  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

Nice! Is it possible to take a side view of it? Also is it a one button or two button system?
There's a release button at the top to remove the adapter from your car when it's done charging, and a second release button on the bottom to remove the NACS cable from the adapter. The label doesn't actually say where this adapter is made although the 3rd party manufacturer (Kyungshin Corp) listed on the label is a main supplier to Hyundai and is based in Incheon South Korea, so it's likely produced there.

Nice photos! Please give us your feedback once you try it out. Genesis has 2 buttons and the A2Z is a 1 button operation.

Any Canadian members hear anything yet?

Haven't even seen any announcement from Genesis Canada if we will be receiving adapters or not

I received my NACS adapter yesterday and also checked the in car nav, it allows me to filter to Tesla stations now. The Genesis app doesn't allow that yet.

Feedback: went to test charging and ended up going across the parking lot to chargepoint. Unable to initiate a charge through the tesla app. I'm sure it's me...

Does the Genesis converter they are sending out let you charge at hotels and home chargers that use Tesla chargers or only the high speed ones - ie does it work for level 2 chargers or only 3? (The level 3 and level 2 chargers for non-tesla chargers are different so suddenly I realized that I might need two converters for road trips and not just one - I'm hoping I only need one).

You will need a separate adapter for connecting to Tesla destination and home chargers (Lvl 2).

It will not work with level 2 chargers or destination chargers at hotels.

The Tesla app usually works pretty good. When plugging in the adapter into the car nake sure you hear a click. The same goes for when plugging in the Tesla plug into your adapter. I’ve seen this issue on some YouTube videos and at first people thought it was the app vs. having a good connection between the plug, adapter and car.

That is a little brutal to need a separate charger at hotels. Looking at the genesis parts website it looks like for those of us who have to purchase it ourselves this converter will be $350 - quite a bit more than the Kia one (which I would have expected to be identical except for branding) and $200 more than the Lectron Vortex converter. I wonder how much the destination charger at hotels converter will be and what percent of hotels use Tesla and what percent won't need a converter?

Anyone know why this is? I thought the connector is the same size/shape.
The adapter for level 2 chargers uses the J1772, not the ccs. It only uses the top part. The difference is ac charging and dc charging.

Good point, I didn’t think about it from the vehicle side. Thanks.

The NACS connector carries either 120/240V AC or HVDC on the same two pins. This is part of the beauty of the NACS standard, and it allows the connector to be smaller. But, it means that the vehicle has to do the routing of AC or DC internally. The MY2025 Ioniq 5, for example, has a new electrical module box to perform this switching. For those of us with the combined J1772/CCS plug, we have to do the switching manually via the use of different adapters.

NACS from a design perspective is a more streamlined system. My biggest issue with it is it historically has been controlled by EM and before Tesla was forced to open up the standard, there were no 800v SC systems in place despite the fact that NACS is capable of supporting 800v.

Now that the standard is truly open and they are adding NACS to other competing networks, it only makes sense to move to NACS for the future.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Arrived today, two days before originally indicated. It's heavy!!

I guess I should have posted, got mine on Monday and I might've been first here!

I agree, definitely heavy. I can compare it to the Ford adapter I got with my lightning.

Thanks for posting! So heavier than the Ford adapter? How does the build quality compare to the Ford one (which I also own).
