  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

Nice amber rear signal lights. Hope they don't turn red when they arrive stateside...

I like the amber color, but why did Genesis put them so low. The whole idea behind rear brake and directional lights is to be seen, hence the high mounted 3rd brake light. The higher the lights are, the easier they can be seen, especially two or three cars back. Putting any of these lights down in the bumper area doesn't seem like a good idea. Hyundai and Kia has been doing this for a few years now, and I'm sad that Genesis is following their lead. I just don't see any reason other than to be different. Is it aesthetics winning out over safety?

I priced out a loaded 2021 A4 and a loaded 2021 Q5 (not the hybrid). The Q5 came out $3.5k more ($53.3k vs $56.8k). I was actually shocked.
So...my guess is that the GV70 will be well below $60.

If it goes over $60...I will be in shock and out of my price range. But...if they could nail it for about $57k...that would be f'ing brilliant and beat out the Q5 as the Audi does not have the free maintenance in the above price.

I have exactly the same mindset, the same comparison but the SQ5 since the Q5 is the 2 point slow engine. The comparable comparison was the SQ5 and GV70 sport; if you’re going for HP.
I currently have a B8 SQ5. Towing capacity over 2 tons in a compact SUV is the first checkbox for me. That checkbox is hard to fill and GV70 should do it since it’s more HP, torque and longer wheelbase than the SQ5.

^ We were actually going to get the SQ5. The brakes killed it for us. You can only get the brakes from Audi...period. So you may save some on labor going elsewhere.

The outrageous cost of the brakes forced us down to a Q5.

I don't think you have more safety issues than our overbearing Govts ! Get over it , they have you more than covered !

I didn't say that the government should get involved. All I said was that the higher the lights are, the easier they are to see. Probably one reason why we don't see any 3rd brake lights in the bumper. Just expressing my opinion. Get over it.

New to this board (this is my first post) and very interested in the GV70. I am turning in my 2018 X3 in late May, and looking at replacements. I really like the X3, so that is a safe default. The GV70 is intriguing, though....I like the styling, reputation for quality/value, technology. I assume that Genesis's AWD system is comparable to BMW's. I would like to know if the rear storage (for golf bags, etc) is similar to my X3, or if it is tiny like the Macan. I am hoping to have this as an alternative, if in fact it is available this summer (I have another car to use after I turn in the BMW).

Rear storage capacity isn't yet known, as far as I can tell, which baffles me as Genesis does have most other specifications on their website in mm. The GV70 and X3 exterior dimensions are almost identical. Same length, same width. The Genesis is a couple inches lower, however (64.1" for the GV70 vs. 66" for the X3), which might improve handling. Below is a link to an early Consumer Reports review.

The review notes:
"The GV70 roofline is 2 inches lower than the BMW X3, an SUV that it otherwise matches in nearly every other dimension. This gives the Genesis a low, sleek appearance, augmented by the prominent wheel arches filled with large wheels and tires. The combined effect makes the GV70 look sporty and ready to pounce."

Alamo you and I are in the exact same situation expect my 2018 is due for turn-in the middle of April. I too have one other vehicle but is a pickup truck and am not looking forward to driving it alone for six months or more. However, with that said, I have decided to go for it and after driving a GV70 will make final decision. You're right about the X3 being a fine machine, but I did have three issues to be corrected over the first year. I also like though the five year warranty that the Genesis carries. Talked to owner of my local dealer and he believes it will be middle to late summer for GV70 arrival in U.S.

keep an eye on youtube- there are new posts daily from the Koreans. WRT golf bags, I remember someone putting 2 golf bags across the back. They we’re not cart bags, they were lighter carry bags.

Thanks, all. I can make do with my other car if the wait isn't too bad. I saw that the X3 and the GV70 are about the same length, but was nervous that with the long hood length and emphasis on passenger comfort, the GV70 might have less room available behind the second row. I only put stand bags back there, so no cart bags/staff bags.

I have been a long time BMW owner (3 series sedan, M5, two 535's and my current X3), and am really positive about the brand, but there isn't much change in the 2021 X3 versus my current 2018, and I just want to try something different. Plus my current X3 has a few minor irritating things that I just want to move beyond. I also had some check engine light issues (emissions related) that had my X3 at the dealership for over a week. So it hasn't been perfect.

Its the Govt that approve the light and reflector placement

Was wondering, does the GV70 offer 40/20/40 split-folding seats? Seems like on YouTube what I see is 60/40 split which I'm not a fan of

The videos don’t seem to show one, which seems like a miss, as my Mazda CX-5 has a 40/20/40 split.

I saw a YouTube reviewer comment that they saw the GV70 yesterday and can't say anything about it until Friday. So look forward to Friday!

Motorgraph World GV70 3.5T Road Test.

Thanks for posting the video because I've been curious about the back "crest grille" bumper. Love the car but absolutely hate that plastic "crest grille."

5.5 0-60 ain't great for a nearly 400hp small suv. I also don't like to hear how soft the suspension is... maybe that is where the sport package with sport+ makes a difference. Perhaps not, been understood the hyundai/kia/genesis electronically controlled dampers just don't have the same range of adjustments as other brands yet. Definitely the case with my stinger.

First off...it is not 0-60. It's 0-100 km/h. That translates to about 5.3 seconds to 60 mph.

Next...who knows how their tester did it. Zero faith in that. LC? Sport Mode? Fuel type? Conditions?

My guess is this car with the 3.3T will be 4.9 seconds to 60. So about 0.4 seconds slower than the G70. With a JB4 (once it's out for this engine)...4.5 seconds should not be an issue...which is awesome.

IMO...this review sucks. She complains about perforated seats. Um...ok. If you have ventilated seats...she expects the air to come out of where exactly? LOL. Numerous other stupid comments.
