  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

I wish they went more into how the weight balance difference affects the driving. They mentioned it but didn't talk about it as a factor.

One interesting thing to note is that they say the Volvo rides just a bit better, but it also has 18 inch tires vs the G70's 19 inches. I wonder if the G70 would be comparable in ride quality with equal aspect ratio tires.
The S60 has a 2" longer wheelbase. It's not quite in the compact segment like the G70 and not quite the mid-range segment either. Plus I'm sure they meant it felt cushier like a Lexus feels.

I've always appreciated Throttle House - and their content is only getting better! I always look forward to their videos nowadays.

Throttle house has become my favourite car channel to watch. The comedic relief is great. The S60 is pretty sharp looking. It's one of the better looking sedans now. I love the headlights. I'm not crazy about the lack of hvac buttons though. Other reviews have mentioned how bad the steering is as well. I wouldn't take it over the G70 but could see how a long drive commuter or someone who is less of an enthusiast would buy it. I bet once 19's are on it though the ride is pretty much the same as the G70. I imagine that being longer it has a little more backseat space as well.

Definitely a nice car but it still would not get my vote over the G70. Hard to top the combination of the driving dynamics, level of luxury and price of the G70.

^ i second the author's mention of ~300hp being optimal for the G70 6MT packaging. that would help exploit the mechanical performance parts to their fullest while not being overwhelming or adding extra weight of a larger engine. hell, even the ~285-290 range would be more on-par with the class leading 2.0Ts. G70 torque is also a bit down comparatively at 260. most competition is at ~290 lb-ft with their 2.0Ts by now.

the AMG and Audi S 2.0Ts are in a different league at ~350hp, but those are far higher-stressed to be compared with the regular stream of 2.0T powerplants. i'd have to imagine additional maintenance or shorter service lives would come with the territory as well.

Agreed about the 2.0T power.
I believe the only reason they don't have the 3.3T in 6MT is because they don't have a manual transmission that can handle the power yet!

^ yup, and it's not going to happen either. no plans for a high-hp 6MT setup in the Hyundai family. they already had the 6MT from the previous Gen coupe (or other models) which had up to 348hp and 295 lb-ft or so from the 3.8 V6. but the big torque of the 3.3T would require R&D on a new gearbox which was not an option. knowing that the gearbox can handle 300+hp/300tq is frustrating since this is exactly what the car deserves.

there's always the aftermarket i suppose...

I'd be more pissed if they use the same 2.0T engine and up the power for the new model years!

Is the 2019 Genesis G70 the BETTER buy over BMW or Audi?

Pretty good review. He was incorrect about the side vents and the seat sliding back when getting in unless the 2.0 doesn't have that option.
He also falsely mentions dark chrome for that grille and that the rear diffuser is not functional as well. The 2.0t has a slightly different styled diffuser but the holes are there to prevent parachuting.
The welcome seats access is available on mine.

I still have not been able to figure out how to get the climate widget to come up on the infotainment like in this video. If anyone has any tips would be appreciated!
I know!!!! Me too. I want radio/media and HVAC on the “home” page. Help!

I just spent 15 minutes and I’m at a loss.

When my car starts...the infotainment defaults to the “home” screen...which the left half is Nav and the right half is Radio/XM.

Is this home page customizable? I thought the home page can have customizable widgets.

Something tells me it defaults to that if SiriusXM is not activated!

My SiriusXM is fully activated, etc. It's all I listen to.

To add...here is the MM manual...

https://owners.genesis.com/genesis/...019/g70/2019-G70-Multimedia-System-Manual.pdf

So this is wacked...in the picture below...I do NOT have #5 on my Home page...

This seems like the button that is used to customize the home page with Widgets, etc. WTF.

I don't have the Canadian PDF of that manual but on the full car manual, there are features that we don't have as well. So I think it's just the Korean manual and some features are not available.
My biggest disappointment is that we don't have Rear View Monitor which I wanted and shows in the menu but not available. HDA (Highway Driving Assistance) would be nice too but only on Korean cars.

This is also from the manual...and I simply do not have this...or don't know how to get to it !!!!

^ So I went to MnSOFT and downloaded my MM update. Never done this before. Already downloaded it...and in the process of writing it to the G's SD card. Taking FOREVER. Will report back if the system updates with any of the screenshots above. Who knows. My build is June...but could be some old ass software.

UPDATE...

Got the update on the SD card...all good. Nothing has changed on the Home Screen. I give up.

BUT...here is a note. When the SD card was removed and I started the car...the HVAC info was on the left...and radio was on the right !!!!! Just what I wanted.

But the moment I put the card back in...the Nav shows up on the left again.

F it. Back to watching hockey.

Other than for the software update, what is the purpose of keeping the SD card plugged in?
