  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

Redline Reviews best cars of 2019. Spoilers: the G70 won their best car of the year. Also, I saw on Instagram that they got a Design Edition for a week for testing, so there will probably be another G70 review from them coming soon.

Hopefully all these help with resale value. I remember when I checked the 5 year future value of the 2018 Golf R vs the G70 and the VW was predicted to be worth 10k more.

A lot of Korean YouTube car reviewers are talking about the MotorTrend COTY award for the G70, but I feel like they have critiques or mixed opinions for the G70 based on cursory reading of Google Translated comments. Anyone know what Korea is saying about the car?

Wanted to mention this, maybe is not the correct place but hopefully okay. The link below is a review of the new 3 series but what I thought was interesting is that Genesis/G70 was mentioned twice when listing the other luxury brands. I think it is a good sign to have that done in reviews and hopefully it will filter down to consumers and be more commonplace.

3-Series Review

^ interesting indeed. that is a large stride. Lexus and Infiniti were bypassed, which isn't a big surprise considering they are competing with older models.

Interesting group over there. There’s also this thread about the G70 as competition for the new G20 3 series:

Test drove the G70 today! Went to visit Genesis of Vancouver (Washington) to check out their new inventory. They just received 2 G70's on new years day. Both AWD 2.0's, one in Mallorca Blue (Prestige) and the other in Victoria Black (Elite).

First thing we did was check the back seat space. The salesman let me test-fit my daughter's car seat in the back and things fit well with room to spare for how far back I put the driver's seat (I'm 5'11.5", I really don't put it far back at all, though). Even sitting in the back myself was nice, the seats are pretty deep; however, I can see how headroom can get a bit tight. I had to hunch my head a tiny bit forward to avoid having the top/back of my head bump into the roof - even so, it wasn't bad at all. Driver's seat felt perhaps a little bit tight, but not in a bad way. I was a bit concerned about the head room, though; but, I usually don't recline my seat back very far when driving. Also, the seat was able to lower quite a bit more than how I had it, so I wasn't too concerned.

The drive was impressive. The closest cars I've driven to this are the Stinger, Volvo S60 Polestar, and the Giulia Ti Sport (all AWD). To me, the Prestige felt like something inbetween the Stinger and the Giulia, being closer to the Giulia. For me, that is a huge compliment to Genesis. The Giulia is amazing to drive - and while the 2.0 G70 isn't quite as engaging, it is really close. The suspension feels very controlled, tight, and responsive. The steering, in sport mode, feels very quick and you do actually get a little bit of feedback from the road, though not quite up to the same level as the Giulia (which is abnormally incredible, btw).

Power was impressive, as if the numbers (ie 252hp and 260ft-lb) were a little bit underrated. While driving, we had 3 adults and one child, so the car even had a bit more weight during my test drive, but it easily scooted along. Transmission shifts felt very quick. That thing was fun. That said, I'm even more excited about the 3.3 now. Also, I really liked the HUD. It was nice to have something showing my speed and the posted speed limit right next to each other. Also lane keep assist was awesome, haha.

Exterior of the car looks strong. Very luxurious looking, and also unique. Mallorca blue looks really good, even my wife commented on how good it looked, and she hates every car color but dark grey. Hah. I like it. The chrome in the prestige trim looked better than I anticipated. It's a handsome car. I took a bunch of pictures around the car. I zoomed in on the clear sensor shield on the front grille, it almost looks as if you may be able to detach the clear plastic from the diamond grating. That said, it may be possible to paint the entirety of the chrome grating up front, even behind the shield. Still, it's tough to tell. I think I'd have to take off the entire front bumper to take a peek behind it to really figure it out. Anyway, doesn't matter, I was still really impressed with how everything looked.

I'm pretty well sold on this car. Honestly, I am leaning more towards the Sport trim now. I like those extra features over the Elite.

Here are the pics I took of it.

Nice write-up, man. The 3.3T is the cherry on top. The torque is so gd addicting. It pulls hard in sport mode at all cruising speeds.

Also, Mallorca Blue is the greatest color of them all (no bias ;))

Ah...finally !!! Worth the wait! I can’t see myself in anything other than the 3.3T.

One thing...the plastic shield has the mesh embedded in it. It does not sit on top of the grill. They did a great job in how they did that. Thereby keeping it flush with the grill itself.

I got mine first part of Nov...and the build date was June (perhaps even July).

The Canadian Prestige has the 19" staggered PS4 setup and the grip is amazing when weather permits. But the square setup would be more fun for oversteer!

The build date is specific to day, month, year. What exact date does it show?

My wife had the same reaction to the blue as well. Before seeing the blue in person I didn't even consider it as I just assumed it would be too flashy for me. After seeing it in person and showing my wife I completely changed my mind. We both thought it stood out on the road, looked sharp but was not flashy or obnoxious.

Sounds like you had a pretty good first impression. Just wait until you drive the 3.3t. Once you go 3.3t you never go back.
