  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

I was going to post that one...but the guy is too much of a goof spending 90% of the review searching for the rattling object LOL

Seriously, that was hard to watch. I'm thinking of deleting it. The hat he puts his crap into is sliding around in the center storage. smh

If you watch to the very end...they keep the video going. He goes to the trunk...then to the glove box and finds the Genesis Promo material in there that was shifting back and forth.

I don't think they drove the car. He claims onboard wifi and doesn't know the drive modes.
Some of these sites are just summarizing what others have written or the videos and claiming it as their own review!

It really does seem that way with many car sites/reviews that I've seen lately. Can't say I know whether or not this specific review actually drove the car, but it certainly seems like there is a lot of cut and paste in the wording. I swear I've read many of the exact same phrases in that review.

Or maybe it's just me losing my mind. Haha.

I read everything and can pick out lots of misinformation very easily.
Most of these guys just want clicks and web traffic. And in most cases even the images are stock images since they are a mismatch of what trims are being reviewed.

So...if anyone cares...MotorWeek will officially have an episode on road testing the G70. I believe that it will be the first full review from one of the big players. I don't count that BS MT review that put it at 4.7 seconds...or whatever mag did that.

MotorWeek is good, but the gold standard is Consumer Reports. They buy the car retail, anonymously, so it's pretty much what a retail buyer would get. I don't fully trust press cars.

Wtf?
They don't care too much about the performance or anything. They look at a car like an appliance assuming that most people who buy them don't care about actual driving!

Exactly

I like the aggregate view of the car. Consumer Reports is a part of that but as cited above I don't find a lot of value in the driving dynamics portion. I actually trust independents and slightly more enthusiast platforms and reviewers like Motor Trend, Smoking Tire, Straight Pipes, Driving Television to give me the balance.

I remember once that they totally shit on a vehicle cause it didn't have a telescopic steering wheel. But then totally gave the RAV4 a pass on all the hard plastics on the dash and everywhere just cause it was a Toyota.
If we went by them as a gold standard, we'll all only ever buy a Civic or a Corolla!

It depends on the car they are reviewing. They gave top ratings to the BMW X3 and 2 series for great driving character. The Audi A4 is the top rated sports sedan. And the Miata is always a favorite of theirs. Yes, it's more real world driving and past reliability that plays into the ratings, but each car gets a road test score, if you want to look at that. And Genesis is their top ranked brand, btw.

They just aggregate the top agencies and form an "opinion". Also you can't rate something objectively when you rely on users for the data.
Fools that suffer sunk cost fallacy will not admit their vehicles are garbage. And the opposite is true as well. People who love their vehicles will exaggerate how good they are!

Quick laugh for a Friday? Check out this gomer...LOL. Guy has a phablet in his pocket...looks like it's about to crush his femur. LOLOLOL

Lol, Car & Driver car of the year! (not an actual award). Stuff like this is why I appreciated the online purchase process. ;-)
