  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

If the GV80 is better than the Telluride or Palisade, one can expect a lot of new members on this forum next year.

I love that theyre testing a non sport model, but I do wonder if the sport would provide more lateral grip and better stopping distances due to the better tires and ECS. Their experiences driving the non sport match with mine, the PS4 tires give up the ghost so easily that the car almost never has traction on the back wheels if you drive above 50%. I get wheelspin during launches and the car wants to spin in corners if you dont have really fast hands. RWD is fun, but as I get older and can afford more HP Im thinking AWD would be a little more 'safe' :p

Did I miss something? Doesn't the Sport come with PS4 tires too? I thought only the Dynamic got anything better (aka PS4S tires)

Whoa I might be wrong, totally thought the sport came with the ps4s

Checked my window sticker (which I have saved in my browser bookmarks for some unknown reason LOL) and unfortunately you're wrong. The ECS may make a difference though when they're talking about quick turns.

FWIW, I haven't had that issue he mentioned in LA traffic...besides 1 time where it was raining and I definitely spun tires/got a little slideways passing a stopped truck

Well shit, thanks for correcting me then.

Man my rwd wants to lose traction all the time if the wheel isn’t completely straight, and it’s dry all the time here. Traction control fully on I’ll feel it cut power as it flashes on my dash. I’ve gotten used to it now for the most part but it will still surprise me every now and then

I'm curious what my AWD dynamic (Canadian) would do in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 mile. It's AWD so heavier by default but also lighter because it's got the MXM4 all-season tires that would be lighter with less rolling resistance vs PS4s. In addition, no LSD and other items that would make it a bit heavier. The other thing I recently read was that the AWD cars make 14psi max boost and the RWDs 12psi max. I would think that's to level the playing field in acceleration as the RWDs are naturally lighter.

I do find with AWD and the MXM4's it's got just the right balance of grip and "fun" factor for normal street use.

Just did a drive to really think about the suspension. I think my tendency to oversteer is coming from weight transfer more than anything else. On a corner the softer springs allow more roll and as soon as the roll maxes out I lose traction. The sport suspension probably allows someone to feel that slide coming on more easily and power back whereas on my standard suspension it can be kind of abrupt out of nowhere

My situation is somewhat different. I hardly ever see the traction control activate. I would have spin all the wheels. With the front wheels turned from a start and request for heavy acceleration the rear wheels chirp then I can feel power directed to the front and the damn takes off like a bat out hell with little to no torque steer. I've been in this situation a few times already.

Part of me thinks you'd be better served turning TC off and just modulating throttle lol

I've actually only had it turn on once because I hit a small bump in the road. It was a super weird feeling having power cut while going uphill!

^ where did you read that? i'd be curious how they adjust tunes between AWD and RWD. never heard that before. typically the RWD weight advantage is more than offset by the AWD traction advantage for acceleration data.

the RWD must make the rated power, so if that is on 12psi that would mean AWD had a higher output on 14psi. then every RWD guy would want the AWD tune!

This is indeed true. AWD gets a bit more PSI to compensate for the weight, etc.

Are you sure? Isn't the (stock) AWD variant slower than the RWD in 0-60mph runs by 0.1s? Is there that much more weight?

^ well...stock I got 4.4...so I dunno. I am AWD. I think there is at least 100 lbs difference. That I am not sure of.

Stinger forum. There was a thread about pulling the awd fuse, which would make the awd car a rwd car but with 2 more PSI of boost. Minus the weight penalty, the theory was it may be faster stock.. maybe, maybe not. So much discovery happening with these cars right now!
