Genesis Car Dealerships (Freestanding)

I drove past a large Hyundai/Genesis dealer yesterday and noticed the former used car building was replaced with a contemporary building in black and with GENESIS across the top. Also a GENESIS sign in vertical format in front. I pulled in to have a better look. Dealers are closed here on Sundays. The main original building has the service roll up door labeled GENESIS service. There were used Hyundai vehicles mixed with many Genesis on the pavement all around the business. I saw no new Hyundai cars and a check of the internet provided no new information about where the Hyundai dealer was/would be. The interior of the Genesis building is nearly complete. It is days, or at most a week or two from completion.
Keffer is the dealer name, one of several Hyundai dealers in the area and the largest Genesis dealer. Service person there told me a few years ago that this change was planned and it required some approval/negotiation with municipal and state authorities for setback, right of way, access and/or other issues to be resolved which they apparently are. Infiniti is across the street, for comparison.

edit: when it was a combined store the lot size was clearly insufficient to handle all the inventory and traffic for even just the Hyundai, not to mention the used cars and Genesis. This is long overdue for the brand and also the Hyundai dealer, assuming he has/will soon move to a larger, more accessible location.

Anyone here from the Ft Myers Fl area? They were building a freestanding Genesis dealership in Ft. Myers and it got rocked by the hurricane two falls ago. I wonder if they are still working on that, as I know there might have been a buyout of the dealer in the meantime.
Last month I asked a salesman at the Naples Fl dealer (Combo dealership) if they had plans to build a separate Genesis dealership and he said they had purchased some land about 2 miles away but he was vague about the plans. Naples, back when I got mine, claimed to be the highest volume Genesis dealership.

Read somewhere they were part of the Morgan group ?? I could be wrong.

That Naples dealer does seem to move a lot of cars, I was watching their inventory back in Dec. when I was looking. They seem to trade inventory with Lakeland quite a bit. Unfortunately, they drive the cars back & forth, so you end up getting a new car with 100+ miles on the odo. You can bet they were going 75 - 80 mph down I-75 (typical flow of traffic) and not adhering to the break-in schedule !

In this case, and related to the conversation from some time ago that I mention above, this Genesis building has access on the side street and not the main highway photo in the street view above. Perhaps this was the access negotiation as I was told.

Interesting - i didn't see that before. Took a closer look from sat view - which of course is dated. But it looks like there may be access between them both via the south side of the Genny lot. This would give access from the highway - but you'd have to drive past a couple rows of Hyundai's to get there.

When I got mine, it had 220 miles on it, but it was one that had been on the lot for a while for some unknown reason. The 22's were out already so they gave me an offer I could not refuse to take the 21.
I did not know new cars still had break in scheduled like they did back in the day. I probably did 75 to 80 on the way home. Oh well.
 
FYI… Genesis of Southwest Houston (Sterling McCall Genesis) moved into their new freestanding facility last week…

I plan to stop by their new facility this week and take a look…

You might be able to add Genesis of Monroeville, PA. Used to be Genesis and Hyundai of Pleasant Hill, PA.

It's strange. When you search for the Genesis dealers in Pittsburgh, the Pleasant Hills dealer shows up. It's not there anymore. It just moved to it's own new building in Monroeville. I guess either Google or Genesis is a little slow updating their websites because you have to do a separate search for the new dealership.
 
Genesis of West Houston just opened their mammoth doors on 4-1-24. This Hyundai/Genesis dealership dwarfs any other in Houston. If nothing else, drop by and look up Daniel the Service Director or Matt, the GM. I call this automotive behemoth, "Fort Keating" after the owner, Ben Keating. MOST impressive!

Interesting - this is the first dealership I have seen to use a multiple-level garage instead of a parking lot. Makes sense, I guess... other than the likely unflattering lighting :)

Genesis of Las Vegas is almost done. According to the manager, it will be up and running in 2 or 3 months.

They are already totally separate from the Hyundai Dealership which is next door to them. They are currently operating out of a temp building in the parking lot of the new building.

They have Genesis dedicated sales persons, financial office, a manager and a service adviser all working out of the portable. So, no need to even venture into the Hyundai Dealership. Yes, the servicing is still being done by the Hyundai service department until the new Genesis building is completed.

But definitely an improvement from the past when I had to go in to the Hyundai dealership to have anything done.

As a side note, I just realized my old Genny is in the pics. The 2nd has the old and the new side by side.

Also in San Diego there is Genesis of Kearny Mesa. I believe it is a stand alone dealership. The Hyundai dealership is down the road from it.
