  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Coupe is Here in the Flesh!

not sure on why it would be a mistake??? be proud of what you buy and drive..thats the way to get this corner completely turned for hyundai. the consumers have to be proud and not act like hyundais are similiar to auto part store brand spinners when they were out, lol.

There are probably more threads with more posts about changing the Hs than any other thread. So I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who thinks the Hs are a mistake. I don't know how many people have removed the Hs but I'm pretty sure it is a significant number. I know the Genesis is a great car. I have owned three BMWs and still own one. My Genesis is the best car I have ever owned. But Hyundai has not yet over come the stigma of its past. These things take time.

When I was at the dealer yesterday the guy that sold me the car told me that they get two kinds of customers: one that already knows about the Genesis and one who doesn't know anything about it who says "Are you crazy, $40,000 for a Hyundai?"

Eventually the word will get around that Hyundais are no longer disposable cars. I get questioned all the time about my car because I no longer have the Hs. I always tell people that it is the best car I have ever had. If they saw the Hs they would know what it is and just assume anyther POS disposable car.

In fact someone asked me yesterday while I was stopped at a light on my way to the dealer.

Now, who knows how to get rid of those little tiny Hs that are etched into ever ywindow?

i agree to disagree but your reasoning is justifiable.

We got our first coupe yesterday..3.8 6mt track.

I have always been a Subaru guy, but this car makes me question if I will go back to a Subaru or go something like this.

The only two things I don't like so far are the grille (I wish they would have done the front more like the sedan in being badge free) and the rear lights have a little too much white/clear in them and make me think of altezza lights (a little light smoke film would fix that) and I am sure someone will come out with a nice grille for the front to spice it up a little.

couple quick pictures of ours:

My god that things beautiful in black.....

I can't wait to go see one in person now. I'm just gonna have to force myself not to buy one that doesn't have exactly what I want on it.

Grille is easy to take care of as there are already aftermarkets for them, as well as for the tails :)

Okay, here's a question for you Richard:

What if there never was a "flying H" logo? Let's say Hyundai's official logo has always been the Genesis "wing" logo, with "Hyundai" inscribed rather than "Genesis". What if that was the logo that came on every Hyundai car, including your Car of the Year Gen? Same wing design; just has "Hyundai" written in there.

Would you still be "embarrassed" to have it on your car? Would you tear it off?

Or would you keep it on and be a proud grown man?

I would take it of and fill the holes with chewing gum.

That begs the question of why Hyundai chose to badge the Genesis in Korea without any Hyundai logos?

We are not ashamed (cough, cough) we just want the "authentic" Genesis badging.

With the badge stuff, it just sounds like most other forums in that respect. On my Subarus (and even current Jeeps), we have always taken the badges off of them. I dunno why, we just like the look better.

Most want the JDM badges for their Subaru ..why, because we dont get them here. I imagine it is much the same with the "H".

I also understand some may want it off because of the stigma that goes with the brand from years past and some will always be that way, some will drop it because of what their friends may think because the friends still think of that stigma of old Hyundai, not of the new, modern, quality product being produced.

We got another Coupe in today. White 3.8 automatic. I walked into the showroom and saw it sitting there. ??? I was scratching my head b/c I don't usually miss big arrivals like this. Turns out it was dealer traded in. I guess somebody didn't feel like they have a market for the car. That's ok. We'll take it!

Yeller!

Got another 3.8 in Yellow just a few minutes ago.

Supposed to have a turbo incoming and didn't even know this one was coming. No word on the color of the turbo though.
