  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

Redline and Alex on Auto's already have full reviews of the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer and it's even out yet. Still no GV70.

If these are your favorite reviewers, why dont you simply drop them an email and ask?

As more reviews continue to be posted it seems the overwhelming consensus is that the GV70 is more of a laid back cruiser with good straight line power than a well balanced dynamic handler. I'm sure this tuning was intentional and will likely attract a wide range of buyers. That said, the GV70 lags behind the Germans on sheer driving fun.

This was the impression I also got during my test drive(s) and thus, at this point, I'm likely going X3 M40i. The BMW isn't as good looking inside or out, but I guess this is a case of choosing the girl with a good personality over the supermodel looks for me.

I'm still overall very impressed with what Genesis has accomplished with the GV70 and it definitely bodes well for the future of the brand. Looking forward to this forum growing as new owners continue to come on board...

Agree, and by wide range of buyers Ill assume you mean men and women. They hit the sweet spot there I think. Our 3.5T is the spouses and she raves about the ride and tech goodies. To me its plenty quick and somewhat toss able. I'd bet on an "S" version at some point which would really be interesting.

They are bailing too much money to answer me. Actually I did go on Alex on Auto's Facebook page ( hard for me because I don't believe in facebook) but he has not answered.

It's not just those two. For some reason this vehicle has not yet had a full journalist roll out in this country which just makes no sense. There's no 2.5 reviews at all ( except for amateur hour stuff) and no full test scores.

Aussie review with some acceleration, deceleration, g force measurements, starting to see a repeating acceleration pattern. PS Suv tires.

I'll wait for our reviews here before I believe a firm 0-60 time. So far the "number" has varied between "high 4's" and "high 5's".. I can't get my own accurate read until the temperature drops here in Phoenix as performance at 100 degrees is not optimal. I've only deployed launch control twice and it felt like a bit north of 5 seconds.

Def not less than 5 seconds, I can tell you that.

Actually…the top trim is probably 4.7 seconds to 60. 4.9 to 100 km/h

That’s been established.

0.2 slower than then the G70

Amazing that the car was just released in the land down under and they already have several top real journalist reviews and here it's been out for months and other than individuals reviewing dealship cars we still got nothing.

Actually, it's been out for about a month before the reviews hit, but the delay was not as long as for here.

Redline and Alex on Auto's already have full reviews of the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer and it's even out yet. Still no GV70.

They both have 1st drives of the Santa Cruz which hit the lots a couple of weeks ago and Redline, the Kona N, along with others.

Still no press fleet reviews of the Stinger 2.5T.

It doesn't matter what you and I think differs. The Korean models get sent to Australia and their team there tunes the suspension for Australian roads. The Korean models get sent here to North America and the North American team tunes the suspension for North American roads. They're developed independently from one another. This is how Hyundai works.

As I've stated before, the Aussie tuners are better at getting the ride/handling balance right than the US/NA tuners.

Wish we just got the Aussie tune (the UK/Europe often just gets the Aussie tune).

Yes these are the non-driving "first look" reviews that came out back in March/April. At that time it looked like this vehicle would be fully reviewed in America prior ( or at least with in weeks) of the vehicle being on sale but that was not the case at all. I don't know why the Hyundai group struggles to get some of their vehicles out the press in a timely matter, especially this one, as there is so much riding on the success of this SUV. They managed to get the all new Santa Cruz out there for full reviews before it saturated dealer lots but here we are with the GV70 that I've now had for 10 weeks and still nothing but Canadian, Korean and now Australian reviews. Weird.

Are you totally disregarding the reviews posted by Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Road and Track, CNET, Forbes, Edmunds, Motor1, etc.?

So far those have all been shorter written reviews and none are for the 2.5 version. Many don't have basic info like cargo capacity or real world MPG which C&D always does. Yes there are some, but it has been a slow drip as opposed to the normal blitzkrieg that even Toyota's new GR86 sports car already has out. The Edmunds video review is Canadian. Consumer Reports say they has to rent one.

Does the GV70 have remote start? My previous 2015 Genesis sedan had that feature and I loved it. Just moved to the desert and it would be much appreciated.

yes, start it AND back it out of your garage from the key fob.

But does it have long-distance remote start, or just a range suited to locking/unlocking doors?

Also note that back it out of your garage with fob is only on some trim levels (in Canada anyway).

Yes with the digital key app. Believe this is only available on higher trim 3.5T in US.

Thanks. I may have asked that badly though, was reading on my phone and typing is a pain.

I have an aftermarket remote starter in my current vehicle, they gave us a choice of using the car's factory fob, or of getting a new dedicated fob. We went with the latter (chose 1-way not 2-way to keep the cost down). The main reason was that the range for starting with the factory fob would be the same as for locking/unlocking, which intuitively is much shorter than needed for remote start. When we were looking at new cars a couple of years ago, Subaru mentioned StarLink includes remote start using the app (among many other features) and included 3 years free, then paid subscription. I scoffed at paying but then realized that it would take several years of paid subscription after 3 years (I forget the cost) to cover the cost of an installed remote starter.

For Genesis, I guess that's "Genesis Connected Services" which they mention on the Canadian site at Genesis Connected Services - Mobile Remote Application | Genesis Canada (I've seen some discussions from 2019 of Subaru not actually delivering, as they were waiting for government approval and/or signing a deal with a cell carrier, but surely they've solved those). I don't need to start my car from the far side of the world, but I do want to do it from a longer distance than a lock/unlock fob allows. Of course I want to be really close for Smart Parking and would probably use the fob even if the app allowed it (physical buttons and all that). :) In Canada RSPA shows up on the top 2.5T Prestige and the top 3.5TT Sport Plus. Reviewers dismiss it as a party trick, but it's one of the features that drove us to Prestige from the trim below, and it would be a compelling feature if we were to get a Hyundai instead.

I have a USA 3.5 prestige sport. With the genesis app dowloaded i can start the car using my smartphone. Can also do same using my apple watch. So long as your device has internet connection i would think it should work regardless of distance.
