  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis/Equus DIS Nav System Map Update TSB

Interesting. I have some of the same issues you do, however, make sure you are not avoiding toll roads in the settings.

Also, mine shows the time I should arrive and not time left in my trip. I had my amp upgraded (re-flashed) and this happened, which I found odd. Seeing as how I was conviced that all of this information was stored in the HDD. Anywho, it sounds like Hyundai Hodge Podged these together :/

rlkoch1 I'm not surprised by your upgrade experience...at least it only took three plus hours and it was free. It was much more expensive, time consuming and frustrating for me. An obvious positive of having the update is that I don't have the "surround sound unchecked" or "no audio" issues anymore. But wait, the upgrade bricked my head unit and a "new" one was installed sooooo on second thought I'm not sure if the absence of the issues is from the upgrade or the new head unit.

My friend is a Genesis Master Tech and I talked to him about updating the nav and he said "don't. We have the car for about 6 hours and then at the end it almost always says 'Update Failed' and there's nothing we can do" lol. Thats straight from the horses mouth my friends

That's exactly what my Hyundai service writer told me...I should have listened. Umm and as far as this update curing the occasional "no audio" problem: "Not so fast my friend!" I jumped into my Genesis today and, there we go again, No Audio. At least I knew how to fix it, thanks to the forum. HYUNDAI HAS TO KNOW THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE AUDIO! Hyundai is mute on this issue. Kind of like our systems.

I had the same problem no audio but since I had the latest update I have no problem. I have not pulled the fuse since. even when I had to turn on the phone's bluetooth in the car after using voice command and no bluetooth connection was found, this use to make me pull the fuse to reset the audio.

I got a postcard from Hyundai Assurance yesterday offering a free update, which claims to include:
  • >1 million miles of road
  • >450,000 POIs
  • >7.5 million other data points, including speed limits, street names and addresses
The offer expires 11/30/13. I'm wary after reading about others' experience. OTOH, I would expect that even if something went wrong during the installation the dealer would have to get it back to operating condition no matter what it took.

Anyone else get this notice?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Waveman, what year is your Genesis? I have a 2011 and haven't seen anything. I only got the call from the service manager because we had been discussing the nav issues shortly before he got the notice.

Vince2, it wasn't free. My wife shopped at the mall while I waited on the car. :)

It's an 11. I'd be OK with added roads and POIs as long as the update doesn't mess up my DIS.

I got my card in the mail today so I will be going back to the dealer. I noticed that the maps I have installed are a version from April 2010, so no way do I have this latest version of maps even though the dealer says that is what came up when they tried to install the new maps. The saga continues...

My 2011 4.6 got updated earlier this month through the same campaign. The map now shows 2012-12 version (I forgot the exact version), and it seems to have a lot more POIs now. Overall, I'm pretty happy for the upgrade!

It's good to know you had a positive experience. I just wish they'd do the 2010s as well........... dang it!

But, I ain't paying no stinkin' $345!! I'll use my 4 y/o Garmin which is way better and far easier to use. :D

Though this is an older thread, I am responding to the last member 'Backtohyundaibychoice'. I read somewhere on the forum and can confirm the following...

A) you MUST register while using Internet Explorer (IE)... that way you can get to the acceptance page

B) After you have successfully registered, you may then use ANY OTHER browser to access the site... including Smartphone and Tablet browsers

I had the same issues as you. Now, I can hit the site from my Droid3 and generic Tablet.

Cheers
