  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Car Dealerships (Freestanding)

I would want it in writing acknowledging where you are from. I would send an email to the general manager asking if you would qualify for and receive service valet treatment if you purchased a car there. Here is key language from the terms and conditions:

"11. Disclaimer of Warranties. Genesis Retailer does not warrant that Service(s) will always be available. Service(s) are subject to availability and Genesis Retailer assumes no liability should all Drivers be booked at the precise time when Service(s) is requested. Genesis Retailer shall not be liable for delays or failure to provide Service(s) as a result of inclement weather, traffic conditions, construction, or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Genesis Retailer."

As to ctsooner's post: the concern is not the initial purchase, it is for ongoing service. I would agree that an hour's drive to make a car purchase is not material. But service over the life of the car is.

BTW, Connecticut is a wealthy state. I am amazed at the shortage of Genesis dealers there.
Great stuff guys. Yes, I'll defiantly do that if we go the G route. I know that a few of the other lux dealers locally will do the valet service as long as I give them a week notice (or so). I have friends who do this with the Range Rover folks and the Lincoln folks. It wouldn't matter, even with the difficult for me to navigate dealer showroom and service areas, if they didn't park in the handicap spaces. I've nearly called the state on them a few times as it's just wrong and illegal in CT.

My concern is whether the distance will cause the company to not provide valet service. A one hour's drive means taking a service person out of the shop for a couple of hours delivering the loaner and picking up the Genesis. And then the same thing when the service is done. My dealer offered me valet service but I am only 5-10 minutes away from the dealership. The distance is why I would want it in writing. It is too easy for a sales person to orally tell you yes; even though dealerships are not known for dissembling 😁.

Yeah, 20-40 minutes compared to 4 hours is huge when it's not value added time.

Anyone know if CT will ever get a stand alone? It's the biggest reason my wife and I have stayed away for our last two cars. Every time I go to the Meriden dealer, they have their employees parking in their handicap spots (no placard). I have complained countless times, and of course, I'm sure they make fun of me right after I leave. Being that I do state and national advocacy for the National MS Society, I just can't support a dealership that makes it even more difficult for me to navigate their dealership. It's NOT handicap friendly at all. Thanks all.

Genesis of Milford has a new standalone building completed. They're in the process of moving into the new building and say they're a couple weeks away from a grand opening. The building is in the new Genesis style.

Great news and thanks. I have spoken to them in the past and they were wonderful. I'll head down there as there is a great hot dog place not too far way in Fairfield. Road trip..... :).

How does your restaurant compare with Jimmy's in West Haven (Savin Rock)? That was my go to place for hot dogs in my ute (as my cousin Vinny would say). Also great lobster rolls and French fries (my brother and I always figured the ff tasted so good because they never changed the oil 😁 .

We eat at Jimmy's a few times a year. Love taking the convertible down there with the Yorkies. They love the walking path. I have a ton of favorites for dogs. Capitol Lunch in New Britian has the BEST meat sauce I've had on a dog, except for the long gone Sal's Snack bar in Newington. It was my first job and Sal just had the best meat sauce. He never let me make it either, but I noticed the cinnamon, nutmeg and mustard he used. Just amazing stuff with a legit kick to it. I'm probably going to head down there when they open (Milford). I'm pretty excited about that.

I spent many a drunken night at this place in Bridgeport after the bars closed, when I was a teen. Everybody knew it as the "Greeks". Too bad they knocked it down years ago and turned it into a fast food restaurant. It was never the same. It did not have the laughing lady, but they burgers and dogs were good. Where I live now, you can't get brown mustard, they only serve yellow mustard where they sell hotdogs.. Uck.

We still have some great mom and pop's up here. I most always go to family owned places where I can get authentic food from various regions around the world. I've been cooking since I was 5 (made a pizza from a cookbook for kids that was disgusting). Nearly went to CIA out of HS, but dad said I had to do a 4 year degree. I'm 100% New Haven style pizza too. I've been fortunate to live all over the country and world with school and the Navy. Been blessed to get to have some amazing cuisines. I know this is a car thread, but we also own a BMW drop top (wife's car) that I just installed a new radio with a 9" screen. We took it out yesterday to get some DQ to eat in the car. That's usually the one we take to Jimmy's ;). See, I can bring it back to a car thread. You guys are fun.

Just spoke with a salesman at Genesis of Las Vegas. He stated that they are currently moving into the new facility. The gentleman said it officially opens Monday morning.

Genesis of Milford, CT. has opened their new standalone dealership. Beautiful new building with full service facilities.

it really is. I was there by chance on their first day last week. Love the building, but everyone I met was just nice and it wasn't an act. Their product specialist actually knew about the car, unlike any other BMW, Audi, MB or Range Rover dealers I've been to.

I think my wife will be getting the GV80 2025 when her lease is up. Where in CT are you?

As a side note, has anyone either used or checked out Genesis of Kearny Mesa in San Diego?

From what I can tell, it is a stand alone (sales and service) Genesis dealership. Address is 4797 Convoy St.

Anyone?

I know it's not a stand alone dealership but, I thought this might be interesting in regards to dual dealerships.

I normally take my car to the Genesis of Escondido (CA). Well, I called today to see about a service appointment and lo and behold, they are no longer either selling or servicing Genesis vehicles. The person on the phone said that Genesis had pulled their license (or whatever you get to sell the vehicles). They had to close the Genesis side and return all except a few used vehicles to Genesis.

Additionally, she said that they are no longer authorized to do any warranty work or order any parts from Genesis. They can only service them if it is on your dime. Not sure how this would work if they can't order parts.

Isn't this along the same lines that led to a lawsuit when Genesis initially tried to make all dealers open stand alone Genesis dealerships? Just curious.

On the bright side, I have a couple of places I can go. Genesis of Corona (horrible reviews of the service dept) 40 or so miles away or Genesis of Palm Springs (new stand alone so no real reviews) about 70 miles away..

Genesis Of Loma Linda is currently splitting off from Hyundai Inland Empire and will move to Ontario CA becoming Genesis Of Ontario.

I bought my G70 from Genesis/Hyundai Of Carlsbad CA, which also STOP selling and servicing Genesis.

here in CT, I was told that the local dealer (the one I hate) is losing the franchise. Also the store in Danbury is either losing it or being sold. It's crazy, but finally as it's time.

The dealership in Stamford doesn't carry Genesis anymore and they were affiliated with the one in Danbury. The new standalone dealership in Milford is only about 12 miles away. I'm in Bridgeport right off the parkway.
