Genesis G70 Reviews

Used SCC for a lot of my 2 + 2 hour trip yesterday. Worked pretty good IMO.

Wish the hands free duration could be a bit longer although I’m don’t want to crash and burn like some of these Tesla drivers.
 
I have a straight highway drive for my commute. The hands-free detection always triggers even when I have my hand on the wheel. It's so annoying that I just changed my active lane keep assist to the lane keep warning that vibrates when you're moving out. It doesn't trigger hands-free detection, and I don't mind having my hand lightly on the wheel. But I do wish the G70 had the ACC system the Palisade and G90 now have.

Poorly done comparison of Cadillac CT5 4-banger vs G70 3.3T sport. What's shocking is that the CT5 costs more than the fully loaded G70 and it's not even a V6... maybe huge incentives will be the name of the game? Seems like DOA for Cadillac when there are so many better alternatives for the same or cheaper price.

He seems a little biased. He didn't spend nearly as much time in the G70, and even when he was he spent a lot of time in the Genesis talking about the CT5.

It's like they have the ingredients to actually make a good car in every aspect but for some reason have to cut corners.

I honestly once considered the Cadillac for the Supercruise alone.

I was a Honda/Acura guy for 25 years and then one day decided to lease the ATS. I actually liked the car a fair bit but once I drove the G70 and the dealer said they would buy out my lease... it was GONE!

I'm also a former Honda/Acura guy. My first car that I paid for myself was a Prelude, but later on also owned an 03 Accord V6 and an 04 TL. I made the move to (Hyundai) Genesis in 2010.
 
I enjoyed the review. It is all subjective. My preference for the interior is not the same as his. I did not care for the look of the Caddy seats. If the Genny had the grey interior, his opinion may have differed. The exterior is again subjective, exactly at the reviewer described. Angles vs curves. Once again, if the Genny had been a different color his opinion may have been different. He really seemed to like the look of the Caddy based on the color.
Other than the time he went around the corner he did not seem overly impressed with the performance of the Caddy. He did like the power and ride of the G70.
The winner is the Genny based on the price/content value and ride.
I am not biased, I only have the G70 Sport 2.0t m/t.

I had an 03 Altima SE manual (which I traded in for the TL ) which had an intake, headers, and exhaust and I managed 14.2 @ 99. It was loud as heck though. After that Altima I never messed with bolt-ons again. I concluded that the engineers generally know what they are doing. Yes, there's probably a way to get more power out of your car, but are you prepared to live with the trade-offs? There are almost always trade-offs.

This means they need to produce a vehicle that meets all of these regulations in "one version". There's also a budget they need to stick with that limits what they can do as well. That doesn't mean the platform doesn't have more performance that's easily available. It's really easy to make a lot more power out of this car with something like a JB4 and not see any difference other than maybe fuel use as the fun meter gets dialed up. Before anyone says that will increase wear, it's clear this car is over engineered. Any manufacturer that advertises a "drift mode" is going to make sure it can take some abuse.

We do not disagree; in fact, you listed an advantage (power) and its trade-off (fuel mileage) in your example with the JB4. I have nothing against the JB4; for those who have it, knock yourselves out. I have to admit it is tempting. But the trade-offs are fuel-efficiency as you mention, and if they really wanted to they could discover your usage and void the warranty if something were to break. It seems pretty low-risk, but it's not zero risk. There are also things like parts lifetime and longevity of other components that they were thinking of. Maybe it's a part that's been certified for a certain duty cycle for so many miles, like a fuel pump. Or transmission.
