  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

First off...it is not 0-60. It's 0-100 km/h. That translates to about 5.3 seconds to 60 mph.

Next...who knows how their tester did it. Zero faith in that. LC? Sport Mode? Fuel type? Conditions?

My guess is this car with the 3.3T will be 4.9 seconds to 60. So about 0.4 seconds slower than the G70. With a JB4 (once it's out for this engine)...4.5 seconds should not be an issue...which is awesome.

IMO...this review sucks. She complains about perforated seats. Um...ok. If you have ventilated seats...she expects the air to come out of where exactly? LOL. Numerous other stupid comments.
I have to agree with you. Charlie from Asian Petrolhead must have been driving different vehicle. His review is the opposite of hers.

^ Actually...I just realized that Genesis officially says 5.1 sec to 100 km/h. Forgot about that. So I was spot on by saying 4.9 sec to 60 :)

Definitely not amongst the best reviewers i've ever seen...

I'm more thinking outloud, it does give some cause to pause. To me the Genesis with the 3.5tt should be aiming for that space at the x3 40i; GLC 43amg; and audi SQ5 (ish). On paper the numbers seem to work out that way. Falls right in that general area with these. I'm a tad more skeptical now after my Stinger. Not a bad car, but it is not like the german competition. It just isn't, it wins in the value world which is fine. Genesis is now right at those guys brand level for luxury segment and when she talks about body roll, and that some of the composure of the car isn't on par with those... my ears perk up.

Now i'm not some insane forum dude who is screaming the car sucks now because 4"7 Korean girl says something; but given what I've seen and driven from the hyundai group in the past that does fall in line with my own observations. I've been hoping that this is maybe like generation 2-3 into their spring rates, and damper settings, etc that this will improve with this new genesis but also possible that it hasn't made that leap yet either.

It's a moot point because the suspension tuning for the Korean market isn't the same as the one for the North American or other international markets. The Koreans tend to localize their suspension tuning for each country/continent their products are sold. Earlier last year a few pre-production GV80s, which were essentially Korean-spec models, were brought here to the States that some members were priveleged enough to test-drive, and the driving experience they claimed was unusually numb and wobbly. The actual production model was far more settled down.

Wait until the production model actually arrives and is test-driven on North American shores before writing off its driving dynamics.

Amazingly detailed review of 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T from South Korea in English. (uploaded Mar 23, 2021)

As Bs stated, the suspension tune for KDM tends to be overly soft due to the preponderance of speed bumps in Seoul and the other major metro areas.

Nothing was amazing about the review. She must have been driving a different car than the other Korean/English reviews. I'm curious to see what the US reviewers think about the vehicle. It's still at the top of my list for my next car.

Don't get me wrong! I've preordered it GV70 3.5T Sport in Red on Red already. Genesis does not take money in US for preorders just yet, but I will definitely getting one this summer!

Nice video, about the styling anyway. Overall I think it's a really attractive vehicle.
It may look different in person, but in the video, that body line that runs from the front edge of the hood to the back of the vehicle makes it look like there's a really big gap along the passenger side of the hood. Too bad, since these cars (G70 anyway) seem to have wide panel gaps to begin with.
All the dimples/recesses in those wheels won't be much fun to clean once they're filled with brake dust. 😬
I wonder what brake pads they're using on the GV70? Hopefully they're better at handling heat than the standard pads on the G70, since this vehicle is no doubt heavier.

I noticed they removed the air purification system from the US versions.

The air is much better in North America. They have a big problem with air quality in Korea. Some smog and “yellow dust,” which I think relates to sand storms from the Ghobi desert.

5.5 0-60 ain't great for a nearly 400hp small suv. I also don't like to hear how soft the suspension is... maybe that is where the sport package with sport+ makes a difference. Perhaps not, been understood the hyundai/kia/genesis electronically controlled dampers just don't have the same range of adjustments as other brands yet. Definitely the case with my stinger.
Easily the biggest thing I'm interested in seeing... have they matured their suspension setups for actual sporty driving experience.

Motoman, as usual, with the most technical info (even if some of it is speculation).

Man, that new EV concept must be something.

Considering the likelihood of the Coronavirus mutating each season like the common flu, they should offer the air purification system for every market (and add an ultra violet light to kill viruses).
