but not acceleration..

And personally I think the Q50 has a more clean, buttoned down appearance than the Genesis.
That's nice of you to share your opinion. The Q50 is a nice car, and I'm a former Nissan guy. That being said, I've lost a lot of respect for the VQ in the 20 years it's been around. It started off being the quintessential V6: smooth, refined, relatively powerful. As time has gone by, it's certainly gotten more powerful, but at the expense of NVH.

For a big luxury car the Genesis only comes with black carpet, and black lower door panels which scream CHEAP!!

That really does look beautiful on the inside. I don't want to see what cream colored carpet and floormats are going to look like after a couple of months of ownership however let alone a couple of years. Maybe it's feasible to drive barefoot all the time?

I am going to guess this is a show car interior and not on dealers lots. One thing Infiniti did do right was their dealer service network - my experiences with owning two G35's surpassed my many experiences with BMW on almost every front.

Maybe. On their site, there is a stone interior that has very light carpet. Maybe not as light as in this photo, however.

The point about the dealer service experience doesn't surprise me one bit.

I have driven several Infiniti over the years, Q45, J30, G35. I was pretty much dead set on the Q70 this year, but the Genesis won me over. Granted, the Q70 doesn't have the Q50 tech, but it has a lot of the refinement that the 50 is missing. To me, the Genesis was the best of both worlds. Top notch tech, great refinement and performance and handling close to the Q70 experience. In trade, I lose the Inifiniti dealership experience, and the more aggressive Q70 styling (I really like the way the 2015 looks), but I saved a lot of money over the similarly equipped Q70 too. Even if the prices had been the same, the Genesis would have won out.

the Q50 is on its 3 or 4th gen so nissan has learned somethings.. hyundai has only been playing is this field for what 5- 6 yrs

the Q50 is the 3 series competitor, the Q70 is the 5 series competitor.

I really like the Q50 but these two vehicles play in different sandboxes, a Q70 optioned to what I have would cost over 60k

Drive both and let us know!

Individual preference-- but in my opinion with the Infiniti you are paying for the (declining in stature) name. Its a good handling car but its relatively small and certainly not as comfortable. By the way when your beige carpeting ( the same color as I saw in a Corolla) get soiled my black carpeting will not look so cheap compared to yours

Hey guys.

So I will be trading my '12 gen maybe at the end of this year. I was looking at the IS 350 sport...and it's a nice car but too small for my taste ( got spoiled by the spacious Genesis ;) ) I do love all the features of the new Gen but the only thing holding me back is the redesigned car. The grill just bothers me :( . Anyways the second closest in mind is the Infinity Q50s. I love the design and interior looks nice. The only thing holding me back on that car is the cooling seats missing feature. I need it for sure, gets quite hot in California and my black car doesn't make it any better :p

Anyways what do you guys think? Anyone has any experience with Infinity cars? Or anyone who went from older genesis models to the new one?

Thanks in advanced :)

I had a 2010 and a 2013 G37xs. Very quick and agile. Had a 2 year lease on 2013 so I could get the 2014 Q50 after the big change. The Q50 had major problems with the electronics and recalls. Most of the auto mags didn't like it and said the "g' was better. I didn't like the packaging. I had to get the drive by wire steering if I wanted the parking sensors and other options. The steering system was congratulated as a step into the future but, initially, it was severely criticized. On the other hand the new 2015 Genesis had rave reviews and as I'm getting on in years I thought it may be time to give up some sport in exchange for some more luxury. I was pleasantly surprised with the handling and acceleration of the Gen. Although not as quick or tossable as the G it was handling curvy roads at 80 today on my way back from upstate NY to L.I. wth no drama and extremely comfortable, luxurious feeling and quiet. Although I miss some of the features of the G the Q didn't seem to measure up and part of the blame went to the run flats. Bottom line I am very pleased thus far with The Genny 3.8 Signature AWD.

Very similar situation for me. Came from 2009 G37X and 2012 G37X. HATED the steering in the Q50 with the upper level packages. 2 touch screens were a fingerpring mess and I love tech. Missed the seat memory etc. on the lower packages. Ended up with a 2015 3.8 w/Tech. Technology to me is great although I was convinced I would hate the "nanny" features my stress level went down to almost 0. Before I had the smart cruise I was so frustrated with the stop/go. Now the car just does it. It's not perfect...but it's really good. Add in the 47K Genesis lease was almost 20% less than the $44K Q50 and 3 months in now I really think the Genesis is the best car I have owned. So much more comfortable than the G37.
