  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

Has anyone that are NOT first owners of a GV60 get emails / adapters? I asked our dealership about this but they said there weren't anything specified. We're second owners of a GV60 2023 Performance in IL - no emails yet.. :/

Yes. 2nd owner and just received adaptor.

Interesting that second owners are getting them. Mine is a CPO and the dealer said I would get one, but I haven't gotten the email and I bought it after the Feb 1 deadline, but the car was, of course, originally sold before it so I don't know if this is based off of the car's first sale or my sale (and if the dealer is right or overly optimistic).

Got my email last night.

Email on 5/13/2025? Same, same, and same. I wonder if they're sending the email based on region.

Is e-mail the only place you're notified. Does it also show up in the app under messages? I bought July 2023 and haven't received any notification.

Same here. Bought July 2022.
Strange how it seems that the people that bought the car first are the ones that have to wait the longest for this email. You think they would’ve done it the other way around given that we are the ones that are gonna lose the free Electrify America charging first.

Maybe. But I bought my car in the spring of 2024 and I haven't received an email yet. (Not stressing because I have an A2Z adapter.)
Yeah. So do I. It’s just the principle of the thing 😉

I got mine today. It's nice they provided a case. I wonder about the original application for that case. It has pouches and elastic retainers and even a little reinforced slot on the back. A lot went into it.
I also compared the Genesis adapter to a Lectron (non-Ford) adapter I have.
Genesis: 2lb. 5oz
Lectron: 2lb. 2oz
The Lectron definitely has micro switches on both the CCS latch and NACS latch
The Genesis only seems to have it on the CCS latch. I have not confirmed with an electrical test.
The Genesis NACS latch is a bit easier to access.

The case genesis supplies has a tag that says it is "Item # SM-2943BK". It looks like it is a case for storing tech accessories.

"The RPET Tech Organizer is perfect for organizing and transporting power banks, earbuds and any other electronic accessories. The case includes five elastic loops for storing charging cables and styluses, plus two zippered pockets. It also features a large zippered pocket and a half mesh pocket that’s perfect for earbuds. The slip pocket and cord passthrough let you store a power bank inside the case while your device is charging."

Does the Genesis converter they are sending out let you charge at hotels and home chargers that use Tesla chargers or only the high speed ones - ie does it work for level 2 chargers or only 3? (The level 3 and level 2 chargers for non-tesla chargers are different so suddenly I realized that I might need two converters for road trips and not just one - I'm hoping I only need one).
Honestly the L2 NACS to J1772 adapter is the better bang for the buck adapter for road tripping. When road tripping I will book hotels that have L2 charging for their guests and I make sure to tell the desk that. It is about a $30 value to wake up to a full battery. Most hotels with chargers will have NACS units and most will have only one J1772. Since I usually see 3 NACS to 1 J1772 at hotels that have chargers, I use my adapter and leave the J1772 for someone who doesn't have and adapter.
Check out EVDANCE that is the one I use and it has been rock solid. They have giveaways nearly every holiday. I currently have their L1/L2 charger, a L2, 40 amp mobile charger and their adapter. All have been great.

Observation:

We lease an Ionic 5 and have received no communication about adapter.

Are those still waiting leases?

Not a lease here, and no email yet

The Tesla app usually works pretty good. When plugging in the adapter into the car nake sure you hear a click. The same goes for when plugging in the Tesla plug into your adapter. I’ve seen this issue on some YouTube videos and at first people thought it was the app vs. having a good connection between the plug, adapter and car.
Success today!

Still unable to initiate at San Clemente Outlets - 2nd attempt so went here and experience was pretty seamless with T app

TY for tips - i did try em all!

Are you talking about the 49 stall location at 101 West Avenida Vista Hermosa? That location does not support non Tesla vehicles. When I look in the Tesla app that location doesn't show up (because I've told the app I have a GV60). You can also look it up on the Tesla web site and see that it is missing the "Adapter Required for All EVs" tag. You also can tell just be looking at the icon. The charging bolt icon is for Tesla vehicles only, the NACS station show a NACS plug icon.

It's ironic that this location doesn't support NACS because that is the location Hyundai used for the photograph in their initial announcement that they would be supporting NACS, back in Oct 2023. If you look closely you can see that the vehicles aren't plugged in.
